  1. Its that time of the year again, Mitch Hawker has released the 2007 Best Steel Coaster Poll at http://www.ushsho.com/bestrollercoasterpoll.htm Its worth doing because the process used in ranking the results is best practice and stops the poll from being a popularity contest. Ill be doing it for the first time ever given I have ridden a decent number of coasters now (And this seems to be the case for a few other members), but anyone can do it regardless of how much you have ridden. If the spreadsheet method of ranking rides is too hard, this site http://www.coasterfanatics.com/sec_poll/ has an easy to use applet that you can just click through to do your ballot. Now last year our collective high ranks managed to get Superman at MW to 16th spot, which is pretty respectable. Maybe we should collectively give Motocoaster low ranks and put it in its rightful spot ,though I'm guessing it will end up there naturally.
  2. Well, a couple of maunfacturers do. There is S&S/Arrow, who built Ejanaika at Fuji Q and X at Six Flags Magic Mountain. But I mean Ejanaika cost about $37,000,000 AUD and that is so far out of an Aussie parks budget its not funny (Personally if I had that much to spend there would be other things I would be choosing) A far more realistic option is the Intamin Zac Spin ( http://www.rcdb.com/m/ig3613.htm?picture=20 ), its about $5,000,000 AUD, and seems like a tidy little package (Bigger models are available) LOL, are you getting these ride types off RCT?
  3. The pipeline coaster is a bit of a dead idea these days (TOGO, the company which made them went out of buisness) Originally they were done so they could pull off a heartline roll: http://www.rcdb.com/m/ig46.htm?picture=3 But I guess they cottoned on that you dont have to go to all the trouble of making it run between the rails, instead you can just get a normal coaster and shape the track appropriately to get the same effect: http://www.rcdb.com/m/ig1412.htm?picture=19
  4. Well, by the sounds of it, a 3D dark ride sounds to me like something along the lines of The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman or Curse of Darkastle. If this were the case (And it were pulled off well) then it could well be a fantastic ride. The amphibious vehicles sound a bit odd, it gives the impression the ride would be a water coaster. I would imagine though they would actually be motion base ones. The door is always open for this project at any park with a big enough budget. Paramount parks don't exist any more so it could really go anywhere (Hopefully to MW obviously) It could very well end up Spiderman-esque by its very nature, bad from an originality point of view, but good because its a quality ride. The way I envision it you would have battle sequences projected onto various screens, with the byproducts of the battle, like fire and debris happening live so guests can feel it. I'd love it if they incorporated that mindblowing freefall effect like on Spiderman...perhaps Megatron could 'pick up' the ride vehicle and lift riders to face level, before tossing them to the ground, where one of the good autobots would save the day and 'catch' the vehicle. Another moment in the ride could be the Allspark accidentally making contact with the ride vehicle, causing it to 'transform' and do something erratic.
  5. A tornado is a tornado, not a bowl: http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coas...le_Rippers.html PS, I already acknowledged that both parks had Tornado slides:
  6. Wet 'n' Wild in Australia does not have a bowl slide. The Wet 'n' Wild in Orlando does, but not the one here.
  7. ^I think the best example I have seen of an overpriced food and drink item is at Sydney Airport, where a place was selling 600mL flavoured milk for $6.50 a bottle........I'll take the crab juice.
  8. Well, here is the prototype being asked about: I reckon you wouldn't even be 'upside down' at the top, it looks more like you would end up sideways at the apex. In any case, it looks pretty cool, Id do as Dj said and have the roof of the slide transparent so onlookers and riders could see what is going on.
  9. They showed footage on the news, and the car was stopped perched on the transition into the second drop. I wonder why it stopped there, do Galaxi's have a block brake there? If so its a pretty stupid spot for one as there is no catwalk and its not flat, But I'm guessing it was probably some sort of other mechanical failure that caused it to stop. LPM should buy its own cherry picker.
  10. ^It's his idea for one common sense solution to the problem, he was just putting it out there Tony.
  11. Why not just make the bottom section of the drop open? there would be no need for it to be enclosed anyway. The thing I would be worried about would be running out of chuff just past the apex of the loop, dropping off and hitting my face on the 'roof' of the vertical part on the way down from the loop. Though that drop looks big enough for that not to happen. As for it being a capacity nightmare, well it would be no worse than a Probowl or whatever. The slide would last the whole of 10 seconds. My questions are how they got around the problem of water gathering at the bottom of the drop, and how the upside down part is lubricated, with the latter I'm guessing it is just sprayers, but IMO they would be horrible to plow through.
  12. Quick, you'd better email the manufacturer, I'm sure they never considered the possibility of somebody getting stuck.
  13. ^Yeah, but point is he may (or may not) have a general idea of what they will (or wont) do once the shed gets moved. Even if they dont have all the applications done, they would still have an idea of what they want to do.
  14. I have just reuploaded the offending photos (When i click the edit link it says you have to be an admin) so the ones that didn't work can just be deleted.
  15. ^Do you have a vommie when you ride the Claw, since that swings too?
  16. Big deal, the one at WL had a nude woman figurehead too.
  17. Disney is fine with that sort of stuff so you can wear them all day. With SFMM you would have to take them off to ride Deja Vu, X2, Scream, Tatsu and Batman and leave them at the station. At Knotts you would have to take them off for Riptide, La Revolucion and Silver Bullet and leave them in the station or on the ground. SFMM and Disneyland are big though, are you sure you want to do that amount of walking in thongs?
  18. Just did another round of photos (Camp Jurassic, and one of the shark reef ones), but in the galleries and my submissions page they have shown up as just a plain text title in maroon.
  19. So where is this shed going anyway?
  20. I heard it was just a warehouse for the retail operations at the park. Nothing interesting.
  21. Seems stupid, about a minute ago I threw a few cards from my walled hard, they travel the whole of two meters before stopping and fluttering gracefully to the ground, so no risk of hurting anyone there. They have to realize that zippers dont just explode, causing the contents of peoples pockets to spew out everywhere. At the US parks, on days where I didn't use lockers, everything rode around with me just fine. I know if the bouncers tried to pull anything on me like that I would kick up a stink at guest relations. Ah well, nothing will change, though speaking to another member on here, supposedly you can get stuff through if you have the right gear on, hoodies with stuff in the front pocket work well apparently.
  22. ^Mate, you of all people shouldn't be picking on peoples spelling and grammar. Edit: That was direct at DW_Rulz
  23. Well, pretty much, most of MWs patrons are locals.... Though then again, not everyone who rides LW is slow, but yeah you can get what djrappa is saying. Max Thrust, I dinna ken how they could tell if you had an annual pass in your pocket. That's credit card sized and can sit flat against your body....X-ray vision?
  24. ^I thought WVTP had bought out the locker operations at each of its parks, at least that's what their last shareholder report led me to believe. Or did this not include the ones at SE. Come on mate, the American GP is way dumber than us Personally, I think the Universal system would work (Actually, the main concern with that one is forgetting your locker number IMO) but I mean management obviously have it in their heads what would happen if they did provide them free (You yourself have stated the same reasons they have given) so nothing will change, which is a shame. With LW it all comes down to the fact people have to cross over and put their stuff away before taking a seat, which delays when checking can begin. With loose items, its an all or nothing type thing. If is nothing allowed like SE or Hulk things are quick, and if everything is allowed Llike SDSC or RnRC its also quick. Property boxes in the station are what kills things, its not just Aussies who are slow, the generally crap station designs at SFMM get the same problems.
