  1. I remember having a young couple on Zodiac one day and they were the only ones on and when the ride came down the chick had her head in his lap. Lets just say when she came up for air she was licking her lips. "The Bus is now leaving for Lipscombe Rivulet, Tasmania"
  2. That’s exactly right Raver. And considering Sunway's core business is not theme parks it makes a lot of sense to off load an investment that is not making them enough money. "The Bus is now leaving for Coreouter, Bore, Western Australia"
  3. I have several unused staff issued complimentary tickets, my name badges, other people's name badges, my ID, bits and pieces off different rides including one very special part of Demon that I would bet that not many if anyone has. And heaps of other stuff that I'm not going to bother listing here. On the subject memorabilia, I drove past the Eastern Creek Rural Fire Service station today like I do every day and don't really pay attention too but today I noticed that in one of the garden out the front is a tombstone from Transylvania, one of the ones in the garden around the monster in the hole. "The Bus is now leaving for Ticket Of Leave Park, NSW"
  4. koolkidsyd I thought I would just let you know that about a hour ago I drove past the gates to Wonderland and there was a dog squad Ute sitting at the gates waiting to go in. "The Bus is now leaving for Uteara, NSW"
  5. It was impossible to keep the park open because the company wanted to cash in on it's investment and so the decision was made. The fact that they didn't invest in new attractions is proof of this. Your second paragraph pretty much sums up what I was going to say, it was a foreign investor who had no interest in the long term use of the park (and why should they? They bought it so they can and did what they want with it). You have to remember that this is business that we are talking about and they are definitely not compassionate bodies. One more thing can you supply us with some figures to back up your claim about the Malaysian parks having low attendance. "The Bus is now leaving for Malay Pool, Western Australia"
  6. GoBoi do you really think that Sunway would just give up some of it's assets for nothing? Get serious. This is a business and as much as you or anyone else may not like it the fact is they exist to make money, no other reason. What would have rather they done? And don't say keep the park open because that is impossible. From what I understand ING do own the land but Sunway own the rides still. This may have changed since I last heard, as there was a deadline as to when this was going to happen but if negotiations were underway ING may have allowed Sunway to keep ownership of the rides. "The Bus is now leaving for Ownaview, Queensland"
  7. It might do but with the close proximity of Albion Park aerodrome that would make it impossible. "The Bus is now leaving for Albion Park Aerodrome, NSW"
  8. Just like Wonderland had all new attractions when it opened. If it wasn't for 'hand me downs' in the industry we wouldn't have an industry. What new park (not part of a chain) could afford 100% new rides? You have to start somewhere and it always starts somewhere else. "The Bus is now leaving for Second Sands, Tasmania"
  9. I think that topic has been covered ad nauseam. "The Bus is now leaving for Coverdale Cove, Western Australia"
  10. I can assure you that the Wonderland site is still used by the police as a training area for the dogs. How do I know this? I have seen them on the site several times this year. When was the last time I saw them there? The beginning of last week. I have spoken to the Wonderland security dog handlers about how they and the police train the dogs and they told me that the majority of the training is done on a leash but some of it is done off leash (going over fences, etc). "The Bus is now leaving for Wet Lead Creek, Victoria"
  11. They do and still do let the dogs run free at night at Wonderland. And it's not only the security officers dogs that are on site I have seen the Police dogs there several times doing training and patrols. Just let me know when you are going in and I will call the cops... I mean come with you. "The Bus is now leaving for Ghost Dogs Gully, NSW"
  12. It was never my wish for the park to be shut down and demolished but it was reality. The fact that you kept trying to save the place long after it was do able is sad but commendable. I find it very funny that the Wonderland section has the most posts considering that the majority of people here are from Queensland. "The Bus is now leaving for Gonella, NSW"
  13. I'm sure that if you contact them scott they will open it sooner or later depending on your plans. I think December is the most likely date to open a new ride as it is the peak period and they would want huge crowds in the park for the opening. Personally I think that it would be sensible to open it late October or early November so that any teething problems that will occur can be worked out before the peak. "The Bus is now leaving for Focal Peak, Queensland"
  14. The great thing about the Internet is the anonymity of it. You can say what you like and it can be hard for someone to prove that it was you. Anyway are you talking about the harness failure's they had when the park re-opened? I know of two occurrences of this and luckily on both occasions no one was in the seats where the harnesses released mid-cycle. "The Bus is now leaving for Anonyma Shoal, Victoria"
  15. Yeah it is Paul and that statement has already been made. "The Bus is now leaving for The Circles, NSW"
  16. But that would require reading more than 5 lines of text in one go which is much too hard for someone like me with a short attention span. Excuse me a butterfly just flew past so I'm off to chase it. "The Bus is now leaving for Pauline Toner Butterfly Reserve, Victoria"
  17. Weeeeee the carousel is so much fun. I agree with Scream on this one (funny that considering we worked together for so long). A lot of the guest interaction was done on a one on one basis and Bounty's is a perfect example of this. You would tell people what to do via the microphone but then you would have to go and tell (usually 75%) of the people on the ride directly what you had just said over the microphone. On rides like Bounty's, Bush Beast, Snowy, Dodgems and Demon you are looking at 2-3000 people a day on each ride (normal 7 hours), and that doesn't include the people who choose not to ride but still come to the ride (another 100 or so per day). Alex your coin pitch spiel, although very impressive, would not have been directed on one or two people, but the general crowd in the area. "The Bus is now leaving for Coinville, South Australia"
  18. Which one? The Gympie one, which last time I was past there (earlier this year) was closed and the attached servo was fenced off. Or the Nambour one? "The Bus is now leaving for Pineapple Rocks, Tasmania"
  19. That video is the reason I don't go on carney rides. "The Bus is now leaving for Whymoul, NSW"
  20. Guest relating for an entire day because of a ride breakdown. I had to do this several times during my time at Wonderland and I can tell you that it would be 10 times harder than taking money off people for games they couldn't win. If you had ever stood in one place telling probably 1000 or more people in a day exactly the same thing and quite often you would have a about 20 people in front of you. That group would be made up of 5 or 6 separate groups and even though you had said that the ride was 'temporarily closed' and said it loud enough that everyone could hear you and you could see that they had heard you each of the 5 or 6 groups would still come to you and ask exactly the same question. It was a huge pain in the arse. "The Bus is now leaving for Baffle Group, Queensland"
  21. It made you laugh though didn't it? "The Bus is now leaving for Laughing Jack Marsh, Tasmania"
  22. If he was committed Wonderland would have been still open because he would have been in a nice padded cell somewhere. "The Bus is now leaving for Paddies Knob, NSW"
  23. I still don't see where I specifically said industry people do not visit the site. The first quote you have given says "If you had you would know that no one (no one who posts anyway) would be in a position to buy either or both of those attractions." not "No one on this site would be able to buy theses attractions.". The second quote is similar as I say "All I was saying was that I didn't think he would get much if any interest from a site that’s populated mainly by theme park enthusiasts not theme park operators." not "All I was saying was that I know you won't get interest as this site is entirely populated and read by enthusiasts not theme park operators.". As you can see there is a big difference in what I said and what you perceive me to have said. "The Bus is now leaving for Percivals Creek, Victoria"
  24. Can someone please tell me exactly where I said people from the industry do not visit this site? What I said was the vast majority of people on this site are enthusiasts. I know full well that people from the industry do read these forums, hell my ex operations manager and CEO read this site for a number of years. What I was getting at was that I think that there are more productive places to advertise these types of items, not that the information shouldn't be posted as it keeps us informed of what is going on. Just out of interest skypark how much genuine interest have you had as a direct result of you posting the information on this site 10 days ago? "The Bus is now leaving for Direct Action Bore, Northern Territory"
  25. I don't think my reply was too harsh. All I was saying was that I didn't think he would get much if any interest from a site that’s populated mainly by theme park enthusiasts not theme park operators. Yes it is good that he/she is willing for post that information here as it keeps us "in the loop" as to what is happening in the industry, but there are several websites that sell new and used rides and attractions and I think that is a much better place to advertise it (you may have already done so but I don't keep track of those sites). "The Bus is now leaving for Globe Derby Park Trotting Track, South Australia"
