  1. After my RCT2 disk wasn't working, I threw it at the wall in disgust and it shattered. I later inspected it and there were many scratches in it that I assume contributed to the non-working disk in the first place. If I had RCT2, I would play it over RCT3 any day. RCT2>RCT3>RCT. RCT2 offered so much more realism and freedom is design. Unfortunately I still haven't got another copy, and I've been left with only RCT & RCT3 to use. Out of them, I use RCT3 the most.
  2. It's hardly a ride that has to be seen to be believed. It wasn't the most spectacular looking ride at the show, it was hardly the most extreme (Claw and Zipper take that honour) and it doesn't have the greatest ride motions (Claw & Rainbow get that honour). It was fun though, much taller when you're on it than when you're watching it. Why was it rejected? I would have thought it would have been a good money maker for the show.
  3. -->QUOTE(Tony B @ Apr 18 2006, 02:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hello?? :taps mic: Is this thing on? Perhaps the lack of response was due to the lack of intriguing discussion that this thread offers. Alas; RCT (+All Expansions) RCT2 (+Wacky Worlds) RCT3 Hyper Rails
  4. Lol. Indeed Gazza, indeed. I suggest buying a Faller model of a flume ride (I think it's a flume). If you buy one of those, you'll stand a better chance of completing in than you would building your own. The chance you'll complete your own is close to zero. kthxbai
  5. Anyone been so far? Here are my thoughts on this year's show. The Space Roller (the new Mondial Topscan) is quite awesome to ride. It has the feeling of the Claw to it (forcefull negative G type), yet it's so much faster, more comfortable and taller...way taller. It's presented brilliantly, it goes for just long enough, it's smooth and it's just a great ride. The only thing missing was the program where the main thingo (my anatomy of rides knowledge has deteriorated) sits high above thr ride and sits and spins, allowing for the gondolas to swing around effortlessly. Otherwise, it was fantastic. The best the show had to offer. 9.5/10 The Twin Flip is horrendously fast and forceful, too much so to enjoy. It's small, and it doesn't stand out. I do reccomend that anyone who can ride it, does so straight away. You'll come back with a new appreciation of wild. 6.5/10 The Zipper was insane this year. Last year I only recorded 3 flips in a row, this year I recorded 15 in a row with no break. It started out slowly, but about halfway through they must have upped the speed because it was freaking insane from that point onward. I was being thrown around in that cage, it was truly awesome. 9/10 Claw was great as usual, it looks superb as well as always. 8/10 Rainbow is one I didn't ride, and it's new colour scheme is aweful. Blue looks horrendous. 2/10 And that's all I rode. It was way too crowded. Anyone else been there yet?
  6. You've missed the entire point of what I said, and I wasn't talking to you.
  7. I'm sure a theme park operated by someone who displayed no knowledge of rides, roller-coasters and theme parks, in a country which has almost a zero need for theme parks, who asks people on the internet for advice will be very succesful in their attempt at opening a theme park. Perhaps I'll become a doctor and not go to university. Maybe I'll open my own business in the clothes industry with no idea about fashion. Better yet, I'll build an alternative to the internal combustion engine that creates energy!
  8. It does look nice to have a few landmarks peeping out of the treeline though. That's what I used to love about Wonderland; when you drove past on the M6 (whatever), it was a nice touch to see the Space Probe from a distance, and then when you got closer, you saw the Bush Beast and Demon. 'Twas nice.
  9. Indeed, whilst it is nice to see the park from the freeway, and it does add to the aura of the park, the average consumer nor the expert is not going to skip or miss a park because they couldn't see it from the freeway. It would be pointless money wasting to do otherwise that could be spent on improving the overall feel within the park or better yet, on rides.
  10. yes, yes it is. Packed to the brim. It's much better to go during the day, albeit a tad more expensive. It's fairly crowded, so you can meet people if that's your thing, but the lines are a maximum of about 10 mins for the most popular rides in peak hours. Showbag stalls are pretty much walkthroughs with no wait at all, and all the exhibits, plant and animal dealies are less crowded then they are on weekends and night times. Day time>Night time
  11. I have a couple of roller-coaster and building designs that I'm willing to contribute, other then that I can't be of much help.
  12. Most people, including myself probably don't have a fast enough computer to run a huge park in RCT3. Having said that, I also don't think I'll have enough time, so unfortunately, I'm out. RCT2 is so much better for this type of stuff though. It has better scenery, it's faster, it's more realistic and it's easier to download. You should try and finish of Paul's island in the RCT2 team park thread, that way, the RCT2 team park will be complete.
  13. As a small point of interest, Prospect Reservoir doesn't serve all of Sydney's metropolitan area. I know that Macarthur gets it's water directly from Wollongong's dams, Cordeux, Nepean, Cataract and Avon. Useless information, but an interesting point anyway.
  14. Good to see some greenery in the otherwise non greenish park. May I suggest hiring some lawnmowers for the grass in your area to give it a more crisp, fresh look? And speaking of construction, I remember back when I still had RCT2, occasionally when I was creating a huge new coaster, I'd go into full blown construction mode and create little wooden construction barriers, cranes (out of support scenery), sandy dirt to make it seem more constructiony and signs all over the park hyping up the new addition to my park. Sad? Yes. Pathetic? Yes. Fun? Yeah, I found it fun anyway
  15. http://www.rcdb.com/ig3254.htm?picture=12 Those supports look damn huge.
  16. Hooray! Please, screenshots for us devoid of RCT2-ness people.
  17. It could work, but it could just as easily work at Dreamworld, which is the park I prefer to go to and support. So long as we're suggesting, I concur (eh? there's a good reference for you buddy) with Goliath that a flying coaster would be absolutely brilliant.
  18. Yeah! Wait, no, I don't have RCT2 anymore. It wasn't working so I threw it at a wall and it cracked. Damnit. Go ahead, I could be a judge...via screenshots. Damnit again.
  19. Forgive me for sounding like an idiot, but is that to say that you support the idea of a B&M at Dreamworld? Because that's what it sounds like to me. Alas, I would love a B&M inverted coaster there, but I would definately support a new and innovative coaster over yet another burger shop. But a B&M Inverter is no other burger shop, as Richard was saying (I think). Hmmm, I'd be happy with any new coaster actually.
  20. Thanks for the words of wisdom there "spotty" aka Daniel, but Gazzas point remains. The burger shop is always going tobe more popular with the masses and hence make more money. It's good to be innovative, but it's easier and more sensible to stick to the popular formula. That's why Bob Hawke was such a popular PM.
  21. Why do people open up food shops when there's already a thousand in the local town? To get a slice of the action and top hopefully send the other one down. And are wooden roller-coaster that appealing to the general public? They want, bigger, fast, and cooler looking rides, not something that they view to be old and dilapadated (as false as that may be).
  22. No, I haven't ridden a B&M Inverted coaster, but I think it's fairly obvious that they are the better ride. You go to any roller-coaster forum, ask any roller-coaster fan and ask them which is better, B&M Inverter or a Vekoma SLC? I don't need to have ridden the ride to know that it's better.
  23. Yes, it would be a much better ride, I don't see why you bothered to make such a useless point, but I'm glad you agreed with me. Now, as for Scooby and Superman; whilst Superman may draw in the crowds for being a new ride, for the average non informed theme park goer, they're going to see Superman, and the fact that it has less speed, less height and less reputation and beleive that TOT is still the ultimate fast ride on the GC. I just asked my family then actually, and as uninformed theme park goers they said exactly what I stated above. They beleive that Dreamworld offers the best attractions for a thrill rider, and the Lethal Weapon really doesn't make it a worthwhile contender. With an inverted roller-coaster, Dreamworld can finally say that they have everything Movieworld and Seaworld have in terms of rides, and the average consumer will believe it. Scooby Doo - Eureka Mine Train Corkscrew - Cyclone Superman - TOT Pirate - Claw Lethal Weapon - B&M Inverted. People will see things like that and believe that Movieworld offers little to go for in terms of thrill rides that Dreamworld doesn't have. Now of course we all know that's not true. The Corkscrew is much better then the Cyclone (best Roller-coaster on the GC IMO), Superman is probably much better then TOT (I haven't ridden it), Scooby Doo is waaay better then Eureka, and Lethal weapon is crappier than a B&M inverted coaster. I love Movieworld, almost as much as Dreamworld, but really, with a B&M Inverter they can say they have as much, and more then Movieworld has to offer in terms of rides. Nebu "Why do people bother to put these things after their name? It's annoying, and that's what a signiture is for, although it's quite hard to get a signiture to display a random thing in between their name, I'm sure it's possible." Chanezzar
  24. They seem to be doing fairly well with their current set of rides, and Australias population isn't going to rise dramatically anytime soon, I really don't think a new roller-coaster is a nessecity for them. Having said that, I'd love them to buy one! Get a B&M inverted coaster, but Lethal Weapon to shame, if they were to do that then they could easily become the only worthwhile park on the Gold Coast.
