Dismantling started on doomsday destroyer

Marketing - Doomsday Destroyer <the Claw in it's place> resurrected, the dream has become a nightmare, the iconic flight of fear has arrived. -

@Baconjack Thanks. Purely an imagining, wouldn't it be tragic if they relocated it to somewhere else in the park - just to piss us off lol. Iconic re-imagined - Doomsday Resurrection. -

That was quick, happy days. Hopefully the fences come down soon so people can enjoy the precinct again. Did I miss something or was there never any announcement? (MW: Doomsday Destroyer, never heard of it, what's that?). If so, missed opportunity for marketing to lament how iconic it was. -

An official announcement would be nice, so we can feel confident to start celebrating lol. Doomsday Destroyed - that's a nice headline. Such a cool precinct, shame about the ride. -
^Good to know, it's a cool place for gigs. My partner and I went to Dream Circus and we absolutely hated it, couldn't wait for it to finish (she's total non-theme park person, so an okay sample space of perspectives). Hopefully most of the money was spent on the tech and not the production. Back to topic lol, anyone seen any movement with the Wild Mouse? Last time I checked, one piece of track was missing and there were no cars on site.

@Baconjack I agree with you big top is a cash cow for concerts / functions, so hopefully after the lull during covid they'd look to exploit that fully. Likewise, Crystal palace. Dream Circus was an admirable pivot, but it was absolutely abysmal IMO. I imagine the technology is there to utilise for other presentations, even integration into a corporate function. Not sure when they last had a concert there, but hopefully there'll be some gigs happening in the future. It will be interesting to see what the hospo people do. A vibrant dining/night-life scene combined with the existing amusement park might be good.

Wizard of Oz - Movie World Arkham Asylum Replacement
downunder replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
@themagician good points. I've been on Orkanen at Farup Sommerland which is the same model, and I agree - that was also pretty good and re-rideable. I'll be driving by the parks on monday on the way to Bris. So if I go, I'll have to choose between DW and MW (& convince my partner to go, she hates coasters). -

But which one is more iconic? Put a second sock in for that. Personally, if I had to choose, I'd take DW's coaster over the pretty standard ones at MW. But that's just my preference. -
Good to know it's at least running sometimes. I might swing by on Monday when I'm driving up to Bris if I get good reports about the chances of being open, and if the weather isn't hellacious.

What's the current betting market on a soft open? Before Christmas maybe, though maybe I should specify what year lol.

Disney Expanding Footprint Name In Australia
downunder replied to Chalky's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Lol I have a guy in my team at work who lives in Werribee in Victoria. My joke occasionally is : have they built Disneyland yet? News sites have a certain amount of space to fill with content, so they have their go-to pieces on slow days. -
I'm sure a lot of operators would have kicked the tyres to see what's what. Though it's not like when it's a real competitor where they do that to get a look at their books. Lol maybe Village could have relocated The Flash there.
-
Yeah I saw that in the news. I've been to Gronalund in Sweden which is a really good example of having vibrant hospo scene integrated with an amusement park. Will be interesting to see what happens, LPS appears to have partly given up on functions and events given the re-purposing of the big top and crystal palace. I guess things like Dream Circus (utterly excrebable) are expected to make more money.

I checked out Wild Mouse from Hair Raiser on Saturday. There's a straight piece of track missing on the station side turnaround before last set of drops. No trains out yet. Big difference between the front (much smoother) and back row (shaky) of Big Dipper.
-
Lol it's the Bog Dipper if you eat at the Hungry Horse on the other side.
-
Checked it out yesterday. No trains on yet. Saw a piece of the old track in the boneyard to the side of Big Dipper. Red train for Bog Dipper is in a highly dismantled state at the moment.

Kigngda Ka Permanent Closure - 11/11/2024

@STRAWS the drop on Giant Drop feels a lot faster than either of the 2 big boys. To me, Giant Drop is a world class ride. Love it.- 21 replies

The thing is that Giant Drop is a far better ride experience than Zumanjo or Lex Luthor in my opinion anyway. I got three sensational front row rides on Kingda Ka (and 41 on El Toro lol) last time I visited - two of those rides courtesy of the exit passes we got for a lift hill breakdown on El Toro (hitting that anti-rollback was spine snapping, I thought the lift hill cable broke).- 21 replies

Looking good, just renewed my season pass, hopefully the mouse will be up and running soon.

Kigngda Ka Permanent Closure - 11/11/2024
downunder replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
@franky it wouldn't surprise me if they look at chopping down Superman at SFMM too, can't be easy to maintain that. And then Giant Drop goes to #1, it's much better drop tower in any case imo. I was at Knott's in Sept and I had to laugh about Xcelerator. Even though I'm at Knott's every year (except '20 & '21), riding it I realised it was my first time since 2016 because it's been down so much. Thank you for the correction, I got seriously dyslexic on that lol. I guess we'll have to wait and see. My partner wants to go back to NYC, I'll tell her 2026 would be a good year to go lol (she hates coasters).- 21 replies

Kigngda Ka Permanent Closure - 11/11/2024
downunder replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The 2026 line was intriguing : record breaking multi launch coaster. It would not surprise me if they used the existing structure. It would surprise me if they went after records Falcon's Flight will soon hold - but it would be awesome if they did. They might just stick to North American records. There's been reports of S & S scoping out the site, but we'll see. I'd love to see a balls to the wall compressed air launch, but they're about as reliable as Axl Rose off his meds.- 21 replies

Luna Park Sydney's Wild Mouse appears to be fully re-assembled now and looks good. In other news, Halloscream sucked less this year (was absolutely abysmal last year and great in 2022).

Top Thrill Motocoaster 2 : Intamin's Revenge - with a top hat soaring over the Giant Drop, even Mick Doohan wouldn't be brave enough. In all seriousness, this is a big surprise. The words seem carefully chosen "new ride" - that will fuel intense speculation until IAAPA. I wonder if they're getting a new Intamin prototype disasterpiece. It might even be something really good.

Sea World Maintenance Schedule 2024
downunder replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sure enough the top story on news.com.au is : "Horror as people trapped on rollercoaster" Leviathan roller coaster, SeaWorld Gold Coast: People become stuck on trapped ride | news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site It just makes you laugh every time, I swear they have a list of words of which at least one should be used in every headline: horror, bombshell.... -
Luna Park Sydney has done similar, Halloscream was a strong event, and was absolutely great in 2022. They spent a fortune on the Shit Circus, I mean Dream Circus; and the 2023 was completely gutted, like pathetic, at the same prices. And it looks like more of the same this year. I echo the sentiment, if you're unhappy vote with your feet.
