  1. Here you go... Earlier this month police concluded their investigation as to what caused the Thunder River Rapids Ride to malfunction. However investigators were reported to be unable to recreate the freak conditions that led to the accident. An inquest is likely to be held in the first half of next year. From: http://www.news.com.au/news/dreamworld-issued-three-prohibition-notices-over-buzzsaw-ride-during-whsq-audit/news-story/d005999940acb5077b5995bda959e6cd
  2. It is a saying, ("they let their kids get away with murder...") but was in poor taste in the situation used
  3. There nothing inevitable about what occurred at DW. it was a freak accident that the police & Coroner could not even replicate despite attempting for 3 days... the park has had no problems in the past with its rides being certified, and as has been spoken with at length, TRR was signed off after it's maintained just weeks before. You don't know more than the police, the coroner, third party certifiers, Dreamworld maintenance, Dreamworld management or, by the looks of things, a lot of people here. If you don't want to visit the park for whatever reason, then don't, but don't fancify up some bullshit to justify your reasoning
  4. No, most of the general public DONT think it's a steal. I wish they did, as if prices for annual passes were raised we'd have more investments in park. But, most average families on the GC alternate which annual pass they buy each year, so they are not going to buy a $250-300 annual pass. Not now that the market has been acclimatised to 3 parks for a year for $99. Lots of people do go to the USA, but it's not the same market that makes up the majority of DW/MWs visitors And to further add, there is no proof that their was dodgy operation of anything at DW, so it might pay to keep your mouth shut.
  5. For the investment required to bring DW up to a Disney standard park, so you think they'll be offering $99 annual passes? I think not. Don't forget how much people blew up when the passes went up by $10 and buy 3 get 1 free was removed. The locals here are accustomed to, and now expect, bargain basement theme park pricing, so you won't double attendance by slapping a Disney badge on & upgrading facilities unless you offer comparable DW type pricing. Either way it's a moot point...
  6. Eat Street is ok, and was the only thing of its kind really until Nightquarter & Marquetta opened. Nightquarter is a lot better laid out, weather proof and a much better atmosphere. That's like 40mins away.. not far at all
  7. ?? Nothing like the Ekka at all... have you been to nightquarter? Quality food, licenced venue, live music.
  8. Dude you are seriously starting to shit me.. whats with the 'lol'... if you have some factual basis for believing Fareground, or Nightquarter for that matter, are/will be trashy, then bring it to the table or STFU.. seriously..
  9. If I have admitted I was wrong and made a misjudgment, there is no need to continue to try & convince me I was wrong...
  10. The nightquarter is amazing and has gone from strength to strength in its first year. Miami Marketta is also great, this provides a similar offering in between. Will be immensely popular and successful IMO. Nothing trashy about what is being planned.
  11. The tram won't be going to Nerang. It would be up on bricks after each stop. Tram will eventually run from Helensvale to the airport, with potentially a branch off to robina in about 15 years time
  12. you can't live life in fear. Thousands die on the road each year, families could be forgiven for worrying everytime they get behind the wheel that their kids could be hurt, but you cautiously move on. Most of the general public understand that a freak accident took place. The chance of a freak accident occurring again is no more likely to happen at DW as it is at any other park, and I think that's fairly common knowledge.
  13. Apologies to @SunshineTom seems excessive, but clearly I was wrong
  14. Pfft... says who? Maybe a couple of times a year but not regularly SunshineTom is the source. Of course.
  15. Or the other maintenance requirements and re-certifications as required by the qld government caused the planned work on Scooby to be delayed...
  16. My point exactly magician, DW isn't going to invest as heavily in landscaping as Universal is, especially when they licensing or film property to link it to
  17. A dinosaur themed land is craziness.. The thing with dinosaur themed lands, the landscaping and scenery is as much if not more important than the dinosaurs. Unless you have land that naturally lends itself to that kind of theme, it's not going to be pulled off without an absolute buckload of money.
  18. Really don't get the obsession with an 'Australiana theme'. We're in Australia already FFS, I have an Australiana theme everytime I walk outside of my house or go for a drive. There are plenty of 'australia' driven experiences already in most of the capital cities to fill the niche for the international tourist market.
  19. I could reply to that, but @AlexB already did it for me... unfortunately for you, it's Dreamworld, not SunshineTom World...
  20. DW has done a great job in the past couple of years in revitalising the park. Whilst there have been no signature rides installed, the overall park itself and it's offerings are greatly improved
  21. You are way over-analysing. Again. if I tell my missus there's awesome fares available to the US at the moment, that doesn't mean there is no way to return back to Australia, or that the return flights are expensive, just because I didn't mention that.
  22. So guests drive to the park, then catch the ferry home? Do buses only work one way? There is either a functioning ferry terminal, or there isn't.
