  1. Perhaps MDMC was the flop we all thought it was. Then again if its MLE, and not specifically DW, it might not be theme park related, as MLE covers a whole lot more than that...
  2. Gazza, I honestly don't know what we did for construction updates before you moved to QLD... thank god for uni eh? the updated photos look really good. Some excellent work being made there, and definitely something to count on for christmas. By the sound of the myfun email, and the looks of the construction the theming on this is going to be to bermuda's once wonderful standard. Rocky outcrops and so on... sounds good. Some of the Reo near the viking flume looks like it might be more for the theming than the footers. All the footers have regular hexagonal support structures (as you pointed out in one of the captions) so I am thinking all the additional rebar is for theming construction etc. Just with the amount of Rebar, that points towards some good theming additions. You also mentioned in one of your captions about the animal pool at the back end. I think its safe to say that the necessity of protecting the animals could also do well towards the theming aspect, and we might well see a nice overhanging rock wall at the back bend there - similar to the style we see in the promo photo on myfun also - roaring around that back bend with a sandstone rockwall hanging over us like a standing wave.... I can't wait to see what sea world do with this. Good work on the photos Gazza, keep us posted.
  3. wow that surfing comment really came out at random now didn't it? I would certainly hope that you are intending on paying royalties for any photos you take of the galleries of this site. The photos are provided for viewing purposes on the Parkz.com.au gallery only by Parkz staff, and member contributions. The copyright remains held by the photographer, and the use of another persons copyrighted works without payment of royalty or usage fee would constitute a copyright infringement that would most certainly hold up in Australian copyright law. As a photographer, I am aggressively protective of my work which is one reason why very few of my photos grace this site - not because i do not wish to share them with the other members - but simply because every man and his Windows movie maker would rip them off for their own fame and fortune. TO keep in line with the spirit of your posts, including entirely random garbage in the middle of the post for no reason - (see "surfing" above) i'd like to take a moment in the middle of the post to share the following: we're woolworths, the fresh food people. Beijing 08 08 08, Everybody celebrate, Mickey's diamond jubilee When you wish upon a star... ...for whats in the box with the dots... Now let me ask what kind of theme this video will have? Flea used to do awesome montages of one or two rides, or overall clips of certain parks. Your proposal seems to be a matter of "anything theme park related" done to a backing of what would seem to be dusty relics from the 80's, one can only presume appearances by Cindi Lauper, Europe, Dave Dobbyn (w. Herbs) and Marky Mark (and the funky bunch)... Sounds like a boredom project to me, and one that doesn't really seem worthwhile the effort, let alone the contributions.
  4. My thoughts on the razor blades - they weren't necessarily planted during the day, but moreso by vandals overnight, when the slides are dry, and easy to walk up\ down. It would be simple in a dry tube to slicea gap into a join between two slide pieces, insert a razor blade, and then silicone it in, with enough time for it to dry before it opened. This is why most slides have a "walk down" by the operators before they are started for the day. Tis is actually a word in olde english, and used by some of the greatest english writers of all time, however I see you point. I must say the quality of his posts is slightly higher than the last time, but i certainly hope this is watched carefully, and an IP ban considered next time something goes astray. You would think people would learn... apparently they don't.
  5. took me about five seconds to work out HNFT. nice one gazza. You'd think they'd have learnt the paint thing from bermuda.
  6. When is someone going to do something about this guy?
  7. here we go again..... a quick youtube search shows: YouTube Search Results A google search shows: BTTF Internal shot Dude, we've had this discussion before. When asking for photos, particularly of theme parks, you have to remember that there are literally MILLIONS of people who pass through the gates of every theme park in the world. Now if just 1000 of those have cameras (and thats pretty low, considering more than 90% would take a camera). And if just 100 of those use facebook, youtube, flickr, or visit this or other park style fan sites, then there would be hundreds of photos of every park, ride, attraction, shop, statue and sign in every theme park in every country across the world. For future reference, before you start an entire thread, asking for photos of batman adventure, back to the future, or any other ride, just try the following: Step 1: GOOGLE IT Step 2: YOUTUBE IT Step 3: Search FACEBOOK for groups dedicated to that particular ride or attraction. Chances are there'll be some Step 4: If steps 1 through 3 don't work, see step 5. Step 5: go to step 1 hope that helps.
  8. i'm liking Manta Ray. the look of the twin panels look a bit like a manta... give it the right paint job and it'd be pretty realistic.
  9. hmmm..... I can also deduce that this is a worlds first finally from WVTP - one that dreamworld won't get - they also don't have any sort of restraint system. As a matter of fact, it looks like they've somehow managed to mount ten of the Sea World Jet Skis in a train formation onto the track of the corkscrew? even better - it seems some sort of mechanical cloning has been used - as every jet ski appears to be identical... like they've just used the one jetski, and put different kids on them in an excited pose! holy crap - do you reckon that it might be related to this post here? matt crombie's post from months ago that you really should look at before commenting on an ARTIST'S BLOODY RENDERING
  10. Although considering that post was made near on two months ago, it couldn't have been very obvious back then....
  11. Well, since it is against the community guidelines to do so - yes, you should have. Then again this is why I made a little joke out of it rather than obsessively yell at you for not spelling the right way.
  12. I was just checking out Gazza's latest addition to the photo galleries. I couldn't help but laugh at the following: followed by That's extensive.... Surely theres a way (not sure how hard it would be) to program a simple logic into that line that says "extensive". The system is obviously able to recognise how many photos it has for each attraction, so using that, why can't it have a couple of different phrases - EG: if theres less than 3 or 4 - "Our <Ride Name> gallery needs more photos. Contribute more here! If theres say 5-10 "Check out the Parkz <Ride Name> photo gallery here! And if theres more than 10 "More Photos from our extensive <Ride Name> photo collection here It just seemed a bit of a stretch to call 2 photos a "gallery" let alone our "extensive" collection.
  13. So Chris why haven't we seen you around much lately? your other ID hasn't posted since late 2005, and since you created this one in april 07, you've made 9 posts... most of which are in here... I remember when I first joined R-C\TT your posts littered the forums. I remember the animated gif you had as an avatar at that point quite vividly.
  14. Gazza, tell me you clicked the starch link..... god I read some of those and cacked myself...
  15. still waiting on why we won't see it return? That made the ride. entering the final lift hill and feeling the heat rise as you get closer to the top of the lift hill was the perfect setting that you were entering a volcano.
  16. Bully for you - who cares? Just see how many people you can one-up in every way. Good idea! Let's redo all of dreamworld from starch Give me amylose and amylopectin theme parks any day.
  17. Good news to hear Gazza. I think the rope lights in the lift are to give you some point of reference when the lift tilts. I think if you didn't have it (try closing your eyes next time, before you enter the lift area) you would just feel like you were moving sideways, rather than TILTING. I'd still like to see them fix the last drop though. I don't think the haze you saw in the main room would have been fog or smoke because it would have carried forward into the last room. I think the mist was just particularly good that day. Dammit MW, just bring back the green laser - you've got it in the rest of the room.
  18. Progressive park openings also work too. Wonderland did this with Goldrush. I have to say as far as opening hours it isn't really the best to have the ENTIRE park area open prior to attractions open. Last time I was at Movie world, the ropes were around the Roxy area. The problems with the whole park being open is it costs you money - You have to have staff in attendance at every stall and attraction, to prevent guests getting where they shouldn't be. For Wonderland, as a staff member, I loved being in the Photo lab, because it was the earliest start for park staff. Retail plaza \ wildlife staff started at 8:30, but park staff (other than goldrush) would start at 9:30 to be on deck before 10:00am. I think the same was for attractions - staff didn't start till 9:30, which meant they had to get their keys and radios, and make it to the attraction, check the maintenance signoffs, and cycle it before the gates opened. In some cases, Bounty's was still in cycle check when the gates opened. Roping the area inside the gates, but before you hit an attraction is a good idea - a few retail staff members on duty in a sales area works well - you might not make a sale, but it forces people to look, which means they might see something they like and come back for it later. Disney does this for a reason - roping off at the hub opens all the stores on Main Street, without needing all hands on deck everywhere else, and it provides for more income. Opening the whole park means you have no concentration of guests, you need to have staff at every corner of the park to supervise the little darlings, therefore - you're spending more money on wages, and not making any in your shops.
  19. I think it's going to be very unpredictable, as to what DW will do with the area. If precedent is anything to go by - it can remain SBNO for between 2 and 18 months, before demolition without ceremony. (ala Thunderbolt and Eureka). Admin: Any chance that the two threads on this topic can be merged
  20. Well Joz, I for one like this new angle taken by dreamworld. Blunt honesty, without thought for public concern could mean that we are actually informed of WHY an attraction is taken down... eg: Hector and Cletus left a spanner on the rail of cyclone, so its going to be closed for two weeks, while we have a full set of urethane wheels shipped out from the US. Or better yet - we might have seen an update such as "Eureka is closed. We're pretty sure its gunna cost too much to fix, but until next years budget allocation comes in, we're just saying "maintenance". Once we're sure we can't afford to fix it, then we'll just remove it off the park map, and hope nobody will notice." Followed by another update saying "People are still noticing that it's closed. We're not going to announce that it's gone yet, but we will board up the station, and paint it like a shopfront for KFC... ummm... in the middle of goldrush country - of course! its a perfect place for a front that looks like KFC - why not - Wonderland put a brightly coloured Dippin' Dots in Goldrush... oh wait didn't they close like a year later?..... oh crap... that announcement wasn't supposed to be made yet..."
  21. With pleasure, but not only because you liked the old design... You're Crazy. Don't say you didn't ask for it.
  22. Well, they don't advertise Wild West Falls anymore... nor do they advertise lethal weapon any more... I haven't seen superman advertised in a while except for Rove, and Scooby hasn't been advertised in a while - Maybe they should close all the rides except for Batwing, since thats the last one I saw advertised? Better yet, let's close every ride that has a good capacity, a good demographic basis (almost everyone can ride it) and can be ridden even when the weather is bad - how many rides does that leave us?
  23. I'm not even going to start on the rest of that post.
  24. Pretty sure it was teaser Gazza. From the info they had on the website, and on the forums here, the ads were on bus shelters and stuff, just the "01002" and a website (which I think was also 01002.com.au or something) which had more info, so you'd see 01002 and a website, and it would drive you nuts, so you'd log onto the 01002 website and get involved, where you also found out about the competition to work out what it meant to be the first to ride it. You're pretty spot on from the info I can remember.
  25. Sanderson has been brought up before - but good find! We've yakked about the cyclone queue pretty much since it was built, all in the negative. As Richard said - the most poorly designed queue in the world.... well... almost. I think its a combination of whats been said - first, that you have to be pretty intimate with the concept to really understand what they're doing. (A bit like Tower of Terror too). The second is that the maintenance is really a problem. Something breaks, and instead of fixing it to standard, you fix it as cheaply as possible, or you don't fix it at all. Things like the cave wall in Tower of Terror is another example where it is damaged, and they just do nothing. But instead of bringing in the same theming experts to adjust or fix or repair the problem when something is changed - for example the relocation of the TOT queue, they just stick up some stairs, mount some air cons on the wall, and leave it with a very sterile warehouse styled queueline at the start. This is MLE all over, and its such a shame.
