What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to WED99's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^I never said that! When you quote someone, don't put your own words inside the quote... I know what you were referring to but you stated village have decided not to keep their dark rides open when clearly they've literally just opened one a year ago. No. As I already said. I've a feeling we're looking at the unload exit section of the building. The camera is inside the unload area, pointing TOWARD main street -
Regardless of actually going to the Brazillian Carnivale, the theme and imagery of this event is featured prominently in brochures for travel agents, advertisements on TV and even in movies (even if some of them are stylised cartoons such as 'Rio'). Whether it is reality or not - this 'media' version of Carnivale is kind of what I envisioned also. As for the imagery put out by FoF in a survey - I contractually have no idea what you're talking about and as a result have no comments about the definite similarities between that and the previously mentioned 'media' version.

But Sturt remained at anchor at the dock for some time without movement - why is it only now that the river is covering up? Presently it is used only as storage area for carts etc.

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?

Yes. It was such a shame they had to close Justice League. See below: I'm not suggesting this is to any sort of scale, but it gives a general layout. You'll notice if you look at an un-edited version of this shot (it's just google maps) you'll see that outside the 'main' structure, it has several 'lean-to' sections... you can see one of them on the right hand side of the building backstage - which is used as a maintenance store. -
Hence why closing Chinatown in the first place was a bad idea.

i'm pretty sure the photo we're looking at (the one with the tarp laid down on the ground) is the unload section of river ride. -
...i think we're all on the same page...

BINGO! -
Brazillian drums, brightly coloured feathers, party atmosphere. Considering the big event South America is gearing up for this year, quite appropriate.

Yeah - Movie World isn't going to expand that far in that direction. There are still 'resident' issues to contend with, and nobody wants to walk 10 miles to get from one side of the park to the other (In that regard, SFMM needs a bulldozer) It is however a perfect location for a new gate. Since it's becoming a precinct of sorts, potentially they could look to include some sort of accommodation option as well... theres plenty of land there... Day at a park, dinner at AOS, sleep at the hotel... why not? Worked for Disney...

Doesn't really look like much at all. -
A watered down Disney attraction still shits on most of what we see. The original plans for Disney are galactically bigger than what we dream up... so whilst their new rides and attractions may be watered down - their finished product is still a resounding 'Wow'.
-
If they could make arrangements for the animals on the land, that area would make for a kick-ass fourth gate park...

I think I heard something about this - another nighttime event perhaps? Sorry - i went way past the word limit for this thread.... but two thumbs up for the 'bacon' post.

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to colliric_855's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sounds like the park is falling apart! Maybe money from Abyss would have better been spent maintaining their other attractions! -
Agree - it's very unlike Dreamworld to show such love, considering it was getting on in years - although, being their flagship attraction, it certainly deserved it!

Who knows? As was mentioned recently - parks give very little forethought to maintaining their special effects. I'm sure the gas line for Bermuda was a costly effect, and whilst it was disabled (from what we know) to permit construction of Jet Rescue, the reasons cited by the park included environmental ones. This may be a deciding factor here also. My source on this isn't concrete, but it's never been wrong before. There can always be a first time - but as it stands now, I don't think we're going to see fire (and to clarify - fire on a TV monitor doesn't count). We may get it down the track if someone decides to change their mind but I don't think we'll see it anytime soon. I'm happy to be wrong on this because I think the fire effects would complete the coaster and give it that little extra 'wow' after the splashdown (and also assist in warming you up now that you're soaked and freezing). Apart from that, the previously agreed upon decision 'that they were waiting until after holidays' came and went at the start of february. It's been three months. A whole school term has passed... and if it was held up by council there would be records that would show this (and even councils wouldn't be dragging this much when the rest of the installation was signed off in december.

Take it how you like it. I've got it on reasonable authority that flames were never part of the plan - just heat to simulate it. I agree it doesn't concur with the advertising and pre-opening discussions, (if you read my comments previously you'll see i felt the same) but i've since learned new info which makes me believe otherwise....
-
I don't believe fire will ever be a part of that show experience. I've a feeling the lines that are there are for other things. Despite the 'artistic flair' in the advertising, I don't think they ever planned 'flames'... just 'heat'.

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to JulieLovis's topic in Theme Park Discussion
In the smaller parks, where the ops are part of the park 'family' (and probably work closer to 'the boss') the info is normally a lot more forthcoming. Likewise - these smaller 'families' of staff are proud of their little park, they want it to succeed (because that benefits them too) and so they want to give as much info as they can (and are allowed to) to their guests to entice them to come back. The bigger parks are always concerned with protecting their next big reveal, or of their competitor stealing the idea (AquaLoop is a good example)... but it can also be because (as we've said before) until we have concrete in the ground, the park can always change their mind - Ala SeaWorld Wild. That - and at some of the bigger parks - the staff like to screw with your head - ala Scooby fire eyes, and the many Dippin Dots stories we've had over the years. -
Half-day park + full day crowd = really long queues.

Discussions on wipeout ages ago suggested that there were up to about 6 different ride programs (could be more or less) but that as she aged, dreamworld cut back the more taxing stressing of the programs down to only 1 or 2 gentler ones. Hopefully we'll see them open it back up to randomise the other programs or perhaps they could even offer an option like Pandamonium and have a gentle cycle and a intense cycle running throughout the day...

Well for starters, the same member has made more than one request in the past two weeks, so it isn't an isolated incident.. Secondly, there was another discussion on photo requests less than a month ago about the exact same thing. And it's been said - by many people, over many years - that photo requests are pointless. When people go, they will take photos if there is something new. My post was nothing but respectful, friendly tactful and helpful in trying to point a relatively new member in the right direction. I'm going to take your comments to indicate you still have your nose out of joint, so as they say - water off a duck. Move on.
