An annoyance, locals can use the app to book fastpass slots, but that app isnt available outside japan so you have to walk to the machines, which is a bit unfair IMO

I believe the app is now available outside of Japan, so everyone can use the app to redeem fast passes now (well, everyone that can get to Tokyo Disney :P).

  2. The Facebook page states:

The Mine Ride closed 11 years ago and at the time didn’t meet modern fire safety compliance standards...

My interpretation of this statement would be that the ride does not meet modern fire safety requirements (e.g. the required number of emergency exits etc), not that the mountain is not fire safe. I'm sure that if the mountain was not fire safe, it would have come down as soon as Dreamworld became aware of this.

IF this image is to be taken as anything other than a placeholder, it rules out the soundstage for a maze. That's a big IF though. But all other locations are covered by this map.

Seeing as this map is missing Rivals, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that it is just a place holder.

It seems weird to me that they'd be focusing on rejuvenating Paradise Pier/Pixar Pier already, considering it got so much attention during the original DCA makeover. I would've much rather seen them focus on Hollywoodland or a Bug's Land.

According to the rumour mill, the new Spiderman/Avengers area is going to take over Hollywoodland and potentially Bugs Land too.

You don't actually even need projection mapping. You can achieve this very cleverly just with some smart led strips suitably themed.

Like they put in for the finale on Bermuda instead of the fire...

  6. @MickeyD I have no idea on the costs of Co2 based smoke effects - obviously costs will be a factor, but I don't think smoke effects can simply be ruled out - going on previous history (I'm looking at you Superman), maybe MW will install smoke effects again, then turn them off when they get too expensive to run/maintain .

I think the projection mapping effects you describe sound like the ending that this ride deserves - add a blast of smoke as you come out the doors and that would just be the cherry on the cake!

@Reanimated35 My bad, I saw my tag in the quote and my brain interpreted that as your comment being directed at me <_<.

  7. @Theme Park Girl Wasn't the rumoured cause of the fire one of the spark machines (not smoke machines) they had running up the lift hill?

There is no naked flame or spark generated by smoke machines (unless something goes really wrong, I had a cheap Chinese machine catch fire on me once), and there are alternative methods of generating 'smoke' - for example, the new effect used on Big Thunder Mountain at Disney parks is Co2 based, there is absolutely no heat involved using this style of smoke effect.

In my opinion, you can't just completely rule out a smoke effect because there was a fire on the ride a long time ago...

@Reanimated35 I've been around here a long time, so I'm very aware of what happened to the ride in the past. I wasn't questioning what happened, I was questioning why a smoke effect could just be ruled out.
