  1. Zipper should go the way that 'X' did at SFMM. Paint it bright yellow and bright pink. That'd look cool! As for comparing Carnies to world vision people, Paul, come on, I really don't think you can or should compare the two. The world vision people are doing this out of the goodness of their heart and trying to help other people, they don't yell, and they're not rude.
  2. Bah, if everyone is saying something then you'd expect that it very well could and most likely is true. Go B&M, woo!
  3. "Zippers cages look tacky" I don't mind the look and colour of the Zipper cages. The red and yellow suit each other.
  4. So true, so I attempt to stay as far away from those games as possible. I love the rides, but hate the games. If there were no games the carnival world would be a much nicer place. Have you been the the Easter Show recently? I can tell you that it takes a helluva lot more than a simple 'no thankyou' to get them off your back. It wasn't like I started out being an asshole to them, I did start with no thankyou, but it does get to you after a while. People always yelling at you, screaming into a microphone to get you to come and play one if their rigged (or "skill") games, and if you do say no they begin to yell in an even more obnoxious, loud and annoying voice. After being yelled at for over an hour, I ended up just walking right past them whenever I had to pass them, but let me guess...that's rude as well? Surely these people know that people abusing them is part of the job. It's the same as a prime minister accepts that he is going to become a very unpopular person amongst certain groups, it's the same as a garbage man is going to have to accept that people may look down upon them (although most garbos are friendly people), it's the same as some people think of lawyers as vermin, scum of the earth. The carnies should realise that they aren't very popular with people due to their loud and obnoxious ways of drawing crowds into play their "skill" games and for that reason, they should deal with my (and other peoples) rudeness. Having said that, I also have to say that the rude, loud and obnoxious carny is just a stereotype that is unfortunately true to only a select group of carnival folk. There are some that start with "hey buddy wanna win a prize?" and then leave you alone, and there are the others that are plain rude. These people are the ones I have a problem with, and force me to become rude overall.
  5. The guys on the Twin Flip were probably the nicest of all the show folk there. They actually talked to you and acted like normal people (much like those on the Hard Rock and Claw). They actually liked their job, and didn't abuse people. As for those horrid people that attempt to lure you into playing their sideshow games, I tried everything I could think of on the day to get em away from me... "I don't wanna play" "I'm broke" "I don't have any money" "I'm allergic" "I have to rush over there" "I have to go somewhere" "Please, leave me alone" They just don't give up, they're horrible!
  6. What do you mean the Zipper is fine as long as you don't have someone who is constantly rocking the cage? Thats crazy, next time I go on it I'm gonna be rocking the cage all night long, it'll make the ride ten times better. The thing next to the Zipper? That'd either be the Megamix or the Claw. Never rode the Megamix but when you ride the Claw it doesn't exactly feel like you're going to fall out, rather, it feels like you're going to be thrown out very violently. Man I love that ride. Sounds like you had a good time, even though you went on Good Friday (bad mistake if you ask me) As for where the Rainbow is, I love it in that position, although I kinda wish it was facing the rest of the carnival somehow. The fact that it's sitting smack bang at the front of the main entrance to the carnival is great though, and it always manages to pull me in for a ride.
  7. Is that a comment about my review, or about the ongoing discussions on the roller-ghoster etc. I also forgot to add that the rides are a lot more packed in this year. For instance, the Rainbow and Breakdance were missing each other by that much (imagine a small distance between your index finger and your thumb), same with the Megamix and the Twin Flip, right next each other they were.
  8. Aw how sweet, regardless. Nebuchanezzars 2005 Easter Show Review Pictures shall be here on Monday, if I can find a scanner. Overall, the day kinda sucked. It was raining, then it was misty raining, then it rained, and as soon as we were finished at the carnival, it came out sunny. It was set out nicely as it always is, with everything set up in a way so that you can't get lost, and the carnival was a bit more cramped than normal (more on that later). Following, are individual ride reviews in order of favouritism, or how much I enjoyed each this year. Hard Rock - This was easily the biggest stand out ride this year, with almost a full load every single time it went, even when it was raining. Nice long rides, and it was very brightly lit up, so it was the first ride everyone saw. It was also at the front of the carnival (in front of the Rainbow),so it was hard to miss. Easily the best ride of the day, the carnival folk were friendly, and gave a nice long ride. 10/10 Rainbow Still not my favourite ride yet, but a great one none the less. The sun looked different (and somehow bigger) than last year, and it looked pretty nice. I heard something about a light pole being snapped off on the Rainbow, but everything was in one piece. The lights were fully functional (I didn't see any on the face though), and it looked great when the sun was setting. It was also shinyer than normal when the sun did come out. I rode this one twice in the day, once at the front, once at the back. The front gives a better ride I reckon. It was long, fast and great fun, easily a 9.5/10 Twin Flip- HOLY CRAP! This is one damn intense ride and a half. They start by spinning the whole ride around a helluva lot, and god damn, it made my face go to one side it was spinning that fast (it was worse than the Super-Sizzler). You then seem to get a break when it begins to flip upside down but it ends up more intense than the Claw. I hate to say it, but this ride is better than the Claw in basically every way except what it looks like, It just looks a little bit silly, it reminded me of the KMG Experience, but the Experience looks a whole lot better. Intense, fast, a lot of upside down-ness, this gets a 9/10 Zipper- Whoa, the ride operator for this ride is a total ass. You see, it was raining, and the Claw guy had just told me to wait 10 minutes or so while they test the ride, so I went to the Zipper and asked the fella out the front if this ride was working or not. He responded with a friendly "If it wasn't do you think I'd be standing out here, stupid f**kwit. Well hey, at least I'm not a carny, asshole. Anyway, this ride was too short, it went for about the same time as all the other rides I went on during the day, but it was still too short. As a certain carnival ride officianado once said "the best part is when you flip over the sides", well god damn, that is correct. That is the best bit. The most we flipped was only 3 times, which was a little dissapointing, but we were stuck upside down at one point for a while. A great ride, spoiled only by the ass working on it. 7.5/10 Claw No! I don'y know how to say this, but this ride seemed kinda average this year. Don't get me wrong, it was still fast and intense, but compared to the Hard Rock and Twin Flip, this was just kinda...really average. It still looks great when you're watching it though, and it has a special place in my ride...heart, so it's still my favourite ride. 7/10 Unfortunately, due to rain, and lack of want, I didn't ride any others yesterday. I skipped on the ones I had ridden in previous years that I couldn't be bothered riding again (Chaos, Thunderbolt, Hurricane, CliffHanger, Super Sizzler, Ranger [which I really wanted to ride]), but everything was in fine working order for the most part of the day. The Techno Jump looked okay, the Ranger was in full swing, the Energy Storm looked pretty crap and cheap, mega-drop sucks, and the rest of them were normal. A good day anyway. If you have any questions just ask. Pictures hopefully some time next week.
  9. Dammit, I'm sure that it wasn't the same roller-coaster, about, er, 95% sure but yeah, it's one of those mass produced ones. I'm now going on a Wednesday for sure. Can't wait peoples. Zipper, Claw, Chaos, Twin Flip, Energy Storm, Hard Rock, Rainbow, Techno Jump, Ranger! BAH! Too much excitement!
  10. Yeah, it does sound like the radio was jumping the gun a bit. At school today for instance, everybody was talking about it as if there is definately going to be another theme park built there. As a side note, I'd prefer to have a Busch park there.
  11. Ranger will be there, good. The date I'm going has changed, by one day, so I'll be going on the Tuesday, which is, uh, 2 days away! Woo hoo!!! As for the Zipper, it's the first ride I'm riding (me and my friend made sure we'll be going on it this year), so it'll either be a great introduction to the day, or something that will spoil the days proceedings due to incessant vomiting.
  12. I personally doubt that Six Flags would even consider putting a theme park in Australia at this time. In fact, isn't Six Flags still in a bit of a financial problem time still? I'd like Cedar Fair to build one out here, but that is probably even less likely. Either way, build it near Camden, yes, that's a great idea!
  13. I can't stand ghost trains, they're boring and a complete waste of money, regardless of whichever one it is. I'd much rather use my hard earned cash on something that is geniuinly thrilling, such as the Zipper (first time for me this year ) or the Claw or this new fangled Energy Storm ride which really does like like a blast. And about the absense of the Ranger, it just won't be the same without a double swinging ship ride around, farewell, my son.
  14. Claw is the greatest. Without a shadow of a doubt. It looks great, is great, feels great, and has uncomfortable restraints that can make for some interesting riding positions. Seven days to go until I get to ride this piece of great machinery again (4 times last year, I need to do it more, More, MORE!). I'm gonna get my pictures put onto CD this time, so I'll be able to share my show pictures all around! Hooray!
  15. Tell me please, are they ever planning on doing a little something with Maloney's corner (that's the name right?), or is it just gonna keep going as a scrappy concrete mess for the rest of LP's life. Please, help cheer up ol Jim here. Go the Ranger.
  16. They might, but by that token you could say they can do half of the stuff they come over here for, in their own country. Judging by what I've heard about the Japanese tourists (this could be a stereotype, I dunno), they love everything about Australia, and hence if a Disney theme park was to be built over here with a bit of Australian theming (Disney's Australian Adventure, as someone mentioned before), you'd expect it would do rather well from the tourist peoples from Japan, China etc.
  17. Bah, people don't usually go into Sydney to do some light shopping, they go there to do heavy shopping. Even when they have the intention of only buying a couple of small items, they'd most likely come back with quite a bit more luggage than they wanted. Storage would also be a problem on that ride, where to put the new T-Shirt you just brought, the storage compartment you speak of would most likely be used for wallets and the like. The idea of a high speed rail link between Parramatta and Sydney isn't bad though. Scotts idea of a roller-coaster going over the harbour bridge I like a lot. It'd be hella fun, give great views, offer some nice feeling in terms of g-forces (if you went over at the right speed), in fact, I love the idea!
  18. Um, er. Well, no, unless your talking about a long time ago, I have no idea what was at LPS back in the 70's and such. But I'm pretty sure that the Ranger that they have now has been their only one in these modern LP days. And the Ranger they have now can't even have two ships, unless some severe modifications were done to it.
  19. Disney park in Australia, I like it. It's gonna be several years before I'll be able to travel overseas, so this would make life a lot more enjoyable for young Jim! But uh, I'm not gonna get too excited over a mere luncheon involving the premier and some Disney executives.
  20. Techno Jump eh. That thing looked like a cheap peace of crap, yet surprisingly like Chaos. 11 days until I go. woo!
  21. As I've said before, bless Bob Carr. He is truly a great man. And travel the Ranger around? I don't like the idea, it's better for me sitting there at Luna Park
  22. It is going to be focused around the Boxing Day tsunami. I feel it's in poor taste.
  23. Bah, the god damn trains make more noise than the Ranger does (hell, I even took a walk up the stairs next to the apartments closest to the Ranger), so they have no reason to complain, asses.
