  1. *That's not just anyone standing up in front of small children. You probably can't tell because you can't see his rolled up denim shorts from that angle but that's the TPSN guy.
  2. Yeah, I don't think there were complaints. Obviously the government and InspireWa couldn't come to an agreement over the land near Whiteman Park. Judging from the WA budget, the government won't have any spare funds for awhile and that any new tourist spending is going to have to come from the private sector. It will be interesting to see if anything comes from this.
  3. Sounds like the Inspire WA guys have been talking to the Ettamogah group. Looks like they're eyeing off the Swan Valley area (not far from where their last effort settled on) for a hotel and entertainment precinct. https://www.businessnews.com.au/article/Outback-icon-coming-to-the-city Also found some interesting footage from 2012 which I don't recall seeing.
  4. Peter Pan's Flight @ Shanghai - looks pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ES7iVOYRwI&feature=share
  5. Does that mean they need to place a sign on every door so someone doesn't wander in?
  6. Something to look forward to in Shanghai. http://www.meipai.com/media/515394729?from=qq
  7. Fearfall.. like every other park or name it after one of the towers in Lord of the Rngs. I like the idea of linking it back to Abyss.
  8. Dave has gone by that nick name before - it took about half a minute to verify it. https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/rec.roller-coaster/wJZp-gjbNe4 I think it's highly unlikely someone would go to that detail to impersonate someone who is connected to the new development. I also think his use of language indicated he is a professional. Of course I think the best way for park representatives to get on board at Parkz is to contact Richard or do what Matk Shaw did by using his real name and an original photograph, but then again that's Dave's prerogative.
  9. Ouch! Thanks Mark, that's interesting news about the pond and the paddle boat lake. Will the old castle island disappear too? Good to hear Freefall will make a return. Hopefully, it'll have a theme or look close to Abyss'.
  10. Apparently BSG had a technical stop last month and there was a fire at Legoland Malaysia last year. Legoland Malaysia is due to get the Ninjago ride later on this year. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/riders-rescued-from-universal-studios-battlestar-galactica-ride-after-it-stops-due-to http://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2015/07/17/legoland-fire-damages-miniland-no-casualties/ http://www.screamscape.com/html/legoland_malaysia.htm
  11. ^Says who? I'm not a fan of people who think all theme parks should be on the GC. I just look at the wonderful things Mark has done at Adventure World and think that every capital city in Australia should have this. Hats off to anyone willing to stick their necks out for even the possibility of a park.
  12. That new art work looks great. I like the idea of a wilderness park. It's looking a lot more like a resort now, a bit like Sentosa. Cool.
  13. Probably because of the 12th anniversary of the closing of the park. Interesting ideas for the naming of the new parks. David was on the forums for awhile. Maybe we'll hear from him again in the near future.
  14. Last day of Adventure World's 2015-2016 season, today. Despite the ridiculously bad weather forecast, lots of people turned up to enjoy the final use of their season passes. Only the main gate was open, but they did have a person scanning prepaid online entry tickets and giving out wristbands (which is a great idea). It was so wet at the beginning of the day, people just packed all of their belongings into lockers. Anywhere there was shelter, people were there. Some were dressed for winter; the rest of us were dressed for swimming, which is what I did first. Had my final two goes of the Kraken for the season. It was about a two minute wait time each time (and that's with one op at the top and loading two, three or four passengers at a time. Abyss appeared to be only running one train and wait times were about ten minutes on average. The Grand Prix Raceway didn't get started (due to the wet track, I presume) and most of the other rides alternated quite successfully. Needless to say, the Freefall was out of action. I hope it makes a comeback next season with a new paint job. The food was great, as usual, and the team members all put on a brave face, despite the wet weather. Cheers Mark, thanks for another great season.
  15. Shinkansen is great. Flying domestically in Japan is not too bad. USS is quiet for most of the year except June and late December. The zoos, aquariums and gardens in Singapore are also worth spending some time at. Winter in Hong Kong is pretty mild, much like the winters here in Australia. I think September is a great time to visit Japan. You'll want to avoid winter and summer. I thought the operations in Japan were excellent - it's just the enormous numbers that really slow you down. These parks are well patronised and the locals certainly know what they're doing. Get there early and purchase a fast pass for USJ if you can. Japanese parks are huge and awesome (DisneySea!) and are full day parks (or longer). Most of the attractions are in Japanese, but it's not too hard to follow what's going on. Learn a few phrases of Japanese if you can. If you're staying outside of the resort area, the trains are very efficient and they have some good apps to help you navigate the subway network. I actually stayed at an Air bnb in Tokyo that was very nice.
  16. Yeah, that Q1 lift is special. Went up the original WTC towers before and after the 93 bombing. They were pretty cool buildings. However, there was a noticeable increase in security between the two trips.
  17. ^So dueling coasters like Battlestar Galactica then?
  18. Stitch's Great Escape was a retheme from the Alien ExtraTerrestrial Encounter, which I didn't mind, but it really stuck out as inappropriate for the Magic Kingdom. Maybe they could retheme SuperBatman to humans vs aliens for Independence Day. ?
  19. In Melbourne at the moment. There's a thing called Galactic Circus which is billed as an indoor theme park. Basically, it's a laser tag, bowling and arcade zone. Yeah, I think the Docklands area would be a really bad place for a theme park. There's no room and it probably wouldn't suit the tone of the area. Still think the Werribee idea would have been good.
  20. Same with Conan: The Barbarian, which was R rated here. Universal made a great show out of it and had some excellent meet and greet characters.
  21. With Scoot, Jetstar, Tiger and AirAsia flying to places like Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan it's never been so easy to get to one of the major theme parks. I remember when the closest were in California.
  22. Don't a lot of rides come with seat covers/tarps? I've seen Freefall at AW with some solid looking ones.
  23. Yeah the choices that 6 Flags DC World has been making lately haven't been great. We all know what rides and themes excite us and, for me, DC isn't it. I won't be travelling the continent to ride a spin and spew either. There are plenty of family pleasing staples that DCW just doesn't address anymore. Like SW - let Joz run the.place!
