  1. Even better than I expected. It makes the drop so much more imposing. Congrats to the manufacturer of the face - it looks identical to the renderings.
  2. Thanks for the pics. It'll be good when it gets topped off with the face. The OCD in me hates the unfinished top of the drop.
  3. Unfortunately I don't think you really get an idea of the scale of the thing in this ad. There's only a brief moment where the lift hill flashes up. I would have emphasised its height and length. Could almost be any coaster/attraction. Do appreciate the theming though
  4. I knew you guys would summarise it perfectly, well done. Richard - have you ever considered a career as a journalist? Australian media needs you
  5. And VRL has shown they are more than willing to make good use of the capital they receive in asset sales - stretching it as far as possible and reinvesting into new attractions and developments.
  6. Such a bait! They also mentioned proceeds would go towards projects such as Top Golf.
  7. Slick - you truly lived up to your name with those incredible photos and video.
  8. I'm glad they have announced that it will definitely operate at night during Fright Nights. That'll be a huge drawcard.
  9. "Some big announcements coming soon". Sounds promising!
  10. ^ Holy crap. First pic of the almost completed hill and drop that gives me a real sense of the scale of this thing. Amazing.
  11. ^ I couldn't decide between the crying and fountain emoticons to express how bad that joke was.
  12. I tend to agree. VRTP would be laughing at the idea that a one-off injection of $25 million could be considered a large investment over the medium to longer term, and also the idea that you have to sell something off to find the cash. DW has definitely had a long period of under investment with Ardent at the helm, as we have long recognised on these forums, and I appreciate that these guys have brought attention to that; but they will need more than $25 million to even compete with Rivals alone. And as the poster above mentioned, what about the following years?
  13. They're already doing more marketing for their $3 million dollar slide than Movie World is doing for their $40m coaster. Go them
  14. My thoughts exactly, Richard. I have always been extremely underwhelmed by the Ardent board. I remember watching the value of my shareholding plummet while the director's voted to increase their salaries. Maybe I would have been more sympathetic if I felt they were willing to truly invest in Dreamworld and do the right thing by the Gold Coast. But, that wasn't the case.
  15. I don't mind people posting the full text of articles here! It saves us from giving clicks to Rupert Murdoch's evil News Corpse
  16. That hill is MASSIVE! I love the pic showing guests in the Green Lantern queue with the Rivals track in the background and GL track in the foreground. We've got a real theme park now!
  17. I didn't know anything about them wanting to sell the park. Have a read of some the articles in the 'media' section - they mention that they want to focus on Dreamworld and other Australian assets, they recognise the importance of the park, and condemn the current directors for failing to re-invest in the park.
  18. Check out - http://fixardent.com.au/ I'm sure most of us would agree with the sentiment expressed by these guys, and I'm hoping they are able to take control of the company. In my opinion, Ardent has been terribly managed for many years now, and the current board should be removed. I speak from personal experience after losing a significant amount of wealth from having once invested in the company's shares. But more than anything, I want to see Dreamworld succeed, and it sounds like these guys do too, and have an idea of what it will take to make that happen.
  19. Love seeing these parks thrive. Only issue I can see is that two Victorian parks will have a Tornado Wave if this goes ahead. Maybe it's not too late for Adventure Park to go with a different slide type.
  20. Extreme Swings are really ugly, and a version at Cedar Point apparently had lots of mechanical issues and was involved in an incident in 2014 where one of the cables snapped and injured two riders. I think SW should steer clear.
  21. Somebody hand over the company to this man! Knows exactly what DW needs.
  22. You're probably right, but then if that was the case why bother? Why not do something completely new and get the marketing mileage out of it? Why not remove all traces of the Goldrush theme?
  23. Wow, and here I was thinking Jordan M. had just made up something completely. Sorry Jordan!! I'm just surprised, considering how much the mine ride has been dissected to death on these forums over recent years, that the old thread doesn't even seem to have been revived with this major confirmation. I am really surprised about this announcement for so many reasons. I thought, as I'm sure many others did, they'd be looking to remove all traces of Gold Rush and build an entirely new precinct in the area. And I certainly didn't think considering everything that has happened they'd take a chance in recommissioning an old ride like this one, not that I'm against it. Unless it is going to be an entirely new ride, which seems unlikely. They can't get Wipeout up and running -- how are they going to manage mine ride?
  24. They did??? I think you'd find the return of mine ride would have been heavily discussed on these forums if that was the case. Care to direct us to this particular media release?
