  1. Yeah sorry about that I forgot to attach the files, it's fixed now. Maybe I did work there maybe I didn't. "The Bus is now leaving for Fixters Creek, Tasmania"
  2. These photos were taken in the week leading up to the parks closure. Have a close look at the state of the track on Beastie, and then tell me that it will re-open in a new location. beastie-backcurve.jpg - Taken from the Skyrider station. beastie-brakes.jpg - From behind the train. beastie-entrance.jpg - Entrance to Beastie. beastie-lift.jpg - Standing at the bottom of the Beastie lift. beastie-train.jpg - The Beastie train sitting in the emergency brakes before the station. bushbeast-backcurve.jpg - Standing under the Back Curve of Bush Beast. bushbeast-fancurve.jpg - Standing under the fan curve of Bush Beast. skyrider.jpg - Looking over the buildings in HB where the gondolas came into the station. skyrider-station.jpg - Some of Skyrider's gondola's in the HB station. zodiac-probe.jpg - Standing under Zodiac as it is lifting off. 3. Look out for new attraction(s) coming before the middle of 2005 to Sydney's Luna Park. I'm not sure of what the rides are yet but I’m sure everyone can guess what they are getting. "The Bus is now leaving for Gum Getters Point, NSW"
  4. Who pays $4 million for an apartment on the Harbour and doesn't complain? Hell, they even complain about the fireworks on NYE because it scares their little cutie-wootie poodles. "The Bus is now leaving for Million Range, NSW"
  5. Shortly after that park closed Merry-Go-Round and Baby Bumpers were dismantled and shipped to Malaysia. Merry was done almost straight away and Baby a couple of weeks after that. If anyone here goes to Malaysia DO NOT RIDE what was Dragons. The reason it was closed at Wonderland was because a major crack was discovered in steel of centre tower. The centre column was laying out the back of the Maintenance sheds from the time it was closed so I got to have a good look at it. The crack was about 20-30 cm long and from what I was told by maintenance personnel went all the way through the ride. It was found during an inspection and on further investigation (I think they had it x-rayed) showed how bad it was. As far as I know this is what they are using or are going to use in Malaysia. To fix it would mean replacing it, why would they bother it would be just as cheap to buy a new one. These two photos show what happened to Dragon and Taz. These were taken in the last few days of the parks operation and were taken in the back area of the park next to the maintenance sheds. Dragons.jpg - Shipping container with the majority of the internal ride structure, no including the main upright. Taz.jpg - The entire ride was sitting on the grass from the time it was closed. On the left of the photo there is a green tarp behind the blue tarp, under that is the centre of the ride. "The Bus is now leaving for Fixby, Queensland"
  6. The Merry-Go-Round was called Huckley Berry Hounds Merry-Go-Round, try saying that over and over and over and over again. Baby Bumpers was called Dino's Derby when it was up in HB. When they moved it down to Botany Bay the 'cars' were re-painted to red, green and blue. The reason Silly Sticks closed is because of cost, maintenance and personnel. It required minimum of 2 people per side (it had two), but optimally operated with 3 per side. That means that for it to be running at capacity it needed 6 staff, not exactly cost effective was it. 7. You would be surprised how many weddings there were at Wonderland. I was involved with one where the bridal party hired out the dodgem cars for an hour. I also know of another couple who did the same thing and several others who had their photos at the park, or the reception there, one couple went around on Bush Beast in their wedding outfits. "The Bus is now leaving for Wedding Bell Creek, NSW"
  8. Cool now we can watch the Carnies rip off the public and steal their first born child. "The Bus is now leaving for Rip Bank, Victoria"
  9. Finally someone has found where Wonderland went. Maybe they will re-name it 'Wodnerland' hey Shifty? "The Bus is now leaving for Wentworths Sugarloaf, NSW"
  10. I think you will find that they already have a toboggan, a speedslide and a freefall so I don't think they will want to get any of them. "The Bus is now leaving for Slide Creek, Tasmania"
  11. Demon was extremely noising, so noisy in fact that it caused 35-40% hearing loss in one operator and saw the introduction of ear plugs as standard PPE for operators. Demon was far noisier to the operator then any other coaster in Australia due to the fact that it came through the station at about 70 clicks with 28 people screaming their heads off and about 50 people in the queue doing the same thing. "The Bus is now leaving for Cottesloe School Of Impaired Hearing, Western Australia"
  12. Who cares if it is a Mondial or Huss or Intamin or whatever they all do exactly the same thing, the floor lowers, the ride swings and spins, the ride stops the floor raises and everyone gets off. What difference does it make as to who designed it? "The Bus is now leaving for Makers Creek, NSW"
  13. I don't like the Pay Station, I think parking should be free. "The Bus is now leaving for Riverbank Car Park, Victoria"
  14. That sounds remarkably like a ride I once knew. It was a probe that reached to space but I’m not sure what happened to it. "The Bus is now leaving for Sounds Rivulet, Tasmania"
  15. They can only make the train go so fast otherwise it would be going too fast for the inversions. Did you ever notice the two cylinders on lift 2? As the train gets to lift 2 those cylinders are about halfway up the train and when the train releases they are at the back of the train. The train obviously needs the same amount of momentum to go backwards as it does to go forwards. "The Bus is now leaving for Cylinder Head Point, NSW"
  16. If the lift chain was not there the train would get stuck either at the bottom of the loop or between the loop and the boomerang. As an ex-operator of Demon I had several experiences with the chain failing in several different ways, the most common being that the dog (the bit under the train that latches onto the chain) would break. The train would then roll down the lift and stop in the brakes at the bottom, because the e-stop was pressed. "The Bus is now leaving for Demon Hill Paddock, Northern Territory"
  17. No you didn't say that but you agreed with what scott said. If you had read my previous posts you would have understood that it was quite clear that it was not a person and that I had explained the photo several times. "The Bus is now leaving for Photo Bore Western Australia"
  18. Yes, with Snowy three quarters of the ride was left dry. "The Bus is now leaving for Dry Creek, NSW"
  19. Joz you are right about how the turntable worked, the wall on the far side of the boat moved at the same speed as the turntable and therefore stopped the boat from spinning. The steps on the boats still had to be lined up as it was coming into the turntable. The dock was only ever used as a unloading point in emergencies (as happened on the day of the Total Thrills visit) but may have been used as a regular unload point in the first year or so of operation when they had about 20 boats running, but unfortunately this did not last for very long. Alex you are wrong about the turntable being stopped due to capacity, the real reason was cutbacks on staff to save money. When the turntable was running they had 4 staff at the turntable, one to line the boat up and get the guests off, one to operate the ride, one to load guests and one to check everyone was in and had their seatbelts on before the boat left the loading area. There was also another 4 people around the trough one in each of the towers and one at dock to make sure no one got out there or fell in. When the turntable was removed they also put in 4 cameras around the trough so that cut back on the 4 staff. During non peak times there were only two people required to operate the ride, one to unload/load guests and the other to watch the cameras. During peak time this was increased to four sometime five people. The additional positions were unload, second load, and a grouper. "The Bus is now leaving for Wonderland Turntable, Victoria"
  20. I'm glad you haven't met anyone like me before. I'm a very unique person. I don't think it was that harsh as I was just having a go at what you said in this post: Think about it, if someone had died on the ride everyone would have heard about it a long time ago. 21. Yes that is a dumb idea. "The Bus is now leaving for White Water, NSW"
  22. My opinion of this is that it will fail. I'm not being cynical just realistic. Although it is in a fairly good position, on the main road from Sydney to Canberra/Melbourne it will not have enough infrastructure to support it. There have been major cutbacks that the current NSW state government has made to transport, particularly trains that will reduce the parks 'pulling' capability. A few years back there was a proposal to have a high speed train running from Melbourne to Brisbane with Canberra and Sydney as stops along the way, if this had been done then a stop at Goulburn would have been possible and would have assisted in the proposed parks growth. 23. It's ok Shifty I know what happened. I think it went like this: Shifty: In the back of the car. "I’m so bored" "Oh wait there's Wonderland" "Oh how I wish it was still open" "Hang on a minute. I just say the 'geysers' go off on Snowy, Ohh there goes Demon up the lift, Ohhhh Space Probe just dropped" Female voice: "Shifty, Shifty wake up" Shifty: "What? What? Where am I? Female voice: "It's Ok son you've just had a dream" "You need to get up and go and have a shower while I change you're sheets" Shifty: "Why?" Shifty's Mum: "You had a 'special' dream son" You must be joking. You haven't even finished school yet and you have a 'tight schedule'. Just wait until you have finished studying and get a real job then you will know what a 'tight schedule' is. Just think about this if you don't believe me. Your Mum and Dad both work. When they get home they have to feed you and any siblings you have. They have to take you to any extra activities you do, such as sport, music etc. They then get home and have other things to do. Not to mention anything they do for you in the morning. 'Tight schedule', grow up a bit then tell us what that is. "The Bus is now leaving for Turkey Dreaming, Northern Territory"
  24. Here is the story behind that. They actually have the shell of a plane at most airports (major ones anyway). The reason? Fire fighting training. They set the thing on fire and practice drills on it. They try to put out the fire and in some cases there have 'people' (for those with sub-par intelligence they are actually dummies) inside the cabin of the aircraft and the firies (fire-fighters) have to go in and rescue them. It's definitely not a piece of tacky theming (why an airport would theme its runway area is beyond me anyway) but a valuable piece of training equipment. 25. Unfortunately the truth here is that disciplinary action only takes place in a small number of safety breaches. Why? Due to the fact that probably 80 or 90% of safety breaches go un-reported. I know that at Wonderland there were many breaches that went un-disciplined because the supervisor was never told. You wouldn't believe some of the 'old school' operating procedure that happened at Wonderland. Fortunately in the last couple of years it was open there was a big crack down on operating procedures, but again things happened and went unreported and there for no punishment was handed out.
