  1. Is it higher than Tower of Terror? Is it Faster? Is it steeper than Superman?? I think it's safe to say it's friken high, it's damn fast and it's bloody steep. And that's good enough for me!!
  2. 6 weeks wouldn't be a crazy amount of time if say they need to do train rebuild
  3. There is more to the definition of Hypercoaster than 200 feet tall. Shuttle coasters are not considered Hypercoasters, and generally also need to focus on speed and airtime to fit that definition, although recently some with inversions have been given the classification. They also generally don't have 'another gimmick'. For example nobody calls X2 a Hypercoaster (it has 215' drop), and even if the height was also over 200' I still don't think anyone would.
  4. Rivals is nothing like the height and speed of ToT let's get real.
  5. I'd say definitely bet on orientation, training, rehearsals, media prior to launch.
  6. Oh mate you are clutching at some desperate straws there!
  7. I agree with what AlexB is saying it indeed IS different for every person, as it should be. I guess the point is, as it is different for everyone, should the park choose to not advertise a memorial flower drop, we shouldn't be chastising them for it.
  8. If you say so. Will have to take your word for it. Sure I've thought "shit well I dodged a bullet there" but that never manifested into an outpouring of emotion and sadness leading to personal grief. Im sorry for saying this but in probably more sad that my childhood memory is gone forever (the ride) than anything else.
  9. With any luck not one of three will kill anyone 👍
  10. I'm not sure why anyone things the construction is planned AROUND marketing, that's really not how it works. The joker face is a theming element. It has zero to do with Mack's construction and would not even be part of that timeline. It will be ready when whoever is building it finishes and then they'll put it up. Kind of as simple as that.
  11. I actually really enjoyed HKDL and this was before the major E-Tickets it's received since opening. I think many people miss the concept of just enjoying park atmosphere (mostly because our parks have little to none) without being entertained by an attraction 99% of the time.
  12. Yeah I'm sorry but WHAT THE FUCK Why are workers, contractor or othereisr within reach of their ewp contacting power lines? Who is approving that SWMS and why are they in a job?
  13. What I don't understand is (and this is just me) I don't know any of the people that died in the accident, it didn't personally affect it in any way. Thats not to say it's not sad. But I don't feel the need or desire to pay my respects to victims I don't know.
  14. I think it would be the worst possible idea ever for the park to organise a flower drop or anything with significant visual impact like that, It's just a punch in the face reminder to everyone who is already tentative about the place they HEY WE KILLED PEOPLE. The best thing they could do is unveil a small memorial plaque or something somewhere discreet on the day, acknowledge this in the media (who will want the story that day) and back it up with the safety message. Then they should drop it for good and move on with happy times and stop this need to try and prove "trust us we're safe" every 5 mins like they are doing now.
  15. Oh dear I had to laugh so hard that anyone though this was a legit new ad!
  16. Least neither are as big a failure as Wonderland right @AlexB?
  17. The photo of the detached seat certainly would support that finding. The steel did not exactly look healthy.
  18. Why do you can all go back to using it wrong? Just like here?? Nah, we're good
  19. It'll change. Caesars Entertainment is kicking around now, they'll offer enough cash and the government will flip again. Eventually the people complaining die and things change.
  20. THIS! ^^^ This is exactly what I was asking, this company's procedures seem quite good then and what I would want/expect. Now here's another question... is this mandated practice or is this just what your company chooses to do? And others (in Australia) don't all do that? As for the United States, it seems things are very unregulated and this is probably not all being followed. Thank for a thorough answer.
  21. No what I'm saying is as an enthusiast (I was this before an employee, and to be fair I don't work in ride maintenance so I really would still think of myself as an enthusiast in that regard) I know the procedures and processes and parks have in place. It's pretty well out there as I say in the enthusiast community. I would think that equal fans of the carnival industry would also have the same knowledge so could at least comment. At this point (this is as you say speculation) I would happily take the word of someone that says they do this or don't do that, I'm not seeking documented proof. I'll give you the point that yes there may be the possibility that: the ride operator did engage the services of a reputable NDT inspection provider, have said inspections regularly carried out, was provided with the certifications of such. But in fact this reputable company was falsifying or was negligent in their inspections, OR that the ride passed all inspections which WERE don't correctly and this failure managed to manifest from non existent to catastrophic in the space of a maximum of 12 months (of course assuming the inspection was carried out at most 364 days prior to this tragic day). IF all of these things occurred then yes I will happily stand here and say, freak accident, they are in no way negligent. Not trying to be a smart ass here at all, I do enjoy the discussion, but I think you'd have to concede that what I've written above is very highly unlikely.
  22. Ok I'm using every formatting tool that's provided to enhance my text. My opinion through this ENTIRE THREAD has been, IF they are carrying out these practices then I am happy with that, IF NOT then I have major issue. So far there is nothing to say that they ARE following these practices, EXCEPT the operator of this KMG ride who clearly wasn't doing inspections on that point of failure. So I'm not saying because I can't see it then it doesn't exist, I'm saying my view is based on whether it does or doesn't exist. As a Theme Park Fan I know can say it does happen. So far a Carnival Fan has not been able to do the same...
  23. That paperwork was proof of a general mostly visual inspection at best. There is no manufacturer paperwork detailing major preventative maintenance regimes. There is ZERO change a show appointed on site engineer is carrying out major ride rebuilds. I'd be interested to see this WorkSafe paperwork. I work in the industry so am intimately aware of what the parks do, plug is pretty well publicised and common knowledge amongst the enthusiast community.
  24. As I keep saying, I'm asking the question of what maintenance they do have. So far no one can answer that question.
