The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
GoGoBoy replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'm not surprised to hear this. It seems like the days of high standards of theming from Warner Village (Bermuda Triangle, Wild West Falls, Scooby etc.) might be over. Most recent additions just don't seem to have the attention to detail and theming $$$ spent on them -

How can Jet Rescue almost be open? The latest photos I have seen show the theming looking a long way from completion. What about this cave feature that has been talked about? -

I just don't get it. Seeing as though Village are supposed to be the theme park experts why are they almost always running late with their new major attractions these days? -
Um.... that's already been done

I can't believe what I'm reading. Dreamworld is turning into Boganworld. What's with ANOTHER sports related, specifically racing attraction? Is this the final legacy of Stephen Gregg? So disappointing. And virtual reality is so 1990. I don't like the direction the park is going in and I'd sell my Macquarie Leisure shares if they weren't already so low at the moment

I disagree. I personally much prefer the slides and attractions at WhiteWater World. In my opinion they are just much more fun. I also like the fact that they have the latest generation slides and the presentation is better than WnW. However I do agree the park is sorely in need of expansion. We know there are plans underway but it is just a matter of them actually starting the construction

Is it my imagination or are there only 2 photos in the latest update? I am having such trouble with this new gallery system! Is there any way I can view all the pics in a gallery as thumbnails on the one page? Similar to how they always used to be set up? -
Mirror Maze returning permanently to Luna Park
GoGoBoy replied to Ranger Dude's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well they shouldn't interfere with Coney Island which is the only original heritage attraction in the park just so they can house this mirror maze. I strongly agree with returning the maze but it should go somewhere other than Coney such as the building under the Wild Mouse. But ofcourse Luna Park will want to keep that area for their precious functions -

Ok so just by looking at those aerial shots (great idea by the way... I have had trouble understanding the layout of this coaster until seeing those shots) am I right in saying this ride covers significantly more area than Dreamworld's Motocoaster? The 2 launches also look very promising as we all know one of the many problems with Motocoaster is that it dies half way through. How much more track is left to be constructed? Is there still quite a bit more track to go up in that area next to the Bermuda show building? -
Breaking news: Village to buy Aussie World
GoGoBoy replied to GoGoBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Seems like it will be a great park. What frustrates me is that WhiteWater World seems to be just sitting around doing nothing while Village is constantly upping the stakes. Their plans have been approved... why don't they go ahead and start building? They are just going to fall further and further behind the 2 WnW's -
Yeah the pics worked, thanks Gazza. I've gotta say I think it's an ugly attraction and I don't like the way Wet 'n' Wild has been presenting their slides recently. Calypso Beach was the last attraction with decent presentation standards in my opinion. I really feel like these Kamakaze slides are in a way a step backwards. They are old waterpark technology which have since been superseded. I'm surprised to see WnW putting it in
-
But I can't even find the pics in the galleries! I'm having issues with the galleries and trying to find what I'm looking for
-
Why can't I see these alleged pictures? What am I missing? Everytime I log into a thread recently everyone is saying "wow, great pictures!" but I can never find where they are anymore

I've got to say I'm disappointed by what I've seen so far. It looks like it's just going to be another Motocoaster... and that's a scary thought. Here's hoping we begin to see some real points of difference over the coming weeks. Obviously I'd like to see some decent theming (which Dreamworld's Motocoaster seriously lacks) but most important is the ride experience. The layout must be a significant improvement on Motocoaster or else we are in for another lackluster coaster -
Who will be the new Dreamworld CEO?
GoGoBoy replied to TheMightyBoosh's topic in Theme Park Discussion
This is great news. Hopefully we will see the park steer away from Stephen Gregg's sports related attractions. I agree that the FlowRider and Motocoaster were terrible additions. And both were under his watch. Here's hoping for a CEO who understands the true meaning of a theme park -
I have to say I really loved this ride. It was a true dark ride. It was nice on a hot day because the pre-show cinemas were always well air conditioned. The pre-show involved entering one of a number of mini cinemas which basically looked like a standard (but slightly smaller) movie theatre. The idea was you were supposed to be watching a selection of Hollywood out-takes or bloopers and there was no mention of Gremlins. Then all of a sudden in the middle of the film you could hear the projectionist screaming and the sound of a Gremlin laughing. A staff member would then burst into the theatre and tell everyone to evacuate as Gremlin's had taken over the film vaults. You were then hurried out of the theatre through a back passage way. In this passage way was an animatronic Gremlin hanging from one of the lights above you. I should also point out that the Gremlins were very realistic looking. You would then board one of the ride vehicles in the loading area. I won't go into great detail of the ride itself but basically you were taken through the film vaults in the vehicle with Gremlins all around and chaos everywhere. It was a great atmosphere in the ride and actually a little scary for younger kids. I remember being really sad when they replaced it!

What would you do if 'you' owned or managed DW?
GoGoBoy replied to skystar_a320's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Haha I love that! I agree and would also make removing the Mick Doohan Motocoaster a first priority if I managed the park. And as Alex suggested, a public appology would certainly be required. I would also enjoy tearing down the terrible cheap 2D theming that is associated with that ride. I would love nothing more than to burn the Mick Doohan racing facts signage and all of those hideous banners etc. Such cheap and pathetic themeing has no place in a permanent THEME park. Then ofcourse I would steer the park away from Stephen Gregg's idea of introducing sports related or non-ride attractions and bring back what people really go to these parks for - rides... and they'd be good ones! -
Damn I got excited there for a minute. I was hoping Dreamworld's CEO Stephen Gregg might have been given the sack. Get rid of him and his pathetic sports related attractions I say!
-
Biggest waste of money. EVER. Talk about ruining the theming concept behind Movie World! Hideous
-
Well that's stupid. The water jets were the only feature that vaguely linked this coaster with its waterpark setting. Now it has nothing. It is just a dry rollercoaster in a waterpark which is a weird mix. I would be majorly disappointed if they added the Sidewinder slide too. It really is a poor man's Tornado
-
I think you will be missing out yes. We spent lots of time going up and down the Temple of Huey Slides (including the Little Rippers). The slides were fun and very re-rideable. Without it, the park is quite small

Breaking news: Village to buy Aussie World
GoGoBoy replied to GoGoBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It sounds to me as though this park is going to be more like WhiteWater World than Wet 'n' Wild. Now who's copying! I would say the H20 Zone section of Wet 'n' Wild will not be replicated (except the Tornado) because I believe they got those slides 2nd hand from a defunct waterpark. Not that I mind... I am not a big fan of H20 Zone. Some of the slides are kinda fun but it is just so poorly presented and layed out. It's like the Maloney's Corner (think Luna Park Sydney) of waterparks -
They are going to convert it into the Sunshine Coast waterpark they have been planning. Will include a Tornado and uphill water coaster. You can find the press release here http://www.villageroadshow.com.au/press_re...ntroduction.asp (click on the 'click here' link to load the PDF file)

I just noticed on the Council's DA website that the date that the decision was supposed to be made was quite a few months back. I also noticed there is a new entry which says 'On Hold' and is dated a few days ago. I wonder if it is Macquarie Leisure putting things on hold or the council. I would hate to see this project significantly delayed or cancelled altogether as WhiteWater World is such a great park but would benefit immensley from further expansion

Oh dear god not another Intamin motorbike coaster. Please tell me it's not true! Why are our parks so obsessed with Intamin? Normally it wouldnt be a bad thing but in the case of the motorbike coaster we know it's a terrible model! And the fact that 'low to the ground' has been mentioned does not bode well for the ride. This is how they were advertising Dreamworld's Motocoaster saying that by having it low to the ground it "increases the sensation of speed". What a load of...
