  1. And I just said instead of moving it, open it. Good chat
  2. So in the fictitious world where you have power to move it, you don't also have the power to run it differently? Why apply that restriction to your imagination?
  3. I mean if those 2 points weren't back to back you might have a point. For this hypothetical world to work Surfrider needs to have its annual rehab done in 3 months (Late August to early Nov) and Vortext the same (Between Easter and June/July hols). If that isn't possible, throw Surfrider in the bin. Why would you add it to Sea World if the downtime will be the same there? Clearly we think it the downtime can be improved on with a clearer vision and purpose. I've proposed mine, you haven't really said anything of substance at all.
  4. So many things! I'll give you a very brief rundown on 3 points. First is the attraction mix at each park. Vortex and Surfrider have crazy high restrictions of 140cm. Really only your big rides should have restrictions so high, and the number of those should be kept to a minimum. Those rides are both way too small to be considered headline thrill rides at a proper theme park like SW, but by virtue of their height requirements that's the role they occupy. At WnW they would quite suit the role of the big thrill ride in the park. They also lend themselves better to the abstract themeing of WnW. Vortex is also the wrong ride for that land, and if a ride is going to go right next to dolphin pools, it should be either a Ferris wheel or observation tower/flying island. WnW also has an issue that every 2 bit council pool is a water park these days and dipping in to the proslide catalogue. This is more true down south but it's going to be more of a thing in the future. There's increasingly nothing special about WnW any more. It needs a point of difference, and I think a few flat/dry rides will give it that. That's not to say no more new slides, of course not. They're cheap to build and run. A few mechanical headline attractions though seperates it again in what is becoming a pretty crowded water park market. I'm a strong advocate for a shoot the chutes at DW, and I'm also an advocate for one at WnW. One of these parks needs to build one. WnW is also a year round park, if you can operate a couple dry rides over the winter you increase the year round draw; particualy for those from down south who might be on the fence about going on their holidays. It'll still be too cold for locals, but you could probably get a few of those tourists over the line given the right ticketing. So yeah, very brief and only part of it, but very basically that's why.
  5. And I will disagree with you every time you say it. In fact I'll go one better: move vortex to wnw with fountains in summer, and dry in the cooler months.
  6. I'll be really shocked if the tops coaster wasn't a new custom job when built.
  7. Is the pizza still good? Haven't had it for ages but that's always been my go to when I am eating there.
  8. Well all of your guests are programmed that they don't have to check schedules or anything, just turn up and have fun. Do you really want to muck with it and add an extra step for people who are on the fence? I'd argue making it as easy as possible for people is a bigger draw than is appreciated.
  9. Who gave you permission to post the social media policy?
  10. Yeah I think trying to organise a whole second shift for the fully 100 people who would be in the park after 5pm with the weather is a waste of time money and effort. It sucks but lots of things suck now.
  11. Movie World need to add more family friendly attractions. Unless they propose to do so. In which case they suck and they should have got a bigger thrill coaster.
  12. Sucks for them. It's inevitable that sort of thing will happen though. Hopefully their staff are OK and they're back open soon
  13. Have wondered that TBH. It'svery plausible, and if you're MW and you're short on staff you leave the worst ride closed.
  14. Yeah after New Atlantis, SW might only be a good Viking's replacement away from actually being awesome again - or maybe not. It's hard to get a read on where it's at and it's attraction mix is my point. Weirdly I think a couple of the kiddie flat rides are bordering on family friendly as they are legit fun even if you're not a kid. The coaster feels like it's just ticking a box rather than adding anything though. Identity wise though it's pretty easy to see SW's identity is just a park geared towards younger families, which I think sells themselves massively short of where they should be, as it should be a proper family park, not a small kids only park. Again, waiting on NA to see how that shifts in practice. I famously love the pier concept, I don't know MW is the right park for it. Themed to be a different park worked/works for Dreamworld or Sea World, I'm not sure it works as well at Movie World, in the same way I don't think it works in Animal Kingdom or DCA. I was also going to respond to the broader Disney thing but I think @Slick summed up what I was going to say pretty well.
  15. I've said it elsewhere when talking about DW, that getting a daily update makes it sound like the pparks are falling apart when really this sort of shit has always been a thing. MW are quite forward with posting down time on their website these days, and I've noticed a lot of the time people post how rides are closed on the website and they'll open in the afternoon. Not saying that'll happen this time, but it does seem to happen quite a bit.
  16. With maybe one or two exceptions at each park, even the 'high thrill' rides at Disney are totally family friendly, but I think that's what their audience expect. I think there has been a shift in the rest of the industry for a long time away from stuff with appeal across the board, to stuff with a very specific demo in mind, and I think that is a shame. It's part of the reason I think a shoot the chutes for DW would be a significantly better option than a power splash. It's about balance and I'm not sure any of the parks are really hitting that balance as well as they could. MW is a strange one because are Wild West & Scooby genuine family attractions or are they too thrilling? What about Justice League, is it a family ride or not thrilling enough? Is Road Runner a family attraction? If you count all of them as family rides combined with some of the lesser rides like Batwing & GL, the kiddie rides and shows you've got a great park for families! If those rides don't count as family friendly for you, then you've got some poor kids rides, like 3 shows and not much else. I think another genuine family ride for MW is needed (It doesn't have to be a big sprawling dark ride either, it could also be a family friendly flat ride in the kid's section), as well as they're getting due for another big coaster. SW genuinely I can't work out it's mix until after new Atlantis opens. Leviathan is meant to be somewhat family friendly, but my suspicion is that it will probably satisfy more hardened thrill seekers too, and Trident isn't going to be super tall and intimidating, so I'll hold off on judgement and see how it fills out when those things open.
  17. You really can deny this. It's quantifiable and provable, and it's not an old management v new management thing. It's been going down hill for years, and that didn't stop in 2021. ST might be their best ride ever, but the park really sucks right now. Now there's an argument about declines last year being inevitable and nessicary so you can give them a pass but to ignore it entirely and say how much it's improved seems like a combination between wishful thinking and data omission. The park didn't get better when they shortened the train route. The park didn't get better when they closed a bunch of smaller attractions during the year. The park didn't get better when they removed Buzzsaw. The park isn't better because of some temporary entertainment options. Closing White Water World 5 days a week didn't male the place better. I'll pay the whole thing of in order for a forest to grow anew you need a bush fire now and then, and I'll totally give you the idea that basically what's happened at DW recently can be compared to a deliberate purging bush fire - a clear out so the place can grow back (hopefully) better. But you don't look at a freshly blackened landscape and say 'You can't deny this is better'. FWIW, for those who think it's a company thing, I think SW declined, WnW got better (but still off it's peak) and MW stayed pretty much flat, and despite critism for presentation, Luna Park Sydney improved massively.
  18. I mean the date in the title is 2021. Seems pretty unconfirmed to me. You know it's bad when people don't even bother leaving a fountain.
  19. What great news for Doomsday and Batwing to all of a sudden find themselves being called Big rides! Poster above gets it, think they're pretty bang on for this year.
  20. What I want to know is when Gold Coaster closes how well will new Big Dipper fit? Honestly looks like a fun little ride, I reckon it'll be just enough to make me go for a short driving holiday to Sydney.
  21. How sad that DW is the only park affected by those things at this exact moment. Lucky for MW I guess. Nah the weather isn't quite ideal. Dont forget that WWW is the big draw in Coomera, and WnW was pretty moderately attended today. If tomorrow is Sunny, the parks will be utterly rammed though. It's not a huge shock that attendance is not hitting a big peak this year, in fact it was fairly predictable. I think DW more than the others will really be feeling the lower attendance given how much they've thrown at this particular holidays, but really one ride was never going to return it to historical levels. Their best case scenario this year has always been get some good word of mouth out there and build some forward momentum off of these holidays. Maybe a lightly attended park that has some atmosphere might be what they need. Also as much as it's nice to know what's broken down, when you get a daily update of every ride in every park that experiences down time you find yourself saying 'WTF is going on?' when really these sorts of things have been going on since pretty much forever in all parks around the world. It's very easy to lose perspective. Wind also checks out as a reason for downtime with GD and Gold Coaster. Wasn't there to see the wind levels but there was a bit of wind about and those two rides have been susceptible historically.
  22. Oh fair play then, LPS can carry on as is then
  23. I mean surely LP is right and DW need to clarify that ST is the fastest and tallest muti directional launch?
