  1. I'm not going to feel bad for saying he should be responsible for the costs involved in his stupidity. I'm tired of the political correctness movement, You can't in one breath say that we should treat disabled (or whatever word we are allowed to use this month) the same as anyone else, and then in the next say they shouldn't be responsible for any of their actions because they are disabled... If DW had said he couldn't ride because of his disability there would have been an uproar about that too, just like that stupid video the other month...
  2. There's this forever memorable signature sound of this screeching sound it made as it took the turn after the loops followed by the rattle of the catwalks.
  3. It probably does accelerate harder because it requires less torque to get a lighter train moving. I believe (I don't know) that it calculates its launch force prior to launch and then you get what you get. Hence why you sometimes get a rollback.
  4. At this stage I don't. But I'm not a ride engineer. If you'd said 20 years ago onboard audio would be commonplace it would have sounded crazy. But now it is. Give this tech time and it will get a lot more refined.
  5. When I say mature I mean not a phone cobbled into a headset cabled tied together and retrofitted onto a coaster... I mean a fully fleshed out, reliable and robust tech integrated to the train.
  6. I do wonder though if a motion base used the VR headsets rather than a big screen and 3D glasses how that would compare. I think until it's mature tech that is reliable and quick to load guests with it needs to stay out of parks. I honestly give these things MONTHS in a six flags park before they are broken and mothballed.
  7. Sorry I wasn't clear. When I said Wipeout was different because the other model lacks the motors to do the flipping I didn't mean there are motors that flip the gondola. What I meant is the motors are of a different spec and the standard model lacks the 'grunt' to 'fling' the gondola around and then arrest that movement. Basically by design the ride is an engineers nightmare and the whole thing is just setup to put amazing levels of stress on every component. It's a pretty damn impressive piece of engineering that it doesn't just tear itself apart.
  8. I think enhancing a lackluster rise might be alright. But I mean a motion base and some fans could achieve pretty much the same result. I like the optional enhancement but for me personally I want to ride restored revolution in all its historical glory, not strap a phone to my head. I don't like the idea of it being compulsory.
  9. Well I actually visited the park rather than keyboard experted it. And wrode the ride. It wasn't the same. It didn't flip and never did. It lacked the motors to actually do the flipping! There's two models The Waikiki Wave and The Waikiki Wave Super Flip
  10. It's rare that any of us do jump in, most of the time people deserve some of the flack they cop, and also a lot of it is childish. But I draw the line at someone actively contributing to a topic and someone else attacking them because they weren't 100% perfect in their facts.
  11. Wow how great does the park look brand new!! anyone have the full episode?
  12. The one at flamingO land certainly wasn't a Super Flip. The gondola did not flip independently.
  13. Wow didn't that drag on! Nice to see the park back in the VERY early days but I think they could have made that video 15mins long
  14. Yeah could we just tone it down a bit with the "get your facts straight business". Its not like Red Dragin was making sweeping lies or had any ill intent. I'll kindly as you to watch how you speak to your fellow members in future WorldFun.
  15. The idea whilst maybe seems simplistic, is and was a complete and utter screw up failure. The people themselves responsible have told me they would NEVER use this system again, so we definitely don't want to copy them I think an EPCOT style, bring the barges on and suppliment with crap installed on the island is the way to go. As for the rest of it... Awesome, nothing more needs to be said or added
  16. With two major parks in the US in essence only just adding copies of Giant Drop as major attractions I don't think we'll see it close any time soon.
  17. This has been discussed AT LENGTH and it's widely assumed the later maintenance is for painting.
  18. Not everything needs to be a big thriller. Hot day in summer the log ride will be busy. My he view of its old and not a thrill ride so should go is a stupid one IMO
  19. Don't forget there was no M1, so the thunderbolts loops were literally right on the side of the highway. As for Harry Potter... The small version in Hollywood cost HALF A BILLION dollars. Good luck Gold Coast For whoever was asking Bikash is the GM of both SW Park and the resort and has brought some pretty huge improvements to the resort in recent times. Can't see why this won't be a great addition to the park.
  20. TTPSN should just be called "The I'm a special kinda special and I have a facebook page page"
  21. Lol normally I wouldn't comment but that 7 story is hilarious!! Firstly in the opening shot the ride can be seen cycling in the background Then they say it's due to low air compression (wow good use of terminology there). Then you have the comment about 'industry insiders'. Notice they didn't say experts! So that's probably some 15 year old kid with a website. A park doesn't even give an opening time for an attraction on the same day, so why would they say when it will re-open. If it's an air leak, it probably needs a part which they obviously need to arrive and then install. Sooooo minor, remember air is used to OPEN not close breaks. Such a funny story of drivel to watch
  22. I don't believe that is actually accurate or even possible for that matter. The train uses the old chassis and wheels from the original train so there was zero improvement in smoothness from those components with the re theme. The only change is a 'perceived' improvement because of the new seat/restraint design. As a seat can't 'get rough' there is no way the train is getting rougher.
  23. Really feel the need to point out that MOST rides 'break down' every single day. They are not broken 99.9% of the time. They are simply designed to stop if there is anything out of the ordinary. In reality they could usually be instantly started again, however most all parks procedures involve calling the maintenance team out to look over the ride before giving an all clear. Then also often the procedures will call for all of the daily checks to be repeated as though it was opening for the first time. This is why a 1 minute problem results in an hour long ride closure. Most all of the time not note worthy at all.
