So if you can just point out for me in which part of the above Richard afirms your point that they should just knock it together themselves that would be great. -
The New Atlantis - Construction Updates

I did have the very last ride on Bush Beast. I have fond memories of the ride from my childhood. But I’m objective enough to recognize that it was a very crap coaster. Design, maintenance, construction, whatever, it was not good. When it opened it had bad pacing, shuffled through the big turns and was overall quite ‘meh’, but it’s all we had. By the time it closed it was bone shatteringly painful. I couldn’t even ride it in the back. We can have fond memories of the place. But let’s not think for a second that we don’t let that fondness cloud our objective judgement. Bush Beast was a very ordinary coaster. -

Bush Beast. I think we can all agree it was a fair piece of crap. the Beastie was a great little coaster though. There’s a heap of amazing examples of the craft of maintaining great wooden coasters. Grand National is an awesome one. But Bush Beast certainly was not. -
Has luna park sydney pulled the plug on 2 classic rides
rappa replied to Coasterlife's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Come on. Any notion that the park is plonking in traveling carni rides to ‘be true to the parks history’ is about as kool aid filled as is humanly possible. It’s because they are a cheap easy way to get the ride count up. A cheap carnival has no place on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour. ‘Back in the day’ it was also a dirty nasty place filled with undesirables, and we’re in no hurry to recreate that authentic atmosphere. However a beautifully presented nostalgic rose coloured glasses nod to seaside piers of yesteryear is a charming addition to the area. That’s what they should continue to be doing. They shouldn’t be compared to, or try to compete with the Gold Coast parks because they will always fail, and Luna Park should be something totally different to that. Look to places like Tivoli Gardens for inspiration -

I know you have (a very strange) bee in your bonnet @AheadMatthewawsomebut Luna Park is not great. In my opinion it has 5 good attractions done well. Coney Island Ferris Wheel Wild Mouse Rotor and now Volare The crystal palace is also a great feature. The rest including all the ones you mention are awful. Even the Tango train belonged in a carnival somewhere. The drop tower also looks cheap and nasty. Im not saying it’s easy, but if it was easy everyone would have a park. But I’m saying this using of carnival rides is not up to snuff and they should be doing better. And as anyone on here will attest to, my view is that ‘trying isn’t good enough.’ -

There is a huge gap between major coaster and piece of garbage traveling carnival ride. They could easily (and should) be adding permanent park models of updated but with nod of nostalgia flat rides. Ive no doubt in my mind if they had muted classic paint schemes, classy lighting packages and no dodgy distorted trance music blasting out of them everyone would have a lot less complaints. They should be looking at more Silly Symphony Swings and less Side Show Alley. How the park took so long to have a beautifully presented wave swinger is beyond me. -

This construction approach also resulted in one of the worst wooden coasters in history so probably not keen to copy it. -
So there is a lot of talk of Golden Years for all our parks. Sea World, Dreamworld and Movie World... I think an interesting measure would actually be for all of us to state our age at the time along with what we think of a parks golden years. By and large I think we all remember a lot of things much better than they really were. I for instance remember Harry Potter as being really good at MW but plenty of people tell me it was totally shit. would just be an interesting statistic to look at.

I think it's pretty say that we'll get what we expected from the coaster at Dreamworld. Sure maybe a couple things are in a nolimits render that won't be exactly right in the finished product. But I'd say that my expectations of what DW put out there are of a nicely presented thrill coaster. And I expect them to deliver exactly that. Which I'll be happy with. Sea World however really has given this expectation: So I really hope I don't get this: -
Sky Voyager wins Master Builders Qld Award
rappa replied to Insight's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well that's it, its won an architectural award voted on my architects... Doesn't speak anything to it's suitability or aesthetic for a theme park, which is why Disney employs Art Directors and not Architects to design things. Similarly just ask a builder how they feel about architects and you'll see that the nice lines on paper don't equate to much in terms of if it's suitable to build, fit for purpose, etc etc. Doubt its winning and engineering or project management awards, but I guess as a stand alone building outside of it's theme park context its somewhat interesting. I still don't like those weirdly shaped glass stairwells but I'm also not a qualified architect so my opinion probably doesn't mean much. ...say architect again -

But is it that? Or is it the owners are always looking for the cheapest possible option for adding rides? The red tape thing should be done and dusted now that the government has pretty much told the residents to F off. -
White Water World Slide Repaints 2019 - 2020
rappa replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It certainly is the better looking waterpark on the coast! It’s nice to see money has been spent on the upkeep of the vibrant colours which can so easily go to hell if left to fade. Hopefully the poor cousin down the road can be inspired by the younger hotter model. -
The billboard looks good. I realise they don’t really generate much revenue but they make a big impact on the highway. I always thought it was silly that VRTP got ride of theirs all those years ago.

There’s also a very real fact that Germany may not let the techs leave the country. They have a border closure in place.
-
Specialist manufacturing of emerging technology with no Australian worker available would definitely fall into the realm of commissioning a major ride. But it's still going to be hell expensive to get them here.
-
To be fair anything would have to be better than Carnivale at Sea World. That was the biggest massacre of what was a great event at Movie World ever. Hopefully this is the ground up tailor made event Sea World needs.

To be fair Irvine Ondrey Engineering has a post recently describing how they did almost a completely commissioning remotely for a recent project and only spent a day or so onsite as a result. So is possible. It’s really only verifying wiring and code anyway.

IF they stay open generating those jobs and flow on. My point is they’ve demonstrated they couldn’t keep the place profitable before this so is flushing 70million more of public money at them really going to change that. FWIW I think the place is of extreme value to the state and want to see it open and thriving. I just don’t see the present owners capable of that in any way.
-
Seems to be about accurate for the way they treat ardent. My vendetta is the owners of that Company which was a childhood treasure to all is a bloody joke of idiots who couldn’t organize a chook raffle let alone run a theme park. Why people are so protective of a group of people who are destroying their insane nostalgia I simply can’t fathom.

Parkz has a no Doxing rule so please stop trying to be cute or whatever with who knows what is the end game of people doing as such.

ummm BGH Capital is an Australian and New Zealand-focused private equity firm established in 2017 by Robin Bishop, Ben Gray and Simon Harle. Yeah see Village are going to use the money to continue their planned capital investment which brings construction and development jobs to Queensland, they also have the doors open which creates more jobs. Ardent plan to use the money to open the gate and cover the losses they have had from their past poor decisions. So none of that money benefits anything. Any jobs they make by being open is offset by all the people they have sacked.

How about a clause “are you currently subject to a court imposed judgement against you?” like is it not ridiculous the government is giving them money to pay a fine that’s meant to be punishment? also given their release states they couldn’t afford to open without the funding can we drop the crap that they weren’t opening for safety reasons now?
