  1. No. Just no. Have you read any of the articles regarding the ride, including the one Jobe posted? Last time I checked (and i've spoken to the Hammons a few times now) they're certainly a genuine bunch of people, all things considered. If I were a business owner (which I am) and even though I love roller-coasters as much as the next guy here, I'd still be putting money on ideas that would actually be marketable. There's no ploys, no stories, no hot gossip here. It's a family business. We're still coming out of a GFC. If they ever get to it, we are going to be the luckiest bunch of enthusiasts the world over, and if not, thank god no one held their breath (although I wish some parts of the community did.)
  2. With the amount of research the greater community has on this thing, and how many times the project has been knocked back in favour of ideas that would/will make more money in their park, while it wouldn't surprise me if orphan rockers day has finally come, ill take it as fact when I see photos of something actually happening, and not just hearsay.
  3. After digging and digging and digging for quite a number of months now, i've got official word back from Sunway themselves regarding what happened to Space Probe. Long story short, it's been scrapped.
  4. Just out of curiosity, I remember the local council being a real bitch when it came to height restrictions on the spit. With storm being the height it is, has the council relaxed the restriction overall for the entire park/spit at large or will this be a one off approval?
  5. The whole situation regarding the parks closure and the rides has been somewhat shifty when you look at the bigger picture. All this "quarry" talk... You'd think if someone knew there was another reason behind the parks closure they would've whistle blown it by now instead of playing the "wait until 2054" cards.
  6. Thanks for that. I had a good dig through wonderland history already, and while its all well and good, it still doesn't clarify where it is in the present, as to my best bet it's been quite a few years since that was written. Also, I can't for the life of me find said paddock.
  7. This has been bugging me for many years now. Being a fan of all things Intamin and anything park nostalgia, I've continued to find it maddening how a 67m tall tower and its rotating cousin have just vanished into thin air. Now there's a lot of rumours, half truths and chatter from the grape vine as to where they landed up. From what I can gather, they weren't scrapped, were infact dismantled and prepped for shipping, and even the space probe parts made it as far to Malaysia, where they were prepped for install until "something happened" (I've heard footer and safety issues to my knowledge.) So to further the story I thought I'd open it up to the broader community. Do some of our ex wls employees know anything further? I've been persisting with sunway for answers but still hasn't gotten any results. I'm sure any information will be greatly welcomed by the community at large.
  8. Coolest themeing idea i've seen from an Aussie theme park since the gigantic Green Lantern lamp.
  9. If I was thrown in as management and was told I only had a few million to turn the park around, i'd rip every square inch of motocoaster and Mick Doohan branding (not to be confused with themeing) off the coaster, strip it bare, and turn it into some jungle bikes themed ride and attempt to revive some dignity back to that god-awful corner of the park known as "rivertown." Let's face it, the station is poorly designed, the building is ugly, and the whole project is essentially the steaming tip of the current Dreamworld dog turd. Dreamworld kept virtually everything studio-wise that was theirs in place because it would've cost money to actually do anything that required effort. Simple as that. That's why the Big Brother Compound itself was in such destitute before the show got picked up again. We're all forgetting here we've got a large group of managerial hot-heads who are never, ever, ever going to admit they cocked up at some point over the past few years. Park morale is at an all time low. Long-standing employees are leaving because of this. The park is the way it is because of management, management and management. Sure, another park down the road may have had similar issues. The key difference however is Village are experience-orientated and driven, have a great park lineage, are self-aware and thus bounced back quick. Ardent is a different beast. From the cutback ride hours, the steam trains, to the SBNO attraction list that probably outdoes some parks that are actually closed permanently, to the clusterfuck streak of mishandled decisions (IMAX & Goldie the Clown is just a starter), it's clear that management are on another planet entirely, and clearly don't give a rats except for numbers and riding the brand for every cent its worth. Settle in lads, we're in the long haul.
  10. But Motocoaster is the best ride in Australia?
  11. The point I was trying to make was that rather then saying "hey, AVPX is relaunching as blah this year" they're trying to sell it like it's something brand spanking new to the park. I just see it as dishonest but i'm sure they see it as justified way to letting consumers know that they have to recoup their "loss" on having to actually do something new with their park.
  12. Because nothing says "new attraction" like gutting a ride only a few years old and replacing it with something that will be, in some way or another, probably very similar to the last attraction that was there before it.
  13. Maybe we could do an online petition? Because they work and stuff.
  14. Here's a good question, does Dreamworld still read these forums?
  15. I do find it amusing that because Dreamworld has shown such a huge amount of contempt for its customers that despite how ridiculous the thought is in reality, that everyday park-goers think the place is closing. I don't know how it could be screamed any louder - Dreamworld, your park is going to shit. Do something about it.
  16. Just a heads up EVP World... Your ticketing partner "ticketgreen" has no encryption on credit card handling.
  17. I was there Monday week ago and had a ride-operator out the front of the Cyclone telling guests that the ride closed at 2:30pm for no other reason than that's when it closes now, which was way earlier then when it SHOULD have closed. Could they not have just had her operate the ride instead of flagging people off? (And for those who ask, the operator has been with the park for a very long time AND Dreamworld recently botched the queue line yet again so they could in fact operate with one person.) I'm with djrappa, it's down right pathetic these days. You know shit's bad when you need a security guard minding where you handle your complaints during business hours. So, just for reference, we've got: - Completely random ride closures - Pissweak opening hours - Paddlewheeler rotting in a hidden part of the park - Mine Ride just sitting there waiting for basically a few parts, still in totally fine condition - Chairlift remains - Blue Lagoon remains - Restricted train hours - Trains being replaced by crappy diesel counterparts - Crappy theatre instead of IMAX - Tower of Terror travelling slower then ever before - No Giant Drop photos Have I missed anything? (and let's not even bother with the clusterfuck that is WhiteWater World)
  18. Great watermark. Just sayin'. You couldn't have made it smaller?
  19. Just to update, the thread on Facebook got some pretty decent traction with a fair few peeps - http://www.facebook.com/dreamworld/posts/10151339629613613?comment_id=25438407&offset=0&total_comments=27&notif_t=feed_comment At this point its kinda like banging my head against my desk - it seems no matter how much we as a collective group keep doing this nothing will change.
  20. I think Sapient Nitro (Dreamworld's advertising gurus) seem to scream corporate bland, which for a shareholder-driven park works perfectly.
  21. Don't you mean inceptualise the Movie World?
  22. So I threw my opinion in again on Dreamworld's page again. Check it out here - http://www.facebook.com/dreamworld/posts/10151339629613613 What do you think? Yay or nay? Or is it just trollworthy?
  23. 99% sure license is finished up with Fox. Dreamworld will want to retain that corner of the park as is for corporate events so i'd expect to see some new theme get whacked in there with minimal cost spent and an advertising campaign to the likes of heralding the second coming of christ.
  24. It's an awfully executed idea. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how else Ardent cock up Dreamworld.
  25. Are you aware of the irony? My apologies for trying to keep the train on the rails. My opinion? If JacobSibbald has heard a rumour, cool. Should we question his authenticity? Absolutely. Should we be constructive about it and positive rather then negative, condescending and derail an entire thread so the opinions of few can be found to be right and justified? I don't enjoy reading pages of unsubstantiated junk just as much as the next guy. But this isn't the first time everyone's jumped on some poor sod who's just tried to participate. Hell, I remember being the guy with crazy rumours at one point. So let's be adults, yeah? Maybe then the lurkers, the google searchers, the new enthusiasts will actually want to register and post too, and that way we'll have a forum for likeminded peeps who want to share with other likeminded peeps, instead of the two/three thread race filled with the same people bickering like we have currently. /end rant. With the exception of Green Lantern, i'd dare say we're a little inversion poor. Has anyone else been on Takabisha, in Fuji-Q Highlands? I found it very intense and quite amazeballs to ride, particuarly with the hidden barrel roll and the 120 degree drop. Would this make a good fit? It's marketable, it's the right capacity and i'd dare say the right price too (roughly). If dreams came true i'd kill for a B&M Batman Clone. If fantasies were actually possible (some of them are, technically, if you know what I mean) a 4D Coaster much like Dinoconda would actually put Dreamworld on the map again for another 15 years (considering that's what TOT/GD did afterall). ALSO, I don't think Dreamworld's done anything truly commendable since The Claw in 2004. Even Tower of Terror 2 was bastardised to a certain degree, with more of the same lacklustre themeing and questionable extended tunnel blocking off half the park, and let's not go into: [*]how putting Flowrider in a dry park is a smart idea with water park next door [*]ripping out one of the better family attractions to put in a wad of concrete in called MDMC [*]stopping the boat people (Paddlewheeler) [*]Shockwave (remember the "blue green-ocean themeing" turning out to be spraypainted wood chips?) [*]ripping out the helipad for an obversation deck of the car park and BuzzSaw [*]Mine Ride. Yeah. [*]AVPX in Ocean Parade (Yes, I get it works well for corporate nights to put all your shit in one area. But its still a bad idea) [*]Taking the water out from underneath Wipeout [*]The Main Street Roof. Oh god, the Main Street Roof. [*]IMAX? What IMAX? [*]being illusive about the Looney Tunes Ride replacement timeframe.
