Although they are in the children's area of the park, many of the rides in Dreamworks are considered 'adult' tame rides - like the chair swings (Wonderland's Dragon's Flight was a bigger version of that, and most definitely NOT a kids ride). Rapids is tame. Log ride is tame.

Sorry @rac2703 - I only read @Brad2912's post, which didn't pluralise it. I couldn't see the image. That does make it mighty exciting, doesn't it?

I'm quietly confident that the park has the right people around to be able to do all you describe, and do it well.

Look I don't wanna speak for Rappa - but my read on his statement (and in his defence) I do believe there are overweight \ obese people out there who do legitimately have no ability to control or lose weight because of medical issues, thyroid problems etc. I didn't take what Rappa said to mean he was directing it towards those with medical problems. I took it to be those who don't have medical problems, those being deserving of such labels, rather than the other way around. I have witnessed people at the US parks who get around in scooters, who park their scooter, and then run down a queueline towards the ride. They're fat, and they're lazy. They get out and walk, and let the kids drive around in it just for fun. I've seen the same group go through a park using the disabled entrances - and on 4 different rides, there were 4 different people on the scooter... so they're using it as a queuejump tool rather than legitimately needing it. It IS a big problem over there where lazy assholes who just don't want to walk, whilst eating themselves stupid are king. This is the type of person I assumed Rappa was talking about when he made those comments, and at no time did I take it to mean anybody and everybody who was overweight \ obese.

If you consider Shockwave to be 'high up'... i mean the whole point of rides is to thrill you. If they were all low to the ground we'd have a park full of carousels! take a leap of faith and push your comfort zone - ride some big ones!
-
Whoa Whoa Whoa - let's not get carried away - theres a big difference between HUNDREDS of MILLIONS and just ONE HUNDRED MILLION. Consider the cost of some of our biggest rides are ~$20M and realise that - if a new park is on the cards, its going to be a really shitty one. Also consider that $100M spread across several properties - WnW, MW, SW, also possibly AOS, PC - if you gave them each $20M - the money would be gone, and each would equal one REALLY great attraction in each. I know that isn't likely - AOS and PC probably wouldn't share as equally as the other three, but for an example, you can see the money isn't stretching that far...

I prefer Wilder's version, but I guess the Depp version is more current, and easier to pull off

The press release said the store would be accessible both from inside and outside the park. Your suggestion wouldn't make it possible for the 'inside' aspect. its going to have to be somewhere on the fenceline... and the fairy shop would have made SOME sense (barring lockers\toilets).... I guess we'll have to keep a look out for survey markers and (wo)men with tape measures.

I'm trying to figure out whether belinda meant 'not much of a chance of him being forgiven' or 'not much of a chance of making the arcade a dollar'. personally, i'm thinking the first one is less likely than the second.... lol!

@grrofunger stated that last night

Yup - pretty much per the last two posts. http://www.news.com.au/world/north-america/alligator-drags-child-into-late-near-disneys-grand-floridian-resort--spa/news-story/fd2d0fcd5976673e8da05c754f84ad56

Gators are a fact of life in Florida. News reports showed images on TV last night of signs that warned people specifically of 'alligators' rather than just 'no swimming' The kid wasn't IN the water, rather was playing on the sand by the waters' edge The Gator grabbed the kid and dragged him INTO the water The body of the child has now been found One wonders how, with SO GOD DAMN FUCKING MANY things to do in Walt Disney World Resort, how they could have possibly run out of things to do that they decided playing in the sand beside a lake was the only thing left? Cue mass hunts throughout the lake systems to capture gators by the boat load now. Actually - Disney are unlikely to kneejerk that reaction without a lot of public pressure, so maybe not. I hope they don't. Its an eco system, man made or not, animals live there.

I agreed with everything else you said in that post - but this I just want to make one small point of dissent... first, i'm not arguing re the attendance. a. because i don't know it myself, and b. you're probably right. But in terms of drawcards - being from Sydney, growing up in an age where morning TV was Agro, not Kochie, where live pause didn't exist and you had to watch the ads, and particularly in a year where every second video cassette you hired from the video store carried (because it was distributed by VR) a pre-movie trailer consisting of the WWF ad in the post above^ - this is what drew me to \ made me want to visit the parks. TBH I never knew when DW got the tigers. Or were they just the babies and they had older ones already? I don't know. That year i was paying attention to media a lot more than prior years. I knew Dreamworld existed. I knew they had a double loop roller coaster. I didn't know much else about what they had (this was before you could google kids), and at the time, a "3 park super pass" was a much better value choice when on a gold coast holiday than a single park regular pass. I never got further north than Oxenford on holiday for that reason. So I take your point that the tigers were popular, especially for locals, but for an interstater - WWF was the big thing for me that year. As for the tigers.... what tigers? And before anyone argues with me - refer to "b." above re: attendance.

9. Why is the motocoaster still there? lol. But seriously - We need an 'official' rep from the parks here. I'm not saying they should weigh into every discussion, and clearly there are things that can't be discussed - but there are also very simple things that could be - like "we will eventually paint over the patch on the wipeout that was repaired" or "we're installing these rails on the rapids to improve safety and reduce instances of rafts entering the holding pond" etc or 'that new structure next to the new ride we're building will be a shop'. I totally get that things can't always be revealed, but it would be good to have a source for things than can be answered as many discussions here roll around in endless speculation for weeks when a quick question on facebook gets an answer in less than a day. I hope to see 'the original Belinda' on the boards soon...

I'd love to see that 'portal' idea so you don't see the area from outside, but I don't think it's plausible as it would be a massive choke point - not to mention showstage being within the area it needs to be able to cope with large crowds for that as well (when and or if it is used besides FN). I'd love it to be enclosed but i think its smarter - even just from a safety perspective - that they leave it open. The wristband thing is the best point about it and clearly they'll need somewhere to issue those - I do hope it's not 'just another shop' full of the same stuff, and there is actually a point of difference, or conversely, perhaps with a dedicated outlet, there is less of a need for DC stuff to proliferate throughout the generic outlets.

Luna Park Sydney confirms Tango Train closure
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Actually, nearmap images of those houses prior to the storm (only a MONTH prior) show there was a good 15 metres between the beach and the pool. In almost any approval process - 15 metres would be sufficient. Who would imagine the ocean would wash away FIFTEEN METRES of soil, grass and trees?
