  1. Here is the full article: "Lion cubs' keeper quits Wonderland The head of Wonderland Sydney's Wildlife Park has left the fun park over the lion cub debarcle. The gamekeeper's departure came after the 13-week-old cubs Masai and Mara were removed from the park 11 days ago, after it was discovered the operators did not have a licence to show them. Masai and Mara were returned to the private property of their Sydney owner. Patrons had been promised they could cuddle the cubs." 2. Does that steel coaster run through the wooden one? You can see the loop of it on the left hand side of the last two pictures. "The Bus is now picking up Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan (1971) President of the United Arab Emirates"
  3. Chippy can you please explain that last post. I have read it a few time and still can't understand it. "The Bus is now leaving for Twatt, Orkney Islands, Scotland"
  4. Hahahahaha. Shifty give up now while you are kind of ahead, your second post made just as much sense as the first... NONE! You have basically agreed with what Daniel has said by saying the train slowed but didn't stop. Daniel is right, if you had tried that argument with the police you would loose convincingly. Either it stops or doesn't. I looked at the video and it does slow down considerable but by no means comes to a stop. "The Bus is now leaving for Useless Loop, Western Australia"
  5. It's all good to say that Bush Beast should be re-tracked every year, but how long does this take? Could you imagine the response on this forum as well as the general public at the park if it was closed for a couple of months each year? We all know that the wooden coasters in North America are a lot smoother than the Australian ones but that is probably beacause a lot of the parks over there close down over winter therefore allowing much more work to be done on the rides every year. Even if a park does not close down over winter in North America they can still afford to have a coaster closed for a month or so due to the fact that people will still have the choice of about 5 or 6 other coasters (wooden and steel) to go on. 6. I just had a look on the Huss website and the information given for the Delirium shows that it does not go right over, nor does the Frisbee. Hope that helps. "The Bus is now leaving for Nauru"
  7. Are you serious? Did you even look at the website? If you had read it you would realise that there were three places in each category for each class of theme park. Wonderland came equal first in the Brochre category and there was only the first place, no second or third for the Print Advertisement category. Considering we here in Sydney do not see much advertising, I don't know how much they promote themselves interstate, I think this is a good achievement for Wonderland. Daniel, we are not going to have this argument again about how many people Wonderland gets in a year, but for them to get a million people a year that is an average daily attendance of just under 2800, not that far fetched regardless of how many people they get in the middle of winter. 13. rewinder, do you have any idea of how much land Wonderland still has, even after they sold the land for the business park? There is more than enough room to make the park absolutely huge. The only restriction they have is a height one caused by the proximity to Hoxton Park airport and the planned Badgerys Creek airport. The Beach will not get a sperate entrance due to a couple of reasons, one it is an outdoor, non-heated water park that closes in winter. The second is where would they put the entrance? On Wallgrove Rd with no car park? Or where LG is building there new factory? I think not. Now onto your spelling, you have to understand that there is a time and place for the type of 'spelling' you use and that is a chat room or instant messenger. This is a forum and it is expected that your posts can be read and understood by everyone. Where do you get your figures about Wonderland losing 3/4 of there customers, if this were true the park would not be open today. Less rides + less shops + less gardens = more profit. This means less staff to pay, less maintenance costs on rides/gardens/shops and did the entry price go down when this happened? No it didn't that means more money in the bank for Wonderland. So I would say that removing a ride or area of the park does mean a profit increase. If you have had a Wonderpass since you were five then tell me has the price increased or decreased? Yes Wonderland could put and new land in the car park, but what good would that do? Where are all the extra customers going to park? On Wallgrove Rd with the customers for the new Beach entrance? You are right, ending the contract with HB did not mean the closure of the area and didn't, it was several months before the land closed after the contract finished. PS. My next post is just for you rewind. "The Bus is now leaving for Hungry Mother State Park, Virginia, USA"
  14. Syd, what uniform where they wearing? If it was yellow shirts then it was probably 3 trainees, 1 trainer and the normal operator. Failing that someone might have thrown up on the ride and it was the cleaners there to clean it up? Daniel is right, they don't have to be new people to be trained on that ride. I know of several operators who have been there for a long time and are still not trained on everything. "The Bus is now leaving for Grosse Water Beach, in Newfoundland, Canada"
  15. Richard, you say that most rides have different load/unload points so do several rides at Wonderland i.e., Bounty's Revenge so what is the solution to this? Put loose articles on the unload side of the ride. As for loose articles being placed randomly, I think not, there is a specific place for loose articles at Demon and this is in an area where there is a low volume of staff traffic, that’s why there is the raised step. You will not find any ride operators or unloaders on the platform at Demon anymore and if they are they will not have a job for very long. I don't know the full story of what happened to Flea's camera, but for something like that the smart place to put it would be up against a wall or pole where people are less likely to walk, therefore reducing the chance of this happening. If every other park you have ever been to provide safe storage for belongings then why are we having this argument? If they have it use it. Now onto Daniel and Flea you both seem to think that using a foot to operate a ride is Ok, what about if something happened while the ride was starting and you had to hit the e-stop quickly. Flea said himself that the e-stop at Bush Beast was on the other side on the control panel. The difference between moving your hand from one side of the control panel to the other and taking you foot off and leaning forward to press the e-stop could be life and death. What a load of crap! You have about 2-3 minutes to do this while the train is doing its lap. Starting a ride with anything but your hand/fingers is stupid and could cause the death of people. 16. Talk about reading between the lines Richard! Did you read the next bit of that email, the part after the comma? There must be a place at most attractions to place belongings, I know at Wonderland there is, it's called the station at roller coasters or next to the operators booth at other rides. Yes I know that there is the issue of theft at all theme parks but for most attractions there is only one group of guests on each ride at a time. So that is not a big issue. Yes some attractions have multiple groups of guests on them at one time ie. Bush Beast with two trains, but there is always somewhere to put loose articles at a theme park. 17. You misread the question Hussy, What Flea was asking about the physical/mechanical damage to the ride not the aesthetic damage (what we saw in photos) Read the posts a bit closer next time will you. "The Bus is now leaving for Benin"
  18. Hussy, mate there is no need to get all fired up like that. But Daniel is right it is a stupid idea. If your plans to get a Rainbow and travel around with it come good, and I sincerely hope they do, you will understand that due to a little thing called public liability insurance you will not be able to afford to allow people to take cameras or any loose articles on to your ride. If you do you will be paying an exorbitant insurance premium each year and your dream will come crashing down around you. Sorry dude but this is reality, wake up and smell the coffee. If you want to work at a theme park why not try one closer to home? Luna Park maybe? "The Bus is now leaving for Silly, Belgium"
  19. I know a guy who is a engineer at MW and he said that most of the damage was aesthetic and that the damage to the electrical/mechanical/structure of the ride was very minor and fixed relatively easily. If the fire had been lower in the ride are it would of been a completely different story. Well DUH! Do you read any other part of this forum? There is a section dedicated to MW and it's got a whole thread about the fire. BTW: MW = Movie World Thread = Topic BTW = By The Way "The Bus is now leaving for Snodland, England"
  20. This is exactly why people get hurt. You are only thinking of your own safety, what about the people standing near the ride or walking past that cop a video camera the the back of the head? Are you willing to get sued and have to pay compensation to those people? I think not. "The Bus is now leaving for Libreville, capital of Gabon, with a population of 661,600 "
  21. At least when we go to the beach here in Sydney there is some surf and sand to play in. We can also swim at the beach all year round without freezing our 'cheeks' off. "The Bus is now leaving for No Name, Colorado, USA"

  23. I just got this email from Disneyland in response to an email asking if I could take a video camera on the rides there. Dear Vek Oma, Thank you for your e-mail to the Disneyland Resort. Video equipment and cameras are not forbidden from Disneyland Attractions, however for your safety, and the safety of others, most attractions require you to stow your personal belongings during the ride. Again, Vek, thank you for taking the time to write. We hope you will have the opportunity to visit the Disneyland Resort soon and trust your visit will be pleasant in all regards. Sincerely, James Thomas Disneyland Resort Guest Communications Notice how James says that for the safety of yourself and others belongings should be stowed while on the attractions. I think that says enough about loose articles on rides. If the leader in theme parks have this attitude why don't all parks?
