^^ How can you not blame MW for closing the ride, its their fault for letting fall into disrepair, just like its their fault for letting BT get to the point its at. Now if the River ride is really bad like that then its fallen apart really quickly because when I went on it last at the last school holidays it was running perfectly with everything working as it should, apart from a really unenthusiastic staff member Ok I'm going to say rumoured to be true is Shrek because I remember again on the rumour mill that when it opened WVTP signed a 5 year deal to secure the rights to use the ride and film and obviously naming and characters at from what I heard a fairly large price tag per year. Now its coming up around five years which would mean if it is true the contract is up for renewal. However with the new Shrek coming out I would imagine the company keeping the ride for a few more years. But if what Randy says is true the character and store are already no more it just adds more fuel that's what it is. Could be plausible, well its tough one but simply based on cost and what is currently on offer... River ride, could be done cheap, but still to a good level. It is old, however that's no excuse to just get rid of it, but just to me it seems plausible, no matter I would HATE to see it go, its a good crowd soaker, great for hot days and everyone just really loves it no matter if their young or old, its always re-rideable no matter how times you've already been on it before and you get to see your favourite Looney Tunes character and we all know Bugs is the best!! I see as completely untrue is LW because It was just so expensive when it was built, not only that the park only has 2 big roller coasters, you take that out your left with one and your left with a park that doesn't have a coaster that loops, to me it would just seem pretty stupid to take something like that away especially if it was being replaced by another coaster, when we've previously seen if you put the new Vekoma trains on the ride and what is a relatively cheap option and makes it as good and as smooth as a B&M (not my words, read it on a review when they put on a coaster overseas) but no matter to me its a no brainer. However having said that LW is missing a train and has been for sometime and from all accounts it ain't coming back and it is the ride that doesn't exactly have the best story, theming to it. But I do remember hearing it was suppose to have a much more elaborate set but due to money it was cut back, why not put that extra bit of theming in it some fire like on X2, the new trains, just really bring some life into it. So there's my thoughts on it... also though the last 2 there's pro's and con's in both of them so it could go either way as which one is completely untrue and could be plausible!!

Another question, Randy are sure you're allowed to tell us this information? Because these plans aren't for another 2 years and considering they won't even tell us about this year I would think WVTP, knowing them and how they are so secret, I would imagine they would be pretty angry with you releasing it. Which leads me to think your hearing this on the rumour mill and its not true, which is what I believe or it is true and I would think on your part its pretty stupid to be saying this on a forum. So please if you can tell us this info great, but for your sake if you can't, don't. And I do secretly hope that it doesn't demolished, it may be rough, but its a heap of fun and its only suspended coaster and our only coaster that loops that many times, it would be a sad day to see it go

Yea can I just ask... where has the red train been? It's like it went into the Bermuda Triangle and disappeared off the face of the Earth, actually a bit like BT ride effects, because on busy days LW really needs 2 train operation!

There is plenty of room in H20, and my gut is telling me the way they have taken the slides down so carefully is because they will be popping back up in the park, to me the most obvious is H20. Also though if the waterpark at SW is gone I hope they move the Mammoth Falls slide back to WnW put it back over there somewhere, they could make room, I loved that slide and to add another over there they could move people then in all threee areas of the park with something new. While their at it, can they make one of the slides enclosed and dark, give it that edge and if WWW ever tried to do a Mammoth or dark one WnW will already have both and have the upper hand. I hope management are listening to people's ideas on here!!

See being a business money is all they are worried about, if they were a good business they would be able to do both, look after their customers and keep them happy, while still being profitable and making money and if done right they go hand-in-hand.

Once upon a time I would have argued that WVTP staff were far better than DW who the rude ones. Completely opposite last time I was DW the staff were awesome and really interected and had fun with their customers, which really just ads to that experience, one of them gave me and my friend a shout out after I asked when The Claw started, I thought it was cool! Also the ride supervisor of all their rides was getting everyone to clap after every ride and was awesome as well as the F&B staff and really just all the staff in the park. Whereas last time at MW when I went to go and get my pass done something like thrid or fourth time and it was 4.55 and they'd closed, with still people inside and I asked could I quickly get mine fixed because they had screwed up so many times and front gate had told me next time they wouldn't let me in... She rudely turned around and went not my problem, that's yours for not knowing when they closed, I said well there's no sign and staff never told, I got to bad not problem my shift is over. I went to guest services, told them what happened and she was rude, they told me she was in the right even though they had stuffed up, I explained front gate wouldn't let me what should I do then? They said buy a new one, I just said forget. There was a time when those parks did everything for guests because they were afraid of it getting back to mangement and people like John Menzies, now there not the top dogs staff act like its them before the customer. Well that's true if you want to destroy a companies well built reputation.

Said it before, I'll say it again and now from when you drive by the park its pretty clear Twister & Speed coaster are coming back! They have been tacken down carefully, not like when they got rid of the old body slides, I mean Twister especially was such a busy ride and so much fun they would be idiots not to move it somewhere else!! Plus they still need them for capacitiy. I mean four looping slides are going to be pretty popular and bring more people to the park and bring its attendance up again, it needs those extras to help on the Summer days. I don't see Terror Canyon coming back, but we just have to get over that, things come and they go, we just have to expect that, as long as when its replaced, its replaced with something that's FUN

If they are making so much money then why can't they make them look like belong in sea side themed park, it honestly wouldn't be so hard if they are doing as well as you say.... and if they are doing so well then why aren't we seeing things like BT getting the repairs that are needed, or money pumped into the train starting again? Simple answer, the games maybe doing well but the money isn't going into the park but to make it look more profitable to give the managers a bigger bonus and thats it! So really if they don't look good and we see the money not going back into the park, looking at the bigger picture, yes they are a bad thing! Now I could be wrong and someone please do that the money is going back into the park, but I personally just don't see it. About Bermuda Triangle, my personal opinion, because the state it has been turned into, that it is on its way out in the near future, I have this gut feeling that they feel its past its date and are going to turn into something new, but for now because it is on the way out they couldn't care less at what state its in because they'd be fixing it only to see it go. Once again I hope my gut is wrong and we see it returned to its former glory and be around for another 50years like the rides at Disney. Just like the Ski show is iconic for the park I feel BT is as well the volcano's with fire, I'd even go so far as to stay that its an icon of the Gold Coast, everyone knows of the ride and loves it. "Disney executives were amazed the ride had been built so cheap, claiming that an identical ride in the states would have cost at least $20 million." This is from the Parkz website here, even Disney thought it was awesome, if the industry leaders loved it and were amazed at how it could be so cheaply built... why get rid of it? At its prime it still held huge lines and was great taking so many people out of the park.
-
I'm sorry but does anyone else think that those games look tacky and cheap and just thrown up there, its like they looked at Disney's Paradise Pier games area, went "hey that looks like a good money maker and looks like they did cheap... let's throw that in there!!" But in case they haven't noticed they look so bad Disney are ripping there's down and are actually doing them properly as a THEME park should. Now those photos, I think this could be the new ride for SW, wasn't there mention of something in the paper about them getting something? But anyway if it is there's where their putting the money and once its done they won't touch cause it, I mean who cares the public won't care, its made its money we'll just put something new in, WRONG, didn't work for SF and it won't work for them, how long will take them to figure, hopefully no enough before SW is destroyed for good. That's even if they theme it all and thats even if its a new ride or just removing something that cost them too much money.

Hey guys, well I didn't really want to start a new thread, but I didn't want to bring one back from the dead either and we'll there aren't to many WnW topics to talk about anything which is why I made this, otherwise if I just made it on what I wanted to say I think it would have died off pretty quickly. So with Richard's new re-arranging of the forums I thought why not we can talk about the new rides coming to the park terror canyon, what we like about it, what we don't what we want to see, trip reports anything really. I thought it would make it easier to talk about it all in one forum then have all theses different ones. So anyway kicking it off REA/TEA have released this years figures for attendance, well last year's but anyway we came in at 8th place with 1.095million people and that was up 6.8% from last year, not a bad effort really and one would assume this is because they offered such cheap passes. We were beaten Wet'n'Wild in Orlando owned by Universal which came in at 1.235 and was down 5% actually interestingly all Universal owned parks dropped by the looks Aquatica came in at 1.6 mil also falling 6.8%. Again number one was Disney's Typhoon lagoon at 2.059mil and Blizzard Beach 1.181mil both not moving from last year. Sunway was 907 000 down 17.5% which was a big drop, no mention of Wet'n'Wild's other properties at Hawaii and Phoenix and obviously no WWW 20th place went to Hyland Hills Water World at 515000. Anyway look for yourself http://www.teaconnect.org/etea/2009ThemeIndex.pdf It makes we wonder when they put in looping slides that's going to be a bog crowd draw I wonder if it will go up next year and will it raise in places, and with the way they dismantled Speedcoaster and Twister it looks as if they will be returning increasing capacity which is a plus. Another thing if we see that the Disney water park is smaller than WnW I wondered people have always wanted to see a Disney park here and we see that clearly you brand it Disney and the people will come wouldn't this be a viable alternative for them to get into the Aussie market, we love waterparks and their cheaper to build than a Disney style themepark and would still rake the money in, put in a hotel next door and Bam they would have it made, and if it all goes well they go ahead down the track with a theme park use the water park as a test, it would make WWW and WnW try harder and maybe the theme parks would sit up and listen as well that they need to lift their game in case the park came soon after.

Sea World ski stars sunk by pirates
Original replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If they give 10% discount on F&B can they include drinks into part of the meal and offer people the choice again of small medium and large not just large, I don't bother with a drink anymore because I don't always want something so big so I just give it a pass, their missing extra revenue by giving people less choice and they still make a ton of money from medium drinks because they cost nothing to begin with. -

The problem that's now been created with the passes locals are so use to paying such low prices for so long, when the passes end are they prepared to go back and pay full price for just one park for one day? -
WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
Original replied to Intamin's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I have a feeling that we'll see thesees rides back again, Speedcoaster offers a good step up for little ones before taking on bigger slides and Twister, well that's just loved by everyone, its such an awesome ride, they would be foolish to dump them and they want to get bigger with capacity for more guests to beat WWW and they already closed Terror Canyon. I think we will see these rides re-appear in H-20 the only reason aqualoop isn't they just want you to see looping slides at the front for marketing pruposes and they're pre-pared to pay the extra to move slides for this. -
Exactly it management makes everything, we saw the quality of the parks when John Menzies was in charge, the quality he provided in cleanliness, rides, shows, everything. He had goals for his park, he had to have everything perfect, his parks were everything he was there for decades and saw them from the gorund up; he run those parks on similiar styles to Disney on what budget his company allowed him. There's that saying build a good brand and product and they will come; DW strayed away from that, in the short run they made money, in the long run however we constantly now see them reporting drops in attendance and are now trying to turn it around. It was obivious when the new managment took over, price's went up, lower quality products, obivious cost cutting. Management need to sit back and go, yea were doing this wrong and go back to the days of Scooby, Wild West, Bermuda Triangle and Polar Bear Shores and bring back their quality and for christ sake bring sizes back to drink and put them back in the combo.

Parkz News Tower of Terror in reverse?
Original replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well lylefart DW have clearly stated that this year a ride is going to be overhauled... and this one with the time its out it seems pretty likey ToT is the one getting the treatment and agreed its in desperate need of a paint job and que to be touched up. With DW fb page I don't get it they told shareholders one of their rides is getting overhauled why can't they at least say that instead of rumours when they confirmed it just not which ride and they claim to be giving out info first?!?! I don't get it. -
I drive past every morning and night of the week, and at night as mentioned they pull it up the top and in the morning it comes down and they also take the gondola up very slow and its stops at places (I'm guessing where that thing that sticks out of the tower every so often up and just go through normal testing for the day) at places and so on. Don't always see it at the same time though; tomorrow at 8.30 the car could still be at the top, they wouldn't have started on it. You just got to be lucky with what time you drive past and what their up to. Same with Batwing you see in the morning stopped at different places up the tower, but not always you can drive past same time and instead see SE doing its thing or Road Runner!

Exactly we need something the public goes WOW at and not havn't we seen this before? even if there is difference it needs to marketably different. Ardent Leisure have built a different silde to WnW yet are marketing as if they are the same rides people will start asking isn't that the same thing, you need to be different from the competition but good different! I can see Giant Inverted Boomerang working, but WOW IT GOES BACKWARDS... ToT does that and although not as fast so does scooby and Wild West. See thats where my dream flyers and dive coasters can work... WOW YOU LIE DOWN LIKE YOUR FLYING / WOW YOU HANG OFF THE EDGE, LOOK HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY HAVE IN A ROW!

See yep, I'm a Queenslander and winter is way too cold for me, not going anywhere near those placesa! I love the water and it usually isn't to bad for things like wavepool as long as they warm... but rides that require only small amounts of water or a really high up on a windy day... no thanks! Also I've tried carrying a towel around, I reccomend many because after not to long that towel become pretty wet and useless, shirts are as what Gazza said horrible in winter. I love the Blackhole in winter always the warmest slide but that's not WWW things like Green Room and Tornado are always freezing they never warm up! Also do they put covers over the cave of waves... I know WnW wavepool gets it, but its pretty square, but the Cave of Waves isn't so square?!?! Gold Coaster the problem is, one: pools cost a lot to heat a mean turning up the heater one degree in an olympic adds alot to the power bill, and they have covers put on them at night to keep the heat in costing less power and making it warmer, putting covers over a lazy river would be a hard task plus its so spread out heating would cost alot and yes wouldn't have covers two: lazy rivers use a lot of staff being that there are a lot of blind corners, the amount of guests in park and the amount of staff taken to run them just doesn't add up for them I imagine guest to staff ratio just wouldn't see the point in having all those staff for like 3 or maybe people on it. Other rides don't take that many staff to run them compared to a lazy river. Anyway thats how see, if it is different or could be done different then... yea just tell me or something.
-
Well Tatsu was 21mil kinda not what our parks spend considering then the exchange rate... however it was built on a mountain and in an area where its prone to earthquakes which I say added to costs... don't know about Manta... but maybe smaller versions of these could be in our parks budget?!?! Oh and Shiekra is 13.5milUS thats another one in our reach although Griffon was 15.6milUS.
-
The differnece is that yesterday was the school holidays and its autumn not winter, guarentee you by Winter and during school, the majority of the time the place will be dead same with W'n'W bet it was packed over these holidays and not so packed over winter... its just what happens in our water parks in winter Queenslanders think its too cold, only people in there are from down south where its hot compared to their winter
-
Okay I swear that post is De Ja Vu that saw the same one somewhere but I'm to tired to bothered if its yes or no. The last two well the suspended looping... we already have something similiar... I want something that's fun but different would be cool... and LW is very rough so if it was Vekoma obviously their new track and train would have to be in order and different layout offering a different experience to LW, B&M inverted I'm up for but still the average Joe would need a noticable difference or they would think copy of LW afterall thats from what I gather is most people reaction to WWW, not that WWW isn't bad and in its own is different but most general public I know don't see much difference... but yea a cobra roll, for me, would have to be on the B&M. A Maverick ride would be awesome so would a Millenium Force... what you need to look at is our parks have never spent over 20mil on their rides... these might be to ambitious 21milUS for Maverick which would cost us more and 25mil for Millenium unless they go all out I don't see us going that big... maybe samller versions but not the full size and TTD or King Da Ka well its one trick pony and real expensive if we had that I'd expect it to do something like SE or Xcelerator after the top hat and besides SE does it one a smaller scale GD goes nearly as tall as it and although its completely different and I've never been on TTD or King Da Ka but you go high and fast on TOT sooooo yea.... But hey we can dream can't we? My dream I would love to see a B&M Flying or floorless dive! Oh yea and the whole front page of Parkz on latest forum updates is all DW topics
-
Didin't someone say here along the lines a while ago that the Wipeout only had a certain amount of life left before it would have to go or something along similiar? Anyway yes DW is safe we can establish that but things in life happen... who would have known the Wild West could catch fire, the park and its owners other parks have a great safety record but it happened although it wasn't the ride it was it's building... still things happen in parks and yes I'm proud to say both Ardent and Village have very safe parks... not only does our law make them have it the parks themselves take it upon themselves to do this. I don't have proof but we know they examine their rides every morning and once or maybe more a year give it a full look over and touch up, we trust them, plus the computer systems are in place to make a problem hopefully minimal. Afterall the parks don't want to be spread across the papers and TV for seriously malfunctioning and injuring or killing staff and patrons.

Well what annoys me is that I will HAVE to back to MW to get my QLD VIP pass done a fourth time or something... everytime they print they either spell my name wrong or its already expired and the other day I was asked did you purchase this pass in 2006??? ITS BEEN AROUND SINCE LAST YEAR, how could I have purchased it that many years ago, (which they were also very rude) so I decided im not gonna waste my day lining up AGAIN I stayed for the day and at 5pm I went over to it to have it done, witht the place already shut, but still some people were in there. I asked could I go in as my pass had the wrong date and front gate staff told me they wouldn't let me in again, she told me no, come back another day. I told her I can't they told me they want let me in. She rudly and flatly said no I should have known what time they stopped doing passes (you think for guests it would be once people have exited not before 5) and I simply told her you should have known you stuffed up my pass 3 times and walked off. I dont really think I want to go back to get it fixed. Other things happened so I could have my pass fixed...only to be meet by rude staff. And the first time they spelt my name wrong no one knew how to change it and reprint after ages of trying to fix it they still got it wrong!!! It just annoys me... once fair enough, everyone makes mistakes... but three?
-
I went on the first night of halloween... there was only one train running. I went two weeks ago, one train running, I went one week ago, one train running. There is no other train in sight, that I can see, and that being the red train.

Probably has nothing to do with a new ride or anything, but the other day as I was waiting just inside the gate for friends to come through ALDER construction people came through, I reckonised one of them from working on a building I was at, they said something to a staff member and were pointed in the direction to the staff entry and the offices... just thought it was interesting as to why they would be there, considering their job is to build things!
