  1. I feel like there isn’t all that much hypothetical to this topic actually when it comes to Green Lantern’s impact. Regardless of whether the incident led to tragedy or not I don’t think the outcome would have changed much in terms of government oversight. The government isn’t silly, it would have known how close things came. The big difference between this and TRR is this was an engineering and design/manufacture problem. Is wasn’t a systemic failure in process of management, compliance, regulatory oversight and safety analysis. The only real difference in outcome as I see it as the ride would likely have been removed. Yes there have been fatalities on rides overseas that have reopened, however the fact Green Lantern is not that special a ride, and a giant big reminder of tragedy at the front of your park is somewhat less than desirable I think tends to suggest it would have been removed. The big impact that TRR had on the public was not so much that someone died, it was that the park clearly cared more about the bottom dollar than they did on safety. So the public felt betrayed because it was almost as though DW caused the accident. As opposed to a freak unforeseeable tragedy.
  2. People rave about that roger rabbit ride but for me it never did anything more than say Mr Toads or similar.
  3. Man they are some ugly done truss towers! ...the base not the top
  4. I would be planting 3 lovely big trees (one family member’s family reportedly don’t want a memorial) down the back in Corroboree and having a plaque saying “these trees dedicated to xyz). That’s literally it. I would not mention the accident or the deaths of why. That way there is something for the families to visit if they so desire. I’d keep it as far away from the accident site as possible. Firstly for the same reason, the family probably do not want to go back to that spot. Secondly you don’t want a big “death happened here” reminded, regardless of if it’s a big or small plaque, etc. I think the memorial should be as subtle and discreet as possible. It’s about about acknowledging the people for the family of the family so wants so. Anything more prominent or public starts to enter the world of being for the park, and almost using the deaths as goodwill by implying “look how great we are, we care, here’s a plaque.” I think subtlety is key. I’d also say don’t put it in a prominent area that is likely to see development because if you have to move it, that will just cause more outrage.
  5. Its find to have a nice subtle plaque somewhere somewhat out of the way. A big ole Garden with a sign saying DEATH HAPPENED HERE - SOZ BUT HONESTLY IT WAS OTHER PEOPLE'S FAULT would definitely be a bit weird.
  6. Sorry apparently typos are illegal now... my bad. And maybe just hold back on your rant! I didn't question anybody... ...you know what I started to compose a reply and try and refute whatever you were accusing and then I realise doing so is actually quite sad and not a productive use of ones time 👍
  7. So you’re just going around randomly inspecting ambulance bathrooms?? ...that’s not weird at all
  8. Seems a very solid and reasonable plan hey have in place.
  9. It’s pretty standard for boats on flume rides to be able to bump each other when stacking up. They’re kind of designed around this on everything from original arrow log flumes through to splash mountain. As for park capacity. They haven’t been reaching their 50% cap but I feel a lot of that has to do with public concern on going out. After all the Gold Coast is pretty much at 100% occupancy so the people are here. Raising the cap will hopefully flow on to greater public confidence.
  10. Come on though, some person on a theme park forum has a gut feeling. That enough to stake your investment options on right!
  11. Its almost like if old Bodgy Macgee Mr "I shouldn't be expected to know how all rides worked" didn't keep whacking on his home made modifications to the rides and did things properly you'd have a bunch of good rides still there. And if past cheap skate management had taken up the option to upgrade ToT when they were given it, that too would still be running.
  12. Yeah I would say the inside show scenes of the ride probably are well past their use by date and we’d need to see some kind to ‘WWF Next Gen’ level makeover before we see some big changes there. Let’s just hope such a thing does happen, but it’s not botched up like the last attempt.
  13. I think it’s a big stretch to say this means the theme park licensing will end. Film distribution has alternatives and they are streamlining their model. Where as the theme parks licensing is a completely separate beast onto itself.
  14. All effects are working outdoors. the geysers, wobbly rocks, ghost down saloon, water trough, water tank etc. Looking better than it has in years.
  15. Could probably just stop at Community Page and know we are all doomed. Cesspool of the internet right there.
  16. Sigh this is all very boring. Surely we all have better things to be doing with our time than these back and forths.
  17. Yeah sadly the problem isn’t the lack of lasers, it’s the lack of smoke to see them... but in a post TRR worth that is what it is unfortunately.
  18. For me the problem is not comparing numbers of attractions, it’s about amount of park. Note I’m not commenting on if either park is or was shit at opening, as illustrated above that argument is just not pleasant and worth digging up. But the very real problem Dreamworld has (and the reason I’m bringing it up is this is the first time we’ve got a real look at ‘the new look Dreamworld’) on its jands is the new footprint is going to be disappointing to any guest that knows the old full size park. This will naturally make them question why, and look to troubles the park is having/has had. How they overcome that without the funds to do major development quickly will be an interesting one to watch and for sure a challenge. So again I don’t want to pass comment on my thoughts of their opening lineup, and I’m not interested in hearing anyone else’s. But the issues I’ve just highlighted above are definitely not open for debate. Let’s hope they can find some creative and effective ways to eliminate them as soon as possible.
  19. The dead ends at both suck. And Doomsday also being closed doesn’t help things either, same with ex intensity. But when Wild West reopens next week there will be big ole life back down that end of the park. WB Kids is alive on that side, and rivals covers the other. The big issue I think Dreamworld have on their hands is two or 3 of their dead spots won’t be active again for quite some time. And the fact people know it’s there makes it a bit depressing. Kind of like when Wonderland closed Little Wonders Land. Removing it from the map didn’t stop being being depressed it was sat closed.
