  1. I know it isn't lockers, but it is bag storage separate to the ride itself - and could very well have been lockers instead of free storage: The Claw Wipeout
  2. going to have to pull the dictionary out and add 'pull a lightning rod' to the list under 'doing an AndrewH'
  3. Yeah you've got me there. Shows you how much impact that place has had on me over the years. I can honestly say i've never been in the building, and I never think of it when it comes to deciding what to eat. This in itself, for me, tells me they need to market it a lot better than they have\do.
  4. ^by update you mean *absolutely nothing* has changed?
  5. I noticed that while i was there the other day. Bit of an out of the way place usually, but given its the only route through the park, you can't miss it. It is disappointing with the plaza closed that really the only food outlets you've got are at the front entrance... if you want a 'decent meal' over a BBQ or Cafe style like they have up near the water park. You really miss what the plaza offers. Thankfully once the pain of construction is over, the new area will provide a great outdoor seating and dining experience. I do remember sitting in the outdoor area of the plaza in september \ January and finding it unbearably hot - and due to the shape of the buildings, very little breeze gets through so its a real hotbox. hopefully the roof will alleviate that.
  6. Justice League? Roxy? I've already agreed with the gap hence suggesting other "bigger but still children's" rides be installed in other areas. The park may not be critical, but they are fast running out of usable space for certain attraction types and i'm pretty sure thats been discussed, debated, and agreed to death on here previously. Children's area has just opened some space out the back with cars, yosemite, marvin area all derelict and defunct, and they could fill it, and SHOULD fill it, but given the recent cars build, it isn't 'due'. Re: replacement - also has been discussed and debated to death. I get what you're saying. Actually - I got what you were saying. I'm not saying your choice of words is WRONG, I just don't see it that way myself. That's why I took such pains to say that I appreciated your choice of words, but disagreed. I don't propose to derail any further so won't reply in shit and just maybe leave it at that and agree to disagree on the definition.
  7. Thanks for the updates @themagician ! unfortunately Theme Parks A Go Go were the exclusive first to post pictures of the newly opened bridge and all should bow down to the might of TPAGG. With the tables and chairs around COTD - are these perhaps just the seating previously seen in the plaza? (and therefore will they disappear once the plaza reopens?)
  8. I understand where you're coming from, but I disagree. All parks will at some stage reach 'critical mass' and be unable to keep 'adding' without removing something 'previously loved' - purely on space, but also on maintenance costs - especially as the older ones become more expensive to keep going. Again, whilst I appreciate your choice of words - for me - "replacement" would be where something is immediately removed in order to begin construction on the new thing. this would be the case for BATR, MMSFX show, PASS etc, but not for MMWMC. Something WB Kids lacks - ever since the RRRC was installed is a showstage suitable for kids shows - this would solve your problem better than putting in several new rides as: the show would take up more of their time with an appropriate stage \ venue, it would be cheaper to build (although running would obviously be labour intensive) it would provide something for parents with children too young to ride many of the WB Kids rides (RRRC and cars) to do it would also give a venue that they could use to do similar to dreamworld with wiggles and host special kids events - like Bananas in pyjamas etc (i know they're ABC and with DW but just an example) so they could host those kids tv dance troupes and such. This obviously was backfilled by ShowStage hosting What's Up Rock? and other kids shows, but in my view an inappropriate venue within the park as it should have been in the kids area. Unfortunately that end of the park is pretty well landlocked, so they would have to consider constructing a new kids area, and migrating everything else to the new location, and then using the current WB Kids space for something else... Since we have DC Heroes area, and now DC Villains - my suggestion would be DC Sidekicks, featuring Robin.
  9. Thanks for the updates Ninja. I guess that framework behind the op booth confirms they are going to try and disguise the gap with more facade. good on them for following through! I do hope they still plan to do something with the top white bar on showstage though.
  10. From that perspective, I totally agree with you, but the arguments for more coasters, and the fact that 'they're due' also stand true. TBH I'd like to see them put a western themed tea cups or something similar up near WWF - sort of a second kids area if you will... it wouldn't be hard, wouldn't cost much, would spread out the areas the kids could ride in and would fill the gap you refer to. They could similarly do something like that either in the Arkham or Superman courtyards.. other than that they are running out of 'big space' for kids rides within WB Kids. I don't see them using the other end of LTRR building anytime soon, given the amount of use it gets for storage and maintenance. We all love the parades, big christmas, halloween and carnivale props and overlays, but all that stuff has to sit somewhere.... It'd be nice if they constructed a storage space somewhere else on property - lord knows they have the land to do it - but its clearly not something we would all be happy with as it would spend money that could be spent on another ride... and it would therefore be lame.
  11. I don't know how many times i've said the same thing @AllegroCrab! The parks do need a balance, and right now i'd say the parks are slightly heavily tilted towards coasters (but for obvious reasons). The argument that they don't need more right now is kind of true "by the numbers", but at the same time, for the reasons you've said - when you want to drive attendance, its the only thing to do. Having said that though, and given the cycle, just as @xRazzBerryx pointed out above - its been 5 years (and will be 6) since MW did a new coaster. In that time they built a family attraction, revamped a coaster, revamped a family attraction, built a new kids ride, revamped a family attraction and a stunt show. So as pointed out, they're well due for one.
  12. Looks defective - I'd take it back and get one that is the right way up...
  13. i saw them - i'd thought they'd be covers for the gearboxes \ gears visible at the pivot.
  14. If we see you, that tells me that you won't be a very good Ninja.
  15. I'm sure we'd all agree that VRTP\MW don't skimp on maintenance - and yet we had Green Lantern... so I feel like we shouldn't be rolling out these sorts of suggestions until more info becomes available.
  16. 1. Just kidding. TPG and TPAGG are going to get confusing. You guys should consider a merger. TPGATPAGGAAGGT (Theme Park Girl and Theme Parks A Go Go Are A Go Going Together). Much less confusing. Thats gold Joz.
  17. I glanced at the article at work today - I had thought it was a sit down coaster. Looking again at the pics and realising it was a suspended coaster makes me realise just how much worse this could have been #HolyShit
  18. That's ok mate. It doesn't matter if you get things wrong, what's important is that when you realise it's wrong, acknowledge the mistake and move on, rather than continuing to fruitlessly argue the point, or deleting the replies of those who proved it to you.
  19. Ninja's first reply originally said 'at what time tomorrow' and i think this is where the 'next day announcement' hype came from. Smeg didn't ever give an actual timeframe other than 'soon'
  20. I don't think they'll be painting the orange and white bits, but if they do anything with them I think they'll be bolting something else onto it.
  21. Guys, remember, it's not just the camera, its the user behind it. DSLRs aren't cheap, and even then, the base lenses are shit, so you need to spend more to get a decent lens to go with it. Even the polarising filter Janine used costs around $70. You can get basic DSLRs these days under a grand, but you have to learn how to use them properly. if you're in school - do some photography classes as electives or sport, or a TAFE course. You gotta crawl before you can walk. On topic, I think we need to refer to the highside scooby emergency exit as 'god's door' from now on. Hopefully they clean up the darkened area where the show stage signage used to be too. Cant wait to ride this lame ride.
  22. So in one thread, you talk about how a flat ride isn't going to get you to buy a pass, but here you say you don't want a new rollercoaster (something which by far is the main reason most people would buy a pass)... What do you want? a Dark ride or a Walkthrough? (LOL) or a Walkthrough Darkride about a monorail?
  23. Yeah thats a fair play - for me i've said the same thing over Buzzsaw, Tailspin and Pandamonium - although having been on Tailspin I now recognise it as a solid flat, I did not give it enough credit. It still wouldn't have been enough to renew my pass with DW but its solid either way... but I wouldn't call that lame just for that reason... I don't think VRTP needs to install something to make people buy a pass. The pricepoint at the moment is more than enough to bring people to the parks. The add-on sales of things like hunger buster are enough to get extra revenue. The park doesn't need a ride that will bring people to the park - the park needs a ride that makes the whole park better... and this - even if you never ride it - will still make your day better. Why? Because with a theoretical 720PPH (which let's face it will probably be closer to 370-400PPH with VRTP operations) will still soak up more people - thats less queueing in Scooby, Superman, Green Lantern etc... and with the interactive theming, an entirely immersive area, and the potential for more 'villains unleashed' in the same area in the future, it creates another sponge to draw people off main street and out of the big queues. Even if its shit - the GP will still patronise it, and that improves the park overall. It's what they've needed for a long long time. And anything that does that, can't be lame - right?
  24. Here's the thing. We have all agreed, for a long time, that Movie World doesn't fill a day, except in peak periods, and then only because of waiting. The reason why is because they have no filler. they have kids rides, and then blockbusters. E tickets - even Batwing, although not 'big' by standards is still 'big' in MW because it is iconic as is GD\ToT. We've said for many years that MW needs more flats. When I look at this, and then I look at all the flats that DW have installed in the past 10 years - this trumps everything hands down - with the exception of TailSpin, for which i'd guess at this point would be about on par for me (that said, I haven't been on it yet so that could vary). I'm curious @JeffreyMoore - Why do you call it a 'lame ride' ? have you ridden one? do you not like the style of ride? What is it that makes it lame, in your opinion? For me - lame or not, MW needs flats, and they need variety - a few more flats fitted in, along with the new worlds best rollercoaster, and the park is going to start looking like a full day, or even a two day park...
