Possibility of a Lego Movie ride at MW?
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to sam11's topic in Theme Park Discussion
yeah but it's kind of hard to retheme a giant yellow headed guy with horse-shoe hands for anything else. -
I think i'd prefer the 'dollywood supplied' POV put up by TPR, than some random bunch of women screaming and swearing their heads off about how it wasn't a kids ride.... does it LOOK like a fricken kids ride???

Possibility of a Lego Movie ride at MW?
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to sam11's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The original idea was for a mini cars movie world... keep the car driving idea, lose the mini-movieworld bit and instead make it that you're driving through lego-land - you can include all the different 'lego city' sets that you can buy inside it. Cross promote lego merchandise in the nearest shop. Sounds good to me. -
I don't know why but Scooby always seems to have a displayed wait time that is well above the actual wait time... such as displaying 45 minutes, but only being 15... The good thing about scooby is the queue is constantly moving because of the constant load, so it doesn't feel as slow as waiting for a full circuit coaster running only one train.

Lot 122 is likely to be picked up by Dreamworld.

^you missed JL3D - which relates to superheroes that feature across many films... And HWSD HWSD2 are loosely based around a story of 'filming a movie' and 'filming a trailer for a movie'

Why should the government pay for an upgrade to an interchange to benefit a commercial operation? Sure the population in the area has deemed it necessary, but projected it for 2022. if Westfield will wait that long (they won't) it will be built. Govt. wants it wholly funded - and why shouldn't they - big business will profit from the approval of the DA. If Westfield is already stumping up a portion (probably at least 50%) then there is money to be made... so skimming a little more off their profit margin, to benefit Ma & Pa Taxpayer having to foot the bill.... why shouldn't Westfield have to pay for the whole thing?

'Major transformation' implies the building will still exist in some form - Reef Diver would see it demolished entirely. On Reef Diver though - I don't think it would fit in the space.

It's not the first time a major developer has paid to upgrade the infrastructure in order to get approval. If Westfield wanted to sit around until 2022, the govt. would probably do it, but the 8 year wait would lose more money for westfield than they would lose by paying for it - it's government's way of getting private industry to put a little back in... The works will be completed to upgrade the interchange, the DA will be expanded to the full size of the plan, and everybody will win.

No mention of any dreamworld involvement here - but it seems to have finally gotten stage 1 approval... http://www.mygc.com.au/news/first-stage-of-coomera-town-centre-retail-development-given-go-ahead/

Will have to check the sunny coast's PDonline unless Gazza beats me to it to see if they've applied for anything - it would be a shame to lose the 'old world' look and architecture of the building but it is severely underutilised as it is. Whatever it is - good to see AW moving forward with not 1, but THREE new attractions at the same time. . . leaps and bounds for sure...

yep - the addition of the 've' is just to indicate that it is positive or negative, and not a mathematical instruction. Re: the western show, i've only seen it the once, but I found it filled with double entendres and innuendo, but nothing crude at a level children would understand - the point is - if everything is PC and PG, so it's suitable for all ages, most age groups won't enjoy the show - eg: the Looney Tunes shows like What's Up Rock or the Christmas special shows they've done in the past. Take a look at some of the more popular animations in recent times - Shrek and Kung Fu Panda - both of which are considered children's movies, but they contain many subtle (and not so subtle) jokes by Mike Myers and Jack Black - the point is that the humor keeps the adults amused, while the high-pitched voices of the animated animals keeps the kids occupied... Of course if they've changed the script since I saw it, and the innuendo is less subtle, perhaps it needs a review. Re: Sea World Resort - i've always seen it just as the old version of the Disneyland Hotel marketed as a 5 star, but treated like a 3 star, SWR is a natural place for families to stay while visiting the parks, but unfortunately, the park still charges like a 5 star. I was married at SWR, and feel like we got really good value for what we paid, but it isn't always the way. The best way to stay at SWR is on a special offer or lastminute.com style booking (or have someone else pay for it). I do however think they designed the presidential suites very well - but the rest of the resort needs a lift to the 'next level'.

"fish tank explodes".... Could the media get any more sensationalist?
-
Nope - you're definitely mistaken - AA was open early for gold holders immediately after its re-launch (they still had maintenance crew there to release the restraints when they didn't work). I'm pretty sure they cut the early entry off not long after that though.

Wait - this was from the Dippin Dots guy? Why didn't you say so! Now we know it's true!!!

^that said though, whilst i'm sure it's visible to the keen observer, there are few 'maintenance bays' that visibly come to mind in Disney parks... so just because it's a maintenance channel, doesn't mean they couldn't dress it up a little. -
Yeah - saying 'closed for safety reasons' is perfectly ok to me - doesn't cast the park in a negative light at all - in fact most parks worldwide use phrases like 'safety is our number 1 priority' so closing something 'for safety reasons' shows them following through. It implies their maintenance work has identified something and they are taking preventative measures to prevent it BECOMING a problem. Saying a safety ISSUE or a safety PROBLEM suggests to me an unexpected issue they didn't pick up due to lack of maintenance (thereby implying negativity toward the park). It's not like that hasn't been done before... ...

We all have a very bad habit of pouring shit on someone who tries to give a little info that they have without getting into trouble. I didn't understand 'staff safety reasons' until 'i know why gotham was closed' So it wasn't a 'i know something you don't know' - like any other employee of the park, they've said the same thing that would be in any media release "staff safety reasons" but can't divulge anything further. Now let's look at a few things here - Kujotess has previously been in discussions about interviewing for a job with theme parks. I'm not sure but I thought at some stage they had worked at movie world... it stands to reason they may just have a legitimate source, and have said 'staff safety reasons'. It is understandable that VRTP does not want the public to know that: a poorly run gas line could have potentially exploded at any minute an inadequate fire safety supressor system was malfunctioning over the grill any other serious safety hazard (which they have identified and are now fixing) But at least now we have a possible explanation that the reason GCC is closed, after only just recently being refurbished is because of a safety hazard in the new fitout which they need to rectify. Thanks Kujotess for sharing what you could.

...or they could go in four different directions across the carpark tarmac

...flat tyre?

Thats interesting. If you cast your mind back to the VIP Gold 'early entry' days, when 1 or 2 rides opened just for gold pass holders - i remember doing something between 8 and 13 cycles on Arkham. I never once stepped off the loading platform - although I did change seats... So op staff only checked my harness, and the one i'd just vacated... no gates or re-queue needed.
-
Don't worry about the awkwardness. Trust me - it ABSOLUTELY MAKES your day. The thing to remember is - you're in a foreign country. Nobody knows who you are. You're newlyweds... and the recognition you get from the cast members is great (although it's not a given, cast members will go that extra mile to make your day better wherever they can) ......gotta catch 'em all......

Sea World - No Entry train crossing

Coming soon to the garden on the right..... MORE WIRES!!! -
LMFAO... I did totally know that, but obviously slipped my mind... the moment you said it I was like - 'of course!'. Well - the stairs truck might break down...
-
I'm not saying that it isn't possible, but any time we've done a re-ride, the operator has required the harnesses to be released, and then relocked. Any ride ops or former ride ops (spotty i'm looking at you) confirm this? Is it possible (is it procedure...) to re-cycle without the harness unlocking?
