  1. Gazza you idiot!! Hey lets start a rumour why not!!! That photo is dated 2002. The ride didnt open till mid 2003!!!! That photo was taken during construction!! Spare us all from posting garbage please.
  2. Why not just check the other thread (that was the same as this one) will answer all your questions. Its listed down the bottom in the "similar threads" box at the bottom of the page
  3. Dude no company goes to any trouble to find alternative employment for their current workforce. I was an apprentice when the place i was working closed due to financial trouble. As an indentured apprentice (as i was in this case) it is actually the current employers legal obligation to attempt to find you alternative work if they cant keep you on for whatever reason. Even more so with apprentices then full time staff because as an apprentice if your indentured your basicly under a mutual contract to: work at the place to which your indentured and for that employer to keep you employed for that time also Basicly when it comes to a closure this means all they in reality have to do (for any employee) is ring 2 of the nearest labour hire places tell them they have x-amount of workers needing jobs and problem solved. Basicly they can wipe their hands clean of the problem. There are a great many things that should be done which never happen in the real world. If it was a fair world in which we live, employers would make a real effort to find their good workers future employment...however its not an ideal world in which we live. Wonderland is no different to any of the hundreds of other business closures that would have happend in 2004, so its probably an unfair to lay blame on management saying they didnt make decent effort in this case.
  4. Burining it is fine as long as you dont breathe the smoke....Jeez get it right!! HAHA nah just jokin...yeah your right treated stuff definatly not something you want to burn. I have heard a rumour that apparently BB was sprayed with some sort of fire proofing...not sure if thats right or not, maybe wonderbus knows
  5. Alex i would suggest you read my previous post #81 in this thread. Of course your not gunna run a dozer thru a section where there is 20odd mtr of structure above you...DUH!?!?!?!?!! And of course it must be done in a safe manner, therefore not just letting it fall over. Any idiot would know thats not safe! All i said was that its possible that they could pull it over in a contoled way with the use of a crane. Exactly the same way large trees are pulled down between buildings. Treated timber dosent pose any threat to humans unless you were to eat it. High in fibre maybe but id still stick to weet-bix. The only other threat threated timber has woud be if you dumped it in a creek or river. Obviously thats not going to happen as it will be all cleared up and either taken to the tip or sold as 2nd hand building material. And how hard honestly do you think it would be for a demolition crew to clean up after themselves...TAke for example when they buldoze a house or building...its all scooped up into dump trucks off the ground.
  6. Dismantled for what reason??? So we dont wreck the precious 20year old wooden beams? Itd take months to pull something like that apart pice by piece. there would be tens of thousands of beams and many times more then that nuts and bolts to undo. And for what reason at the end of it? Its not getting re-located, or going to be reused in any shape or form as a coaster. All this for something thats only going to be sold as scrap timber = a complete waste of time. Take thunderbolt for example. they just ripped it down cos it was only to be sold off as scrap metal. they didnt bother carefully pulling it apart piece by piece, neither will they in this case with BB
  7. I see your still in the process of "building" the second zodiac Just a question....why 4 skyhawks hehe good job tho
  8. Sounds like another "great move" by wonderland when they decided to close beastie then. I still reckon they should have kept a path up to it, and kept it running.
  9. My experience on coasters is limited to whats at DW and what was at WLS. Therefore i dont think im really qualified to vote on this. However I will say i love the look of wooden coasters. There is just something about it that impresses me!
  10. Good thing the computer running the clock chimes worked a bit better then the ones they had running the theming on SP
  11. Whats the hangover anyway?? Cant say ive ever heard of that
  12. The Zipper would have to be the best carnie ride by far of any that i have ever been on. Its fast, intense and mean. Hold on tight tho as has been said already to avoid smashing your face on the cage in front when your facing the ground at the bottom. Only happens a few times a cycle tho so its not a big issue. Also note that its a different ride depending on what side you get on. You will notice they load 2 cars at the same time and both face opposite directions. Ive found personally that backwards flipping has a higher chunder-factor and happens more often if you load into the car on the left side ( left as facing the ride in the que). Oh also remember to leave your wallet and anything else loose with someone thats not riding, as you will more then likely lose anything thats not nailed down. ITs also not much fun to have coins flying around your car hitting you in the head. They hurt for the reccord!
  13. Was WAY too big to be any trailer job. Im with you alex it was a custom built job
  14. Huss mate i think its very clear from what you say that you are completely biased. If you find yourself attacked so much on this site maybe you could consider this and realize its the reason your comments dont get much credibility. Smoothness is just one of many things that make a ride good AND smoothness and a good ride DONT always go hand in hand. (with the exception of coasters maybe) Some of the best rides i have been on are the ones that feel like your gunna die on them! Take the zipper or turbo for example... The sense of danger is a key element (of many) that make a ride thrilling! Smoothness would not be key for most people... Zipper is rated as good because it is good, not because of reputation. The reason your beloved rainbow is probably attacked so much it probably cos by comparision its rather thrill-less. But hey im not having a go at you, im just stating fact. Read the comments of other users in this thread to find that out. But hey having never been on it myself i wont give a personal oppinion for the simple fact that i wont argue out of ingnorance. For the fact that your such a die-hard fan of this ride i give you credit, but perhaps you should consider that most people dont hold to your ideals about this ride and back off a little....just a thought
  15. Basic side to side and over the top motions?? Huss mate thats all it ever does!!
  16. I dont believe this question was actually answered propperly. For those of us who have never been on this ride would someone kindly explain in a bit better detail the lift and brake area thats being discussed...just a little confused about the "falling off the end" part. dosent sound like any coaster ive been on cos usually they dont have bits to fall off!
  17. QUESTION: For anyone that has been on the rainbow, on a scale of 1-10 how does it rate? Its just that its not the most exciting thing to watch, so im hoping that its better to actually be on.
  18. Ahh wonderbus you will argue and argue wont you, I'm sure even to the point where you start to convince your self... Good points richard and I would believe correct in all cases. The point about the shadow of the tower seems to be a bit of a hot topic as well. As far as I can tell its in the right proportion for that time of day. Check the shadow on the zodiac its cast in the same direction and angle. I would suggest also that the reason it looks faint on the roof of the que building would be because the roof is new and bright white. Also not everything that white is actually white. Anyone who has ever had to match paint for a white car will know what im talking about. EG VS commodore has about 11 different matches of white for their paint. And yes some do look green and even blue when you compare them, you cant notice by itslef tho. Perhaps another explanation could be the type of film and camera that was used. Typically its a known fact that different brands of film do not bring out the same match in colours. EG Kodak films are known for showing more red, Agfa blues and Fuji greens. Easily there are a million different explanations. I think at best tho we could say the SP in the photo is real, with the possibility that its been "touched up" digitally for the purpose of advertising etc.
  19. I think its real...I think it looks a little strange because its an old photo probably taken not long after the ride was built. Look at other things in the photo: #1 being the paint job on the Zodiac and that HBL is obviously still open, Sky hawk is still there, and so is wizards. Also Sky rider isnt there...all of these indicate at the "very least" the photo is 3 years old and obviously from other things in the photo its a lot older then that. Probably the most noted thing for me in the photo to indicate its age would be that the park on the day this has been taken is obviously closed. There are no rides in action, no one walking down paths and NO CARS in the carpark. I believe the park went to 7 day a week operation in 1997...(someone may be able to correct that) So given that the ride was built in 1995 i would guess this would be the time in which this pic was taken. (late 95-97) So again the ride looks weird cos its brand new
