  1. More problems for the wheel... http://www.heraldsun...x-1226209279430
  2. It's looking like a retheme of Sesame Street Beach is on the cards. Sesame Street Beach has been removed from Sea World's attraction listing and the above has been posted on their maintenance page. A generic name like Beach Ball Bounce makes me wonder if it is an interim measure with the plans to open a Nickelodeon area at Easter next year to match what Dreamworld are doing with DreamWorks.
  3. The Swarm's track is fully complete with pull-through tests beginning last week. I love the look of the keyholes (i.e. head, foot and arm choppers). I wonder if Thorpe Park is planning on theming them in a similar style to what Six Flags is going to do with X-Flight at Great America? http://www.facebook....8536083?sk=wall
  4. If you are referring to The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, I could hardly see something like that coming to our parks (as much as I would like to see it or Transformers-style ride here).
  5. Following on from last week's news the 8 candidates have been narrowed down to 2. http://www.nola.com/...ix_flags_r.html
  6. It definitely looks faster than I thought it would be. When operating fully though I guess it would come down to the ride ops keeping the ride loading and unloading quick. If they didn't, the trains would stack and would lose their pace in the block brakes.
  7. Movie World have confirmed a 122.4 degree drop. Good on Movie World for pushing the boundary just that bit further. http://www.facebook....227554590646246 (see reply)
  8. Sorry to bring back an old topic, but I thought I'd post an update on this. The Universal Studios Singapore ride is now in its "technical rehearsals" phase ahead of its official opening in a couple of weeks. A full account of the ride with pictures of the queue and surroundings can be found here. Meanwhile in Hollywood, a vastly different facade has gone into place ahead of their ride's 2012 opening.
  9. I believe there was a media call. From the Gold Coast Bulletin today:
  10. Some more pics from Theme Park Review:
  11. Thanks Joz. I thought that the slides might have been relocated. I don't know if it is just the photo but it looks as if the broadwater is really close to the castle. Do you know if they extended the border of Sea World out into the broadwater or is it just the angle? I would think that this would be very unlikely but it appears the edge of the park in 1982 is what is currently the pathway down towards Dolphin Cove and Castaway Bay.
  12. The above picture of Sea World, from 1982, was recently posted by the Gold Coast Bulletin in a gallery on the Life and Times of Keith Williams. In the top left corner I think I can make out the castle with a series of water slides branching off it. Does anyone have any more info on these? Were they the same body slides that existed at the water park for years (just in a different location), or are these something different?
  13. The created 6 months ago, quietly died 2 days after it was created, so maybe not.
  14. ^ the Dreamworks Experience precinct will be the retheming of Kid's World / Nick Central. One news report last night said there would be new rides while another said it would only be retheming of existing rides, so make of it what you will. Also a $10 million price tag was mentioned on the news that is not detailed on the press release below: http://about.dreamwo...ND-TO-2011.aspx
  15. I wasn't making it into a competition or saying I was better than anyone else. I was mearly stating at the time I began my post the question was still unanswered, hence I responded. Once I had finished and submitted my post I realised S.Willie had answered the question just minutes earlier.
  16. I started typing my post before you had posted. I hit the submit button and then found you had already posted it.
  17. http://www.facebook....239342026121460 Turns out Green Lantern's drop will be the second steepest in the world (Takabisha is number 1 with a drop of 121 degrees). In regards to theming, I think it is already better than Six Flags' attempt.
  18. The helicopter ride was removed sometime between July last year and January this year. Umbrellas were installed in their place in the first half of this year.
  19. I did think that retheming Sesame Street Beach would be a logical decision but it seemed like Sea World were happy to let the two themes run together.
  20. Other than the generic maintenance statements, no, nothing... It is a bit of a shame that it has been more than a year since Bermuda closed (18 October 2010) and we still haven't heard any more details then what we knew then.
  21. Sorry, I've just found out I missed the 3 most recent updates. I used to rely on them being posted in the Latest News & Updates forum. As I come straight to the View New Content page on the forums, I have missed them just being posted on the home page. Thanks for the heads up though.
  22. Wild Eagle now has its track complete and Dollywood have released a POV and flyover of the ride:
  23. Nice photo Ian. Is the track now fully complete? Also I just noticed that Movie World have advertised Green Lantern Coaster being one of the rides open during White Christmas, so it looks like they are planning for a pre-Boxing Day opening (if everything goes to schedule).
  24. I find it funny the way that Dreamworld have altered their pricing for this financial year. They have ditched their traditional annual passes completely in favour of the Unlimited World Passes (till June 2012 or 2013). Dreamworld have also been doing something similar to what Village have now picked up on - have a $99 Holiday World Pass for 21 days. There's also the fact that people visiting might be only wanting to visit one or two of the parks (but aren't decided as to which). If one company can offer a better deal than the other one then the tourists might be more likely to spend their money on that pass. Any revenue would be better than no revenue in that situation.
