1. Regardless, a great white shark isn't exactly a unique attraction. It's also not an animal that can "perform" like orcas and dolphins, so really it'd be like a fish tank in an office - ambience while watching it swim around, but it isn't a drawcard attraction that will see attendance spike at all...
2. decision makers take note: Rappa thinks ML installed into Wild West would fit perfectly, and be very cheap. I'm inclined to agree and I can see this resolving quite a few issues that have been raised previously: *Alleviating the boredom of enthusiasts waiting for the 'next attraction' *giving them something new to advertise (eg: not advertising scooby doo as new, 4 years down the track) *A great filler after a year of large expenditures *A good capacity, relieving queues at other attractions - they can easily increase capacity by increasing the theatre size *a show that can practically run 'all day long' *finally having a 'themed land' with more than one attraction *making use of space in the wild west area without pissing off the neighbours *small setup costs win-win-win-win-win! for those naysayers who argue it wouldn't have staying power, the theatre can also be multi-purpose. *with the addition of a roll down screen, the theatre can be another "out of hours" venue for corporate events *the projection can be modified from time to time, with little expense in the age of digital projectors. *rappa could probably do a lot of the technical design in house without needing to hire in expensive outside help (if his workload on the bazillion other projects allows) *see my previous argument re: police academy, BA-TR, and to add to it - Shrek 4d and LTRR.

4. So that was one thing i was curious about and wasn't sure whether it had been asked and answered... the BS makes two revolutions? both in the same direction? It'd be interesting if it were capable of a "forwards, then backwards" cycle...
5. Batman Adventure - The Ride, and the Police Academy Stunt Show changed very little in their time in the park, and yet, were some of the most popular and loved attractions at the park for many years. Nothing says the show would need to be related to a movie to showcase movie magic, the western stunt shows in many movie related parks rarely relate to a specific movie, and they still pull it off well. And I wasn't specifically talking about a "movie magic special effects show" such as what used to be on the current site of superman escape, but a 'mystery lodge' type attraction, which by it's nature contains special effects, and therein lies the tie-in to the movie themed park.
6. That is for sure. There is a lot of space within MW to accommodate that type of attraction, it would soak up large numbers per hour, would showcase more "movie magic" effects, and wouldn't be subject to the same restrictions that the big-scream attractions do. Maybe fit it into an aboriginal theme?
7. It isn't exactly a ride - more of an attraction or show - but Mystery Lodge at KBF was one of the best experiences I had at KBF (in 1996)
8. I'm sure there are a few people on this forum who would dispute the term "fully" being used when describing the Demon.
9. i for one think it's very unlikely that a 'major park' is going to be in Aus. Sounds like it would be a great attraction though - theres a guy who is passionate about traditional dark rides....
10. I will say however that the shift away from some of the more "PG" community guidelines has improved this site immensely, and allowed the "others" to respond properly. If only Daniel were here... can you imagine? Who knows? Maybe a 'guest' will agree with the opinions, and join up to have their say? Otherwise, there are plenty of threads (well - at least 2) that don't contain shitfights... so they can always go there... A lot of the 'guests' to the site come here because they've googled the parks on the gold coast, and Parkz is 9/10 the top result on google for information. On topic - Movieworld. Hands down.
11. No - the SPIRIT... $5 shots at club blood anyone? lol.
12. I actually like the idea of a linked "precinct" but yes, diversity is still something needed in MW. I also want to take this opportunity to applaud Whitsy on a very sensible, intelligent comment. (but...) Please don't take this as picking, but with the addition of parentheses, the second sentence reads much clearer like this: With too many of the rides (of the very few that they have) themed after superheros... I say this only because i had to read it quite a few times before i understood that you meant "a majority of the rides in the park are themed after superheroes" instead of what my mind saw as "the very few that they have themed after superheroes"
13. Many of the animatronics at Disney parks (dancing ghosts in the haunted mansion for example) never stop. They run 24 hours a day. At night time during maintenance periods, they simply turn the sound off so the workers don't go absolutely bonkers. The reason (as I understand it) is because it is too complex to shut down, and then start up the attractions every morning.
14. Well the birthday cake float looks like the same base as the JL float did - so i'm assuming that would explain it's absence?
15. Call me crazy but I call Bullshit! The sensors for the LTRR animatronics are not far above water level. It is the boat the triggers the animatronics, not the passengers.
16. Oh Reanimated - such hilarity. With two minutes, you could perhaps have that job done twice with time for a cigarette? Besides - knocking up my mother is a physical impossibility. Now that we're done with completely unnecessary, unprovoked (not to mention disgusting) "jokes" - does anyone have a serious response?
17. I like the concept, but think it would be much better suited in the super hero area. The Zurg \ Alien guys are easily attacked by kids in the Disney parks, but ALL of the LT characters are lovable, and I can't really see kids loving the concept of shooting Marvin or Elmer. On the other hand - theres plenty of evil villains in the comics universe that everyone would love to shoot. Maybe put that concept into the old BATR2 showbuilding?
18. Well the website makes it simple - its gone. get your last ride in if you want to, otherwise, I welcome speculation on the new attraction... Any suggestions? What can be knocked up inside an existing building in just over 2 months?
19. Thanks for the update Bussy, and congrats on the impending addition!
20. i'm stretching it thin to put this here - but you do get a different view of the BuzzSaw, so it works. News.com.au published a video yesterday on some of the inner workings of the Giant Drop. It isn't anything we don't already know, but video footage is new in some places... http://video.news.com.au/2128925409/The-big-drop (forums 'link' button not working properly)
21. Yoda Coaster! Take you upside down it will. Scream on it you must. Lose your breakfast you might.
22. Like others, the late afternoon weekday timeslot was the show stopper for me. I understand staffing and logistics makes sense to do this on a weekday, i'm just disappointed I couldn't make it. Having said that - it's a fair point that the park didn't HAVE to do this for us, but I also want to point out that we're also doing them a favour, by supplying them with REAL people that they can film for upcoming advertisements. Whilst the park can film anyone, anytime they want to, overall, it's better to get people to volunteer knowing what they're in for, than filming the public and having someone whinge. They get footage to use for advertising before the attraction is open to the public, we get a sneak preview look-see... win-win. My point is, the park isn't bending that far over for us - they stand to benefit as much as we do.
23. One of the songs is called 'i gotta feeling' by.. nevermind.
24. True, but being the Pope or the Queen of England entitles you to bypass safety and security scans at airports...
