  1. Happy to see Pepsi come into the park. Much prefer Max to Zero so makes me happy. As for a switch to Pepsi at AMF, it's a definitely possibility that was being discussed 6 months ago, so with DW making the jump I would say the other Ardent properties may follow suit
  2. They do full rehearsals for a couple weeks prior so evening opening weekend is usually pretty spot on, but by second week it's all smooth
  3. Makes sense, by charging more for the historically peak nights, you either make more revenue from the same capacity, or push others to less popular nights and share the load
  4. How many press releases, websites, Facebook posts and radio ads do MW have to put out before people listen to them. FOUR mazes All NEW mazes The amount of posts questioning this or completely disregarding it is crazy!
  5. What do u classify as good quality?? Scooby Doo cost $12m approx over 10 years ago. Cost of materials, construction, shipping is even more now than it was then (inflation, taxes etc) so building an identical replica to Scooby would probably now cost you more than $12m (assuming like for like construction)
  6. You may be able to critique a ride you haven't been on, in the example of the kids ride, by the reactions and experiences of your own children or just from viewing others on a ride, and draw conclusions based on that. You could also draw conclusions from reviews/hearsay or POV videos. But, to already be criticising, well even more than that, straight up writing it off, when it hasn't even opened and no one bar a couple of maintenance/techs have even been on it (probably sans the experience of the effects etc) is just silly IMO...
  7. But with the exception of Storm (where half the reported fee was likely the demo of BT and site clearance) no recent additions have been anywhere near the lofty costs of ToT.
  8. As I said earlier, you can't judge Driving School as you've never experienced it, and you are not the target audience. HWSD2 - you have to refresh things once in a while, I'm sure they were aiming for a better show, and it fell a little flat (haven't seen it myself yet). Justice League - first of its kind ride in Australia. Could have been executed better and marketed stronger Don't think any of the 3 examples you gave have anything to so with 'standards' being dropped, unless by standards by your definition is spending all capital on new rollercoasters. Well the only ride that fits the description you offered up is LTRR, so if that is not what your specifically referring to, then what are you judging this drop in standards/form to? Or are you saying the standards were never there??
  9. So your dislike of Driving School is really due to your disappointment at losing LTRR. So would we be having this same conversation if the LTRR building had been bulldozed and a world class rollercoater built?? At the end of the day, LTRR was at a place where it was either beyond repair, or financially non-viable to remain open. There is no point judging Driving School as a replacement LTRR because I don't think that was the point of it at all, even though it utilises some of the old LTRR building. Judge as what it is, a new kids ride, and it could be amazing even if we as adults never get to ride it ourselves. For all we know MW may have a world class family attraction planned for 2015/16 that could be a true replacement attraction for LTRR
  10. You've never seen or experienced Driving School in operation. How can we make that assumption? It may be absolutely amazing for what it aims to be. Is it because it isn't targeted at adults?
  11. Jack, I'm questioning whether you should have sarcasm tags around some of your original post. Australia is not the USA. Ardent Leisure is not Six Flags. Enthusiasts in Australia are a lot more limited than those in the states. Capital expenditure is very different. You are being unrealistic, and I think you know that
  12. The ad is 3 years old. Do you want to provide some more examples to back up that comment lolman?
  13. Agree with what you've said Alex. Looking forward to the clown maze this year to see what they can imagine up without having to stay true to a backstory or plot
  14. Can we stop saying 'I hope they bring back Walking Dead' or 'not hillbilly slasher'. MW have said it is 4 new mazes. No they didn't say IP's, but they don't have to. New means new! As for Ninja only seeing 2 or 4 actors in an entire maze, are you sure you didn't hit your head when you did your ankle in the heavy fog (which is great-doesn't need toning down at all) because there was substantially more than that in both mazes
  15. Don't know about this year, but last year i know some were made in house
  16. Been the same each year with ticket timing. Gold pass redemption would give a good sample of which nights will sell quicker & if extra nights should be added
  17. Half the people in QLD may not know what it is, but people in the target demographic, let's say 16-40 years olds on the GC & Brisbane do if they don't live under rocks. It gets heavy TVC and radio support, social media campaigns and outdoor advertising. What more would you suggest?
  18. They've had walking dead the last 2 years, and have said that it is 4 new mazes this year. I don't think they'd make that comment if they were re-hashing the same maze again.
  19. Yeh I was thinking the same thing, had they just hosed it down? Or have they painted & lacquered it or something? It hasn't rained up here for about 10 days so don't think it's rain
