  1. Oh, but have they? But why? Did Tower of Terror suddenly lose popularity when they reversed the train? Does Mick Doohan dispatch with empty seats in the unpopular rows? No & No. If the train was half and half, people who cared would choose, and people who didn't care would choose whichever queue was shorter, which would naturally even things out. Many coasters around the world either face backwards, or have backwards travelling elements - including scooby. I guarantee we will look back at this discussion in a few years, saying 'why did people make such a big deal out of it?' Personally I think the backwards facing is a great idea, but do wish they'd have added more than a single row. That look of Joker's face as you lay on your back flying down the first drop!
  2. Should have made both trains half and half. so on one train - the rear faces backward, the front faces forward the other - the rear faces forward, the front faces backward (*bonus element - you get to see the reactions of people across from you) this fixes the 'what happens when they only run one train' argument too.
  3. See, I thought that was a really good idea @Skeeta. Apparently the folks who built Tower of Terror, and Superman: Escape from Krypton also thought that turning the car around to give a backwards ride experience was a really good thing, but apparently we're all wrong, and
  4. I was thinking that, but then can't imagine the queue would be much more than the typical 'i'm waiting for the front seat' mentality - i do think in the first few months it will be mental. Personally, since we know there is at least (most likely precisely) two trains, i'd like to have seen them do one train all forward two backward, and the second train all backward, two forward...
  5. well technically it is a world's first non-inverting loop, in that it is one in which riders can go both forwards and backwards at the same time!
  6. Movie World: "But I want Pizza Hut" DC: "Pizza? Yuk! I want KFC!" Warner: "No Way! we're getting McDonald's" End Result - Collective Decision Making: "Fuck it - you can all have weetbix and like it"
  7. but they did say 'not pink'... I think the admin team here have jumped the gun. Closing the speculation thread means we can't now discuss the previous speculation within the same thread.
  8. As I understand it its being done the same way as the GL sign. We've heard previously the GL sign is actually a custom screen, so it could be animated \ altered. Looking at the joker face - the mouth part itself is a solid piece - which suggests to me a clever dick in the design department might just have plans to make the mouth move... You started it by pointing out flaws on a website (which is also not an English class). Are you pot, or kettle? And no, it isn't English class. Usually by the time you get to a point where you can navigate the internet unsupervised, you'd expect to have graduated from English class.
  9. Artistic license @Skeeta Just like the track without any cross ties here: http://cdn.newsapi.com.au/image/v1/25aa53b5ed1a2c079862776e16a4b2d1
  10. Wow, they've cut 11 days off the schedule since last week... Me thinks someone in site administration jumped the gun - this image is not there as at 11:53 EST.
  11. My first reaction was - wow, is he still active? checked his profile... nope. joined April 2004, last seen August 2005, and last reputation was May 2015!!! Talk about rising from the dead! I wonder where he got to these days...
  12. Great contribution @Aimsley81 and thoughts I fully support. Including: It sucks hard.
  13. I took 3 kids to Sea World two weeks ago - my son (18mths), my niece and my nephew (5&7). We spent most of our time in Nickland and had a ball. The animal exhibits took up the rest of our day. We didn't see a single show (mainly because the show times were really stupidly laid out), and we were out of the park by about 3. We skipped the monorail due to the wait time, got on Jet Rescue once, and rode nothing else and the three adults that visited still enjoyed the day. I'd suggest at this time that Sea World really is only suitable if you have kids that will enjoy Nickland, but it is well worth the trip if you do.
  14. Welcome! Its a nice quiet time, but really - with the behemoth that is the new Hypercoaster being so close to (but very unlikely to be) opening by then, in all honesty if you have the flexibility, i'd be planning dates for AFTER september holidays, for a chance to get on this beast. A trip in August - September likely wouldn't be much different to your trip in April - except for perhaps the weather.
  15. Further to the block ladder logic I posted above, heres some additional info on translating it: CRxxxx is a coil reference - which are outputs. INxxxx are inputs. So for example: this ladder logic says if coil 133 is on and input 41 is off and input 47 is on then turn on coil 129 a coil being a relay coil, relay contacts would switch the load, like the lift motor, air valve etc...
  16. I guess it depends on the age of the attraction, and the complexity of the ride control system, as well as what safety features are built into it as well. For example, this is the block ladder listing from a 1984 family woodie, operated by a westinghouse numa-logic PLC controller. Naturally more modern rides would have more modern features, and probably be driven by a lot more complicated systems as well - especially since they do much more than just roll, and coast these days. I'm not sure if he's still around, but at one stage, one of the forum members here was involved with the relocation of the boomerang from Wonderland to Alabama Adventure, and knew alot about both that at the SP7 (giant drop) ride systems. Can't remember who it was though...?
  17. At the risk of derailing the thread, and hoping that perhaps one of the mods might split this off separately.... The best source of info for SP7 is actually the Wonderland History group on facebook - find them here
  18. The only place it really counts puts Wonder Woman second behind Batman and Robin:
  19. Since it's maintenance period wraps up at the end of this week, I didn't see a point including it. it was deliberate.
