  1. Major upgrade could refer to practically anything, and might not even refer to something that changes anything from a guest perspective, It could mean an electrical system upgrade on a ride, or an upgrade to a kitchen in a food outlet for instance.
  2. I know that the Superman sign has been out the front on the closed ride list on all of my visits, but its only out there to warn people at the gate it closes in inclement weather (there is a little not stuck below it) was it this you were seeing?
  3. Sorry, but for me it just had no highlights to it, and a repetitive layout with all turns and no air, and was forceless. It does achieve a smooth, wind through your hair type feeling, but other than that it just didn't stand out for me at all. Don't get me wrong, If you like it that's fine, and its a win for you, but for me it didn't really fill any of my criteria for what i feel makes a good coaster.

I dont know then. One thing to do is to go into the NL folder, and click on the red AVI Setup icon, you can set the file save location there, so at least they will go where you want. The main way you know the AVI is recording is that the game slows down a lot whilst recording. The only way I can think of your number pad zero not working is if you are working on a lap top that doesn't have a separate number pad , in which case you'd need to press Fn first to activate those keys. But it absolutely must be that ^ Zero you are pressing, not the other. I cant think of any other reason why it wouldn't be working. As for uploading a track file, well, that's the easy bit. -Go to Program Files\NoLimits Coasters v1.6\tracks -Then right click on the track you want, pick Send To, and then pick Compressed (Zipped) Folder. -A new folder will be created which has the zipped up track file -Upload this zipped file on the forum.

It should give a little indication, remember it needs to be the zero over on the number pad you press, not the zero that is shared with the ")" symbol that is in the top row. Also, you can always do a search on your computer for the video file...just search for the name of the ride. Do that just in case it's not going to the right folder. I cant remember the key to do manual dispatch, but if you just press "h" in the simulator it brings up all the keyboard shortcuts, so you can find them there whenever you need them. Can you post the track file?

You can take a video in the simulator by pressing 0 on the number pad, and then press it a second time to stop recording. BUT, before you actually run the ride in the simulator, go into setup from the main menu, then go into graphics, then set the resolution down as low as it will go which I think is about 400X300. When the simulator is running it will look all pixelated, but the final AVI file created (which will normally be located in \Program Files\NoLimits Coasters v1.6\screenshots ) will have the same screen size as a normal Youtube video. Of course, you can run the sim at the normal high resolution, but then you will end up with a massive file size. As a guide, a 400X300 video in NL comes out at around 320MB/min. Of course, the best thing to do is just zip the track file up and upload that instead, so that way people can see the ride at full res, and can fly around the track environment....that and the fact track files are really small.

I say upload it (You need to zip it first). We could give you a fair bit of feedback now on how to improve things, so you can start good habits early. Plus, it will be interesting down the track when you look back at this and see how far you have come.

    But it wasn't very good?
  9. It will also be their fifth family attraction in a row, which is getting a bit frustrating.
  10. What about that cliffhanger ride that appears at the shows? Which is the same idea, just a different manufacturer. It's about triple that: 605m long.

Double click on a segment of track, and that will bring up the track settings menu (Eg colour, speed settings if it is a brake, acceleration settings if its a transport etc) then just tick the tunnel check box. Just remember, the tunnel will only show up when you are riding the ride in the simulator, it wont show up in the editor.
  12. ^Less than 4 months ago actually. It wasn't particularly difficult to remember , nor was the post hard to find since I remember it coming up in that best coaster in Australia thread, which has been active fairly recently. It's funny because you were basically trying to say I was wrong even though you had never ridden the ride in question. I'd be willing to bet that you haven't been on Superman either. That sentence doesn't make sense. Much what?
  13. But I thought you had ridden LW? http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=49841
  14. You could just wander into the LW weapon theatre to watch the film, then leave again without riding if you were really just interested in seeing what happens. Not up to riding? What, don't you trust the work of your fellow employees in the maintenance department

    No Limits Help

The help files in the game can probably explain this better than I can, but here goes. There are premade elements. Click File, and go down to Insert Element. The game comes with a whole bunch of premade elements you can use. The folder named Elementpack 2 is probably the most useful. Pick an element file then open it. In then brings up a little box where you can adjust the scale of the elements (one of the ones you can use is a 30m high loop, if say you want it to be 45m high, then you'd move the slider to 150%. You can also mirror the element. When you are learning these elements are useful, you can easily make layouts and see what works, without spending ages building everything yourself. You can also look at how the element was done so you can do your own in the future. When you get more confident you can set about building your own inversions. Things like loops are easy to start off with, just switch to side view and make the the loop shape. If you want to do a custom support structure, you have to place nodes. these are on the far left side of the toolbar (red dots) A fundament node is a footer, so it is a concrete block that connects supports to the ground, these can only be placed on the ground. A free node you can place anywhere, but ill get to them in a second. A track node connects supports to the track, and these can only be placed on the track. If you were doing a simple A frame support like the one the side of this loop: http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/search/hulk/1,5,1932-Loop.html you would put a track node on the track, then switch to top view and put fundament nodes on the ground either side. Now, to put in actual support tubes, you first pick a beam type. These icons are next to the ones for the nodes, and look like cylinders. you just drag a line between nodes, and it makes a support connect them. So for that loop example, you would drag a line between the fundament node on one side to the track node, and then a line from the track node to the other fundament node. It is important to use the top, front, back, left and right views to your advantage so you can see what you are doing. You cant place nodes in 3D view, but you can drag in the tubes, so use this view too. Now, the other node type i didnt talk about yet was free nodes. These can be put anywhere in the building area, and if you need to do something more complex then these are necessary. You'll need to use all views to make sure you get it them the right spot. An example of the way you could use them is like with the bent supports on the motocoaster. http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coas...otocoaster.html Youd put a fundament node on the ground to the side of the track, then a track node on the track, then a free node directly above the fundament, and then join the fundament node to the free node, and the the free node to the track node. A couple of other points to do with supports. -You cant connect a fundament node directly to another fundament node, which makes sense because what would be the point of a support running along the ground. -You can connect an unlimited amount of tubes to a node, so if you need to make complex supports like this http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/US/Orlando/I...-Near_Miss.html where a lot of tubes join together then you are free too.
  16. ^Undoubtedly, their rides are the smoothest ones out there, to put it in perspective they are smoother than Superman Escape.
  17. ^But then you are basically upending the table on the whole essence of the ride: a coaster with onboard music and a musical theme. Plus at the same time you are demolishing an attraction needlessly, and you are back to square one with the problem of MW "not having enough to do". And anyway, do we really want or need another Batman ride? I think its pushing it a bit far with the public to be bringing out yet another Batman thing when there are so many other themes they could do. And anyway, the SFNE version of the ride is themed to batman in the weakest sense, all they have done is paint a big batman logo on the ground, and made the station a purple shed, then put a few trees around...that doesn't count as themed to me! I was only using that coaster as an example of the style and scale of what MW could do, not as a thematic example. It's not as if you would be 'leaving' it Batman themed since that was something Six Flags did, not B&M. Only thing I'm struggling with is what you would name a musical coaster.
  18. ^Haha good idea with the all black uniforms and lanyard...dont forget, the word STAFF needs to be screen printed in white block letters on the back. And yeah, go for an APRA licence, for the area the size of the ride building, its like $730 per year. As for location, no doubt they could fit one in, I scaled in the Batman floorless layout, so one decent location could be: Of course, its a bit of a hike out there, but you would hope the gaps would be gradually filled out and the routes out there (Eg via chinatown, or the western area) would be made a bit more liveley... eg the gap between scooby doo, LW and the show stage could have a river rapids or something. The area opened up would do them fine land wise for at least 10 years IMO.
  19. Wowowowow! Fantastic effort! That captures exactly what I had in mind in terms of layout. Haha, I feel embarresed for not learning sketchup properly. The only thing I can nitpick is that the TV montiors should be in the back, brown coloured part of the queue (a couple would be above the stairs, and then a set of about 5 would be spaced above the loading chutes) The only exception would be a single screen at the top of the Singles line since they would need instructions too. Now if you can just imagine the bit on the front of the stage having rigging and lights like this: then you have the basic idea. Again, awesome effort!
  20. How much staying power would such a tour have? Would it be something people would want to do more than once?
  21. Here are a couple of stupid letter in the Herald Sun (We can get them up here in Qld a day late, so we get them for AFL news etc) Letters like that belong in Spain with the Eiffel Tower. Hey, we're all in generation Y, lets all sit at home with our DVDs and our SMS and our iPods and games, clearly thats enough for us, I mean who the hell would want to go head out and do something?
  22. Don't double post. I was thinking something of a smaller scale like Batman at SFNE: I quite like this design, it is the same scale as the rest of MWs coasters, has adequate capacity without oversupplying it, and has a tidy layout that makes good use of space. In particular its good because you get a lot of B&Ms signature elements: a big first loop, a dive loop, a zero g roll and interlocking corkscrews, as well as their famous fast pacing. The pic below shows it next to the SLC at SFNE, so you can get an idea of its scale. While of course it would be everyones dream if we could have something big like Kraken, its just a bit too far out of the budget constraints of our parks. And Bern, that sounds like a pretty interesting idea, the key though would be to make it more interesting then comparable things like the Matrix Exhibit. I'd also somehow consider a way to have it all above ground, since digging out such a big area would be needlessly expensive, especially if it were a temporary attraction.
  23. ^Well, the most recent one was Hydra, which was built for $13,000,000 USD. Ive done a rough sketch at what I was getting at before. Purple is the route normal guests take through the queue..they first dump their stuff in the lockers, then split off into the main switchback area with all the lights etc (The 'Audience' area), this area remains at ground level, and you can see a pair of walls help filter out daylight. The queue then passes under the front of the station and under the op booth into the "Backstage" area. The queue splits again, with a separate front row line that heads upstairs. Normal guests also head upstairs, and come around into the station area (The "On Stage" bit) where you pick your row (back row gets a slightly longer loading chute) When you exit, you go down a ramp that runs along the side of the main switchback area, which then leads back out to the locker area, before heading out through the shop (this avoids the problem you get on superman where people don't have money when they pass through the shop since they haven't been back to the lockers) The light yellow line is the single rider queue. Guests basically come up a ramp on the side of the main switchback area to the station where there is an operator controlled turnstile, so guests can quickly be let in and take their place from the other side of the train. One thing I thought of is how they could do the safety video (which would be shown in the latter part of the queue), you could have a stage manager with a clipboard saying something like "Ok, you guys are the next act up, so lets just run through a few things, yeah?"..."When you get out there, go straight across and sit yourself down, pull down the harness, and fasten the buckle" <Show footage of people boarding>..."Now, it looks like we haven't got down what you're playing on here" <Showing the clipboard>..."So to pick it out, run through the tracks by pressing the skip button, then lock it in by pressing OK" <Show footage of the selection system>..."But dont muck around for too long, or well have to pick a song for you....ok thats about everything, dont forget to keep your head back and hold on as it gets pretty hectic out there..... break a leg!"
  24. Make sure you upload some pics if there is anything interesting going on
  25. ^No, You'd just pick the song in the time it takes between pulling down your restraint and when the train is dispatched, which is plenty of time given the ops will be checking the other rows. On Hollywood Dream it just picks a song for you if you dont get one selected in time. In other words, its not possible for it to slow down operations.
