Yes tonight's event was indeed a sell out which was great for two reasons. 1)The event is selling really well and is really popular which only spells good things for the future. 2)Attendance was capped at a good number so as to not have the park too crowded whilst maintaining a great atmosphere. Anyone ride Scooby today by any chance? Wow, so awesome.

Can't answer your numbers for august, maybe check out micechat forums... In October Id say yes with one extra day to catch up what you missed... Disney fastpasses are free but yes use them. Splash, Space Mountain, Rockn, and certainly Test Track you will want them for.

August is right in their summer so it will be busy, keep that in mind. I certainly wouldn't miss the Disney studios park. Has some great stuff like Tower, Rock n Roller Coaster and Lights Motors Action. IMO you can do animal kingdom and studios in 1 day if you're pushed for time. As for resorts the top resorts are huge $$s, I would go moderate as they are great and sVe your $$s for some nice meals. The restaurant at the top of the contemporary is great especially if you can get a time and table to watch the fireworks.

Where are you going? I recommend October, good for weather and you can visit Universal Horror Nights which is in my opinion the 2nd best theme park experience in the world second to disneyland. If you were to miss anything it would be Busch and Seaworld. Universal is pretty good but IOA is the winner here. I also consider Wet n Wild a MUST if you like waterparks. It's unique themed attractions are great. Then, once you've done all that, (we stayed just opposite wnw) get yourself down to disneyworld, certainly after, not before. Here I recommend spare no expense, stay at a moderate resort (I recommend Coronado springs) and prepare yourself for the most impressive display of private infrustructure you can imagine. I didn't find anything at WDW better than Disneyland but the unique stuff is great. EPCOT and Animal Kingdom are cool. The food and wine festival at Epcot is unreal, and do the segway tour there. But it's all about being impressed by the scale at WDW. Many gems there, so give some more specific questions and Ill be happy to answer.

Roxy "Adventures in the Fourth Dimension"
rappa replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Kind of not correct. The reason for the silver screen is indeed for 3D, the silver preserves the polarisation of the light which is essential for 3D to work at all. Way back in the day movie theatres did have silver screens but they are not the best choice for today. Silver screens can give you a hot spot (bright patch) in the centre and reflect much less light than a white 'high gain' screen, so you need a brighter projector. Most new cimena complexes now (like eVent) are fitting all cinemas with silver screens so every theatre is 3D capable. If you're seeing a movie in 3D, then it's definately a silver screen. -
You're right, I hope someone from mobiles sees your post and gets people selling in the lines. That's a GREAT idea! I can't say as to why there was none for your ride, but can tell you no smoke is scooby is not because it's smoke machines have been removed for Halloween. Smoke like anything else is technical so sadly there may have been a fault last night. Did you notice the new green laser heads added to the ride though. That have been absent for years and look great!

Oh ffs, no one can make up there mind. Phones cause cancer, then they don't, then they do. This post is right, apparently everything causes cancer. In my opinion the shit that goes into our food these days is doing far more harm than a phone tower. There are plenty of reasons to criticise dreamworld... This is not one of them.

I haven't been in years but it was always a fun day. Go in evaluating it or what it is. It's not a theme park, it's more an adventure park. It's worth it for the Alpine slide alone, beats any other I've ridden. Plus the drive is nice through some pleasant country.

I've just been thinking how great a festival concept like this could work at Movie World... Here's hoping
-
I'll only shed light on it if it's not a red or Congo blue one... No more red lights!!!
-
Yes I'll give a blow by blow of Freddy after the event, it is very well thought out and great use of the space.

Jakeman you really have no idea what you're talking about. To do something manually would look aweful. As would some kind of green and orange chase effect. Not discussing this any further. This thread is for the discussion of HFN not the ins and outs of lighting programming.
-
How would they then have WB Kids open during the day then?
-
That's just as involved as putting lights up. You can't just make that sort of lighting equipment do that at will. It has to be programmed into a console, just as sound effects would have to be loaded into the audio playback equipment. You can't do this with guests in the park as you must stop what's currently running. Great suggestion for an effect, just not possible to add in just because it's raining. I was actually talking about a micechat thread, but thanks for the weatcoaster one. I feel that's a very accurate and fair revue (except maybe that photo claiming to be as detailed as it got), more so than the ones posted on here.

I actually saw people cowering on the floor AND running screaming from the mazes. You have to take this for what it is Ryan, a first attempt. Universal have had nearly 20 years to get to the point they are now, I think people going in with a negative attitude hoping to be surprised, which you seem to be are only going to bring down the event. I'd like to take your comments at face value but given the overly critical (and in many cases way unjustified) comments made about the parks on another site, I don't think I can take your opinions as impartial. I am the biggest critic of things like this, and having nothing to do with any mazes or scares, etc, I can say with a very unbiased view that this event is WELL worth the money. As for dead areas, it was raining constant, I was amazed how many people were still in the park after rides closing, rather than concerned with dead areas. Do people really expect the park to go and rig up equipment, in the rain, at the last minute to try and add effects to the rain? I think that's getting a bit silly.

Actually 7/10 is a pretty high score??? You can only have so much fog, eventually it is so much that it causes havoc with the M1 so it has to be capped off. I thought there was plenty of fog. I agree about main street, most all lights were off but the Roxy throws so much light, perhaps it could be turned off. Rides and mazes do close at their posted times, but that is the RIDE, not the Que, so if the Park closes at 11 and the maze has a 45min que, the que will be closed at 10:15. The only music not hallowen themed in the park was outside Scooby Castle, which is already Spooky so I think that's kind of ok. As for the post 2 above, the mazes had at most a 1.5 que (and that was only 1) after the outdoor rides closed, nothing like 3 hours. If you go to Universal there are 1-2 hour waits for all mazes and there are many more of them than Movie World, you would be lucky to see half. For $20 I think it is definately worth it. If you only went through 1 maze in the night you either weren't there very long or did something very wrong. I went through 2 mazes in the space of around 2 hours and that was late in the night. Face coverings of any kind not being allowed is standard at this type of event and was well advertised so you can't really complain there. In my opinion the night was fantastic, even with the rain and had a great turn out. I don't understand posts saying how good things were but then saying it was not worth it, or gave it a low score. This is a very different event from previous years, and fast on its was to being on par with some of the best in the world. These nights are not about rides and attractions, they are about atmosphere, if you're heading out with a goal of just doing as many attractions as possible then you're going to be dissapointed. If you're going along for great atmosphere through the entire park then you will be impressed I have no doubt.
-
Not the same mazes, but clearly similar conceptually. Definately same theming standard though.
-
I've had the opportunity to see the mazes (sans lighting and actors) and I have to say I am extremely impressed. What Movie World are offering up is easily on par with the mazes at Univesal's Halloween events, and those are world leading. I will be attending at least one night as a guest, and I would pay twice the price they are charging knowing what's on offer. I think everyone will be very impressed, a HUGE leap up from last years event, and I suggest you all go and get tickets.

Hard coat for the win

I think the entrance looks pretty damn cool and am sure it will look even better lit up at night

For the exact reason you pointed out. If they weigh everyone then there is no discrimination. If they only weight people that 'look to be overweight' then they would be offending people very easily and opening themselves up to serious discrimination cases. As for your back, I don't believe for a second that you got the 'big gash with blood pouring out' kind of injury you are attempting to imply here.

Not actually a mirror as such, just a really big piece of glass. For one the size of the UFO in Bermuda you're talking tens of thousands of dollars just FYI.

Sea World 2010 (Castaway Bay & Antarctic Penguins)
rappa replied to themeparkgc's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've seen and heard a lot of advertising for Castaway Bay, especially on Radio. There is a big radio push from the parks at the moment it would seem... -
You won't get much. Lots is happening backstage but nothing on show yet. Keep an eye out closer to the actual event, but I'd imagine much will be kept under wraps and you'll have to buy a ticket and attend to see what is planned. I'm pretty sure you'll be impressed.
