  1. I had called the park and asked when the Tasmanian Devil would be back and was advised that it was sometime in Nov... The operator than advised me that she would put me through to someone who could answer that question and transferred me to the Maintenance Dept. The call was answered as "Maintenance Dept"; I asked the gentleman the same question and got that answer. I do not know people within this dept. but I do know people in other divisions within the park. coasterfreak
  2. I have been in touch with the Maintenance Dept. and have been advised that Tasmanian Devil should be back in operation as of the 10th-13th of November 2003. I have been advised that this could possibly stretch out to mid to late November 2003 if there are any other issues.
  3. A lot of people are saying the addition of the Luna Circus will be great for the park. Honestly I think that it is a bad substitution for The Big Dipper. I agree with most people that they had missed a great ride in Rail Chase from Sega World in which it could be housed in a building which could be sound proofed, thus muting the screams of people having a good time to satisfy the wankers that live above the park. I think that the Circus will not attract the general ride going public. I predict that the park will be full of suited wankers sipping coffee in their cafes which is what they are essentially making the park into. coasterfreak
  4. I am not sure... I was wondering the same thing...?
  5. Does anyone here recall Midway Amusements in Brisbane? While taking a look through RCDB I have found a ride called Tree Top Racers which apparently operated at the above mentioned park or centre. http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail573.htm Its a shame that another Oz park has not taken this ride! 6. Hey Everyone, Does anyone know anything about the rides that debuted at Australia's Wonderland in 1985? I believe that some of the rides actually came from other then Taft Parks (now Paramount Parks). Firstly I believe that the "Captain Caveman's Clippers AKA. Ships Ahoy AKA. Galleon's Graveyard" came from Carowinds, now Paramount Carowinds. They had a ride called "Flying Dutchman" which opened with the park in 1973. It however closed and left the park in 1984; remember Australia's Wonderland opened in 1985. Attached is an original picture of the ride at Carowinds and a link to a pic of the ride in this forum. http://www.totalthrills.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=241 I am also 90% certain that Zodiac came from Kings Island (Paramount Kings Island). 50% of people who have studied the history of this park say that it closed in that park in 1984 and stood still for a few years after it closed. Then again, the other 50% say that it closed without any notice in 1984 and was then dismantled immediately. Zodiac was at Wonderland for the opening day so I believe that the Paramount version and Wonderland version are the same. Zodiac was originally located on a long path that led to the original Hanna Barbera Land in a space which is now part of the Australian Wildlife Park. The HMS Endeavour was originally located next to it. The path that it was on also led to the original Hanna Barbera All Stars Paddle Boat Ride which I believe is now a pond in the Wildlife Park. Does anyone have any other details regarding rides or attractions that opened and closed or are still at Wonderland? I am aware of Demon's history btw. If you can provide any details re original locations for rides, original owners, dates that rides or attractions were removed it would be much appreciated. Also, does anyone know when that large decorative Ship was removed from the main lake (near Bounty's Revenge)? coasterfreak
  7. I know you wanted pics of Rainbow's from within Australia but this one is from a park called Dixie Landin' in the US looks pretty cool. www.dixielandin.com coasterfreak
  8. Well if I was owner of an amusement park and if a coaster from another park became available I would purchase it if it was available for a reasonable price. Another factor is the cost for the relocation, implementation and upgrade of the ride. I would be more than happy to introduce it to a new generation... The way that I see it is that if a park wants to loose a coaster that could possibly be repaired or restored to its former glory they really have no respect for the general park visiting public. As you can see from these forums a lot of people get attached to their parks and the rides that are within them. Wonderland which is my home park does not really care what's going on at the moment. If people want to visit a theme park these days they are actually traveling to Qld to visit Dreamworld, Movie World... etc. If Wonderland was to add another ride, possibly do some advertising about it they might just bring a few more people in to the park. Personally I have seen a park go from highs to new lows where they have painted the buildings in a terror themed section of the park (Transylvania) bright colours which can only be described as totally gay. If Wonderland had bought Thunderbolt they could have had a great ride... Ah well... Someday they might ad something new (whether it be new or used)... coasterfreak
  9. That rumor that is going around about a new coaster coming to Wonderland and they have stated that they are not sure if it is coming yet... What if it was Thunderbolt now that it has been sold. I doubt it is but... Whoever has bought it better fix it first. coasterfreak
  10. Well... Its not on their website anymore... coasterfreak
  11. I believe that if you go to a park expecting the worst then that’s what you will experience. I have been to all major parks in Oz (Wonderland, Dreamworld, Sea World and Movie World) and I have always found the park staff to be pleasant. Treat others as you would like to be treated... The only time I was disturbed by one staff member’s antics was during a trip to Movie World a few days after Wild Wild West/ Wild West Falls opened. A girl had slipped getting into the car (she did not hurt herself) that I was getting into and a staff member laughed out loud. I understand that this is one staff member at one park but that does not make them all bad. coasterfreak
  12. The pics were taken well before this section of the park opened to the public.
  13. Shots of the scenery before the opening!
  14. Does anyone know the real reason why Wizard's Fury was removed. I have overheard people say the someone was hurt or that the upkeep of the ride was to much. Or was it something like they needed the space for Galleons Graveyard. Does anyone really know? coasterfreak
  15. Below is a plan for Rail Chase and its official description from Sega World Plans. Rail Chase Opened: 1997 Manufacturer: Mistago, Japan Ride Capacity: 12 The recently upgraded Rail Chase plummets riders to a mythical archaeological dig where they have to save the historical site from destruction by fire with an infra-red water cannon. Reaching a maximum speed of 10km/hour over a 210 metre track, the ride’s special effects are handled by Dataton software that responds to sensors on the track which are activated when a car passes over them. This sets up a time line for a series of special effects such as a suspended bridge with skeletal remains upon it followed by a holographic style face suspended above the track (achieved by rear projecting the image into a cast of an actors face), giant spiders and bugs, and through an icy and then burning caves. coasterfreak
  16. Pics page 2 Some of these pics are from when Sega World closed. coasterfreak
  17. Attached are a few pics from SEGA World Darling Harbour. There are more to come. coasterfreak
  18. It was a ride themed to Space Ships and was similar to Little Monsters Flying School originally Dick Dastardly... where they would just go up and down. It was near the Old Gum Tree Theatre and the original Rockula's Cafe. You could not miss it, it was bright orange. coasterfreak N
  19. They had: Beastie Scooby's Silly Stix Captain Caveman's Clippers -> Galleon's Graveyard Judy's Jetliners Flintstone's Splashdown Dick Dastardly's Red Baron Race -> Little Monsters Flying School Skylink Zodiac Top Cat's Putt Putt All Stars Merry Go Round Dino Bumpers And when it first opened they had: Huckleberry Hounds Paddle Boats
  20. I have a map from when Little Wonders still existed. It also uses the old logo.
  21. Eventhough Hanna Barbera Land/Little Wonders Land is closed is the Sky Ride/Chairlift still standing or has it been removed.
  22. It was called Judy Jetsons' Jetliners. They were little orange space cars that went up and down around a circular track. It was near Scooby's Silly Stix (which was a big building with slides and climbing ladders...) and near that Theater which had puppet shows and was themed like a tree. Opposite of that was the Hanna Barbera All Starts Paddle Boat Racers. The cars used to be visible from the Zodiac and used to sit behind the shops in old Hanna Barbera Land.
  23. Did you ask about the future of the Beastie.
