Dreamworld December Update 2019
Brad2912 replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yesterday, when they were running 2, was the first time in about 4 years I’ve been on it so have no idea -
I mean on the other side. I’ve often seen performers station themselves inline with the gaps while they do the fire twirling etc

Dreamworld December Update 2019

So waiting for MDMC this afternoon, it’s running 2 trains which was super efficient when we rode it in the AM, but now every second 2nd cycle is going out empty. When I ask why this is occurring I was told “it’s too quiet for 2 trains we only run 2 if the line is down the ramp, it doesn’t make it any slower doing it this way when it’s quiet”. hmmm... strange as I could have sworn all harnesses need to still be cross-checked, side gates opened, another cross check before dispatch. All of this taking at least 1-2 mins which could have been spend loading the next group on the train they just cleared for dispatch. so we now have 7 ride ops working and pushing out, at the most, 16 riders every 5-6mins... Even stranger, Mr Yong appears up the exit ramp and suddenly....2 train operation Immediately begins again before he’s even had a chance to speak to anyone... -
Whilst I can’t tell you the technical reason, it does allow for strategic placement of people in the photos to get them in without blocking the letters...

Had a ride this afternoon, effects all worked in the lower part and the timing was correct 😱 the new lighting is a very welcome addition! Also had my first ride on WWF in a couple of years... the less said about that theming the better. 2/10 would be generous... -

Yeah absolutely. I’d say 2/3, 4 and 6 will be ones I do regularly now -

So headed down this afternoon at 4 as I figured the morning would be busy. Smart play as we didn’t wait more than 5mins for anything. We did 5 or the 6 (slides 2 and 3 are identical speed slides so no point riding twice). For those curious on queuing... the slide level is set up with numbers on the floor (think Sky Voyager). left hand side of stairs is slides 1-3 right hand is 4-6. 3 people for each slide (so total 18) are up the top at once whilst the rest of the queue line is down the stairs. Everyone is weighed as they get to the top of the stairs (Max 120kg). A light system tells you when to go (as well as the operator). All 6 slides go at once, and then generally slides 2-3 will have another cycle on their own before all 6 go again - as being speed slides the cycle is obviously fast. On to the slides (in the order I did them). 6 - first half is enclosed with some decent lighting effects and then open. Good slide 5 - fully open slide and appeared to be a little slow until more than halfway thru. I was wearing a singlet though which was slowing me down so I ended up sitting up to limit the traction. Needless to say singlet off after this one. 4 - is pitch black for the large part with a few sections of lighting 2/3 - great little speed slides 1 - good slide but found it a real punish on my back on each segment joint. Ended up sitting up as it was literally bordering on painful. All in all though it’s another positive for WWW for me and another nail in WnW. It makes WWW a far more complete park. -

Well now I’m somewhat exciting after the “blackout” run on Wednesday night. -
Has an interesting ride on SDSC 2.0 on Wednesday night at fright nights. We arrived just prior to park closure (about 4:30) so headed straight in to have a ride on scooby as I knew the line would be ridiculous once White xmas began. We boarded pretty much bang on 5pm, the majority of the projection work in the lead up to the Elevator wasn’t working (not surprising based on previous rides), elevator screens worked, however once we exited the turntable room after the backwards drop - there was zero, and I mean Zero lighting. Now I’m used to the lasers being gone etc, but the track usually still has some illumination, but there nothing. It actually made it pretty fun as you couldn’t see anything that was coming at all, bit scary for my 7 year old. It was so dark you easily see the elevator bringing the next cars up as it was the only light in the room. Super strange, but enjoyable in weird way

Went on it Wednesday night and it’s looking the best it has since opening imo. Everything worked, including the fog curtain projection, and they have some new cityscape murals and lighting in the scene just before you enter the ship towards the end. It’s usually always busy when I attend on weekends, and it’s majority families so I’d say it’s still appealing and pulling it’s target demographic

Fully6 - WhiteWater World's new slide tower
Brad2912 replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
They are having competitions, giveaways and Joel Parkinson in attendance from 11am tomorrow. Funnily the post doesn’t reference Fully 6 at all, so not sure whether it’s officially open/opening tomorrow or not. -
Whilst it looks unique and would be drawcard attraction, I can’t see regulations here allowing 3 slides to be in the “wheel” at the same time. They won’t even let the next slide leave on a long course slide like mammoth falls until guest are out of the pool below

White Water World Slide Repaints 2019 - 2020
Brad2912 replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It’s finished, pretty easy to see in person that all segments are freshly painted Sure the colours are not overly complementary, but they’re bright and look good. I’ve got no issue with it -
The New Atlantis - Construction Updates

Found this one but again the angle may be somewhat deceiving. It’s more so at the entry & exit points of the plaza where the roof tapers down that the clearance is very minimal -
The New Atlantis - Construction Updates
Brad2912 replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Whilst I’ve never been up there with a tape measure, it appears from the ground that the clearance between the plaza roof and the top of the monorail wouldn’t exceed 20-30cm... -
So even when he says something correct, his actions are fair, his defence of the park justified - it’s ok to just label him a clown without any relevance to the quoted article or situation? It’s petty, it’s childish, it’s stupid (and yes I realise you weren’t the one who made the comment initially). If he says something stupid - call him a clown, but if he’s actually saying something of value and importance - calling him a clown is just poor form.
-
Why exactly? His comments on this issue are correct and he is standing up for his Park, what’s your issue?

I have to say about 18months ago I just shifted from WWW to WNW mainly because my son hit 6 yrs old and was too big for wiggle bay, and I thought wet n wild jnr would be a better fit. He’s since grown in his thrill level whilst there to do Mammoth, Rapids and Constrictor. 3 weeks we went back to WWW for the first time in well over a year and to be honest i think it’s now a clear winner. It’s better laid out, has a larger variety of rides that I think are stronger or unique offerings. Rapids is currently the most missed option, but will be adequately replaced by Fully6. The Green Room is superior to Tornado simply by not having to carry the bloody tubes, Hydro is unique, as is The Rip. Oh, and it’s a shit load quieter even in peak times. We were there today and the max wait was on hydrocoaster at about 15mins Only the late opening and dive in movies will take me back to WnW in the near future -
Have been intrigued, fascinated and impressed by The Imagineering Story on Disney+ Definitely a must watch for any with even a passing interest in Disney parks, or theme parks in general. Have learnt so much, and appreciate the intricacies and efforts all that more now.

So you want to hold them all off for mid-late 2021?? Yeah great idea... Well they’ve been saying “Summer” for a couple of months, so unless it’s not open by Feb 29th 2020 then no one has a reason to be angry...
-
Or they should just chuck a DW and not let you eat (or drink). When in the line for SV on Sunday, we had been in the queue for about 15mins when I let my son eat a couple of shapes biscuits from the box in my backpack, whilst I was grabbing a drink of water from my drink bottle when the “ride attendant” who will now be referred to as the “food nazi” came over and said “there is no eating or drinking in the queue lines as it causes a mess”. To me, if you are going to have people waiting for in some cases 60mins in a line, saying they can’t have a snack or a drink of water is just stupid. Sure, I’m not advocating letting people bring pizzas in or dripping ice creams through the place, but surely a little common sense prevails, and I’ve never ever seen a sign in any queuehouse saying “no food or drink allowed”.

Apparently what we want is backdrops for instagram photos, a shaded seating area (aka a carport) and nachos...
