  1. Ahh good ole Americans hey...Just make it sound technical, throw in a few three lettered acronyms (TLA's) and you can sell them about any idea. Makes Homer look quite intelligent at times
  2. Yeah I agree Adam they are quite good...good for a laugh but thats about all
  3. Well DUH Adam!! To you and me this might be simple logic. However when something like this is advertised as "expert advice" and " a handy tutorial to recharge any battery" then it runs the risk of leading the not so informed down the wrong track. Trying to charge ANY non-rechargeable battery can be dangerious (which means it IS dangerious) therefore its worth a mention so people who dont know any better dont go and try this sort of stuff.
  4. You have to be kidding....Guys DONT try this with non-rechargeable batteries, you will be both wasting your time and running a minor risk of hurting yourself. Standard batteries convert their stored chemical energy to electrical energy in a non-reversible way. The elements inside the battery decay till they no longer function. Consider this like a boat in the ocean being left to rust...you cant de-rust it to make it new again...instead you buy a new one! Batteries that can be charged really wont be able to be charged in this way either. They require a flow of electrical energy to reverse the chemical effect of the battery de-charging....you need a supply of power connected to BOTH ends of the battery to be able to do this...much like for a flashlight to work it needs to be connected to both ends of the battery..your light wont work with only one side of the battery connected, and your battery wont be recharged with only one end connected too! Charging standard non-rechargeable batteries is also a risk... you risk overheating the battery and explosion. This wont like blow up your house or anything but will probaly wreck whatever it is you have connected to the battery at the time...you may also start a fire...which may then in turn be as bad as blowing up your house In short DONT charge non-rechargeable batteries...the shell of the battery will tell you this anyway...like all warnings they are there for a reason! Anyone who knows ANYTHNING about batteries or electricity will tell you this guy is a quack!
  5. Dude even at $185 for a yearly pass that only equates to $3.55 per week. Assuming that you visited the park about 10 times in that year, your average entry price would still be below 20 bucks! Pretty cheap if you look at it that way. Prices unfortunately are only ever going to go up. Its just the way of the world. In about 12 months it will go up again anyway so you would be better off buying your pass now.
  6. Anyone got any ideas on the colour of the Zodiac? Seems to be red in these sat pics. If my memory serves it was only ever blue in the earlier days then purple.?????
  7. September!! Sheesh 6 or so weeks from nothing to all built hey, not bad!
  8. MMM sounds about as good as my "classic datsun 200B" Face it dude these are all crap carny rides!
  9. All the add says as far as im aware (and i could be wrong) its 3000 per train for the 2 BB trains, and 2000 per train for the Beastie trains.
  10. Yeah a couch would be awesome.... mmm lets see 3 grand for the whole train divided by 7 cars is approx 430 bucks a car....thats a cheapish lounge for your living room. Got 6 other people on here who wanna slice up a train with me??? I got dibbs on the front car tho!! :)
  11. Noticed the same thing on a recent trip myself. Mostly for me it was just a few things in need of a good lick of paint. In particular the paint job on the Claw!! yikes hasnt that faded in such a short time!
  12. The lap-bars were able to be shaken in their locked position but not opened very far at all. Like you could move it 2 or 3 cm at most. Would be almost impossible for an adult to come all the way out of your seat however. Because of the position of the lap bar over the seat, you'd need backwards bending knees to slide all the way out. For the most part when my friends and i were on the beast we tried to do full circuits without holding on....This was achieved by standing up as far as possible in your seat, with your thighs resting hard on the underside of the lapbar. This enabled you to hold on and not be thrown about whilst not holding on with your hands. The other feature of the BB cars that would have made it almost impossible to slide out of was the fact that the seats had a dividing armrest between the two riders. Thus making it even harder for your legs to come out because you couldnt get your body in a position where you were angled across the car. Though I think it must be obvious that the BB would not have been able to be insured and therefore operated unless it was proven that it was like 99.9% impossible for the "average" person to come out of their seat, either deliberately or accidently during the ride.
  13. So just do what we do....leave your extra crap in the car. These places have passouts remember.
  14. Ahh really??!! I know next to nothing about LPM anyway. Amazing what you learn isnt it Where on earth was the BD located? Like back in those days was the park bigger or did it still have the SR running round the whole outside
  15. Love em or hate em, I still think a good woodie are among the most impressive of all rides to look at. There is just something about them that has a real "come ride me" factor to people driving past on the hwy.
  16. Yikes the same as the one in Melb hey...Trying not to be over critical of the SR but its has to be the worst ride ive ever been on....i know i know that its like special and old and all that, but apart from that its got nothing, and makes the former bushbeast silky smooth by comparison
  17. Was the original Big Dipper any good...or was it more like the POS Scenic Railway in Melb? Be awesome if it was still there, tho i doubt itd be open and operating nowdays...
  18. Dude I said "dont expect much to happen unless you want to see ticket prices double" The whole concept behind this is that we would all love to drive past dreamworld one weekend and out of nowhere see 3 or 4 big attractions and other stuff being added...then drive past 6 months after that again to see more stuff going in. Mate Id seriously love to see it myself...for real!! However in the real world things cant always be so....for this actually happen then YES ticket prices would double or more to cover the costs. Dont attack me just cos you dont think i agree with the vision you and everyone would like to see come true...im just being real man, which is kinda what you gotta be given that in this world nothing is free.
  19. Wow you sure ask the hard questions dont you.... Now im no Stephen Hawking, but a pretty good guess at what would define a major attracton to a them park would probably be left best defined in what has gone into australian theme parks over the last few years......say for example the claw or the soon to be opened superman escape. You know kinda theme parky kinda things.... If you have any other mind boggling questions please feel free to ask SK
  20. The park isn’t doubling in size strictly on ride type attractions, (read what they’re actually building SK2) which is what some are suggesting is what should happen. Hey don’t get me wrong it’d be great however Australia doesn’t have the population or general public interest to go building Cedar Point size parks here. And as I said, yeah it’d be great if Dreamworld announced that over the next 5 years 10 or so major attractions are going to be added. But in reality and again as i said unless you wanna pay like 100bucks to get in then don’t expect that kinda thing to ever happen. A theme park like any business will only spend money to make money...and that includes spending only what is required to keep the overall profit of the business at an acceptable level. Therefore attractions will only ever be added sparingly.
  21. Dreamworld needs a new coaster hey?? Well if this isnt gunna go down as one of the "Great Duhs Of History" then I dont know what is. Dreamworld needs a lot of things. A new coaster would just be ONE of many. BUT unless you want ticket prices to double or actually have the money to throw at dreamworld then dont expect much to happen soon. Sure theyl get new things over the next few years but your not going to see like 2 or 3 new thrill rides go in over the course of a year. Try more like 2 or 3 over 10 years...if that!
