  1. Sad to hear about the on-board audio not working. Hopefully that gets fixed very soon. Also sad to hear about the temporary white quickshades. I really hate it when theme parks ruin a decent looking area with stuff like that - almost as much as I hate theme parks that stick up laminated A4 printed signs everywhere. I'm just surprised they didn't think about shade when they were planning the queue. I really hope they build some decent shade structures that complement the theming and not just slap up a standard Village white sail. Doesn't Batwing Spaceshot use a big temporary (but now permanent) umbrella over its queue? Looks hideous
  2. That's a real shame isn't it. I can't understand these sound restrictions especially when I look at Google Maps and the nearest residents are not exactly squashed up against the park. There is a fair distance to the houses and there also appears to be lots of trees in between. Anyway, if this is the case, I guess Movie World will have to focus on indoor rides in this area. Fine with me! More dark rides please MW!
  3. I'd be sad to see Boot Hill go - it's a nice little side feature and I always loved it as a kid. Although the last time I went it was in need of maintenance/upkeep. Also, don't you think it would be better to see the showstage removed and a new ride put into this area (eg. wooden rollercoaster)? Especially considering MW's apparent space restrictions
  4. Thanks for the information! You've done some good research there
  5. Wow Mulholland Madness is hated. I just looked at a POV and while it looks pretty basic - it's still got more theming and a longer ride time than Green Lantern
  6. Can you elaborate on this Gazza? Just had a quick look at Mullholland Madness and it seems like it had a kinda cool theming concept
  7. That's a shame to hear that Kumbak essentially took what was once one of the smoothest coasters around (Corkscrew) and made it rougher (Sea Viper). Not really an upgrade. Personally I wouldn't have used their services again. Let's hope they do a better job with Lethal Weapon
  8. Brilliant point! Agree completely. Although I would add this appears to be just an Australian phenomenon at the moment (despite our better economy). They are still adding big blockbuster rides and attractions to overseas parks
  9. Animatronics at Dreamworld? I doubt we'll see that again in our lifetime
  10. Oh how I'd love to see the control room. In fact I'd love to see any of the behind the scenes parts of that ride. If that's the case that Sally did work on the river ride, I'd love to see them invited back to do some more work at the park (if the rumours are true) - they do some really good stuff
  11. Well they do mention other rides on their website, some of which are far more rundown and out of date than Looney Tunes was. Im not saying Sally didn't do it - but I've never read or seen anything that says they did
  12. Hmm I'm not convinced that Sally Corp built Looney Tunes River Ride. Can't find any info on this
  13. ^ Well that's okay... not many things are biased towards tall people in this world
  14. It's a silly suggestion that Lethal Weapon might be or should be removed. Don't even tempt Movie World with such an idea. The last thing they should do is remove yet another ride. I actually really like the coaster. Being tall, I have no problem with headbanging and I've always found it to be smooth enough. I love the anticipation on the lift hill and the great feeling that comes with being suspended and having your feet dangling. It was one of the first American-standard coasters we got at one of our theme parks. Any moves to improve the ride by reducing the headbanging that some people experience would be welcome. I still think it's got a lot of life in it yet
  15. I cant imagine they'd spend such a large amount of money if it was going to be scrapped. Don't forget they have also built (or are in the process of building) a new themed waterplay/fountain area themed to Nickelodeon in the Sea World Resort
  16. Somebody commented on Movie World's facebook about not liking the final brake at the end. I did notice in one of the vids that the cars do tend to come to a slamming stop in the final brake run as the car comes back to the station. Talk about whiplash! Can't they make it a bit smoother? I'm guessing it might be because there is so little room - maybe they should have extended the station track? Also, this same person mentioned they got sick of the 'repeating audio'? Is the audio on loop throughout the ride (ie is the audio track not long enough to cover the whole ride therefore having to repeat?) Or do you think they were just talking about the fact they had ridden it so many times?
  17. I don't think everyone has shut up about it. I've read lots of comments from people saying that the theming and overall ride presentation has turned out to be quite reasonable. Nothing spectacular - and certainly not quite up to the 'old school' Movie World standard, but nevertheless it is certainly better than some of us were fearing
  18. I'd like to see this for Movie World's western area. Not sure if there's room though or issues with noise
  19. I think a re-theme of Lethal Weapon is MUCH NEEDED (due to its current state) and a DC theme does make sense. However once they have finished concentrating on this area at the front of the park, they really need to start looking at the rest of the park. Otherwise soon there will be little reason to leave the front area. It'd be great to see an expansion elsewhere such as a wooden coaster for the wild west
  20. It's times like this I really wish it was possible to 'like' comments on parkz
  21. ...and thank you Gazza. The theming/presentation sounds reasonable actually (phew!). I wouldn't have expected too much more for a ride of this sort. Hopefully Movie World will maintain the MIST & SOUNDS in the courtyard part. Glad to hear that the ride is smooth and that the on-board audio is good overall (apart from being too quiet). Good stuff!
  22. Any sign of rockwork theming in the queue and big GL logo on the coaster itself (as per the map)? Also, anyone have any idea yet what audio actually plays out of the speakers?
  23. The soft opening without any announcement is certainly upsetting a few of the fans on Movie World's facebook page. Personally I can't understand their obsession with the exact opening date HOWEVER these guys are pretty enthusiastic about it all and the park should be encouraging that enthusiasm. I think Movie World definitely needs to do a bit more work to improve their marketing, including their social marketing. They probably should have at least let the fans know today that there was a chance it might do a 'soft' opening this afternoon. They do keep promising their facebook fans will be the 'first' to hear about things, when in reality they often end up being the last
  24. Sometimes I think parks are actually quieter for a short period when a new attractions opens. It is this perverse logic where everyone thinks it is going to be crazy busy because a new ride has just opened, so nobody goes
