  1. Yeah - i've noted it before, but it's been there a while at this point so not really anything worth writing about... If it's still there now, then it's officially been there for more than a year (it wasn't there in August 2021)
  2. And a poor cast member stood under an umbrella with a book of wristbands and a mobile eftpos terminal.
  3. I'm not going to edit your quote, as it is against the rules, but if I may paraphrase your reply below: simple hold on tight, I've been on some river rapids rides, and I've never fallen out. I game enough to put money on the fact that he responsible. Thousands of people would ride those rapids every year. If it were a design issue one would expect people to fall out of Thunder River Rapids more often. Not just now. Nobody realises an issue until an issue occurs. I'm not saying you're wrong about it being rider error, i'm just saying that your line of thinking "i've never fallen out so it must be his fault" is flawed - you could just be really lucky. With that said, I feel as though these guys may have been goofing around.
  4. It's a moneymaker. I doubt they're delaying it unless there is a mechanical reason for it (and since we can see it running, there doesn't appear to be any mechanical reason). It is possible the seat forces have tested out of tolerance and they're working on getting it fixed, but i'd find that extremely unlikely. My guess is that they're just focussed on getting word out that its opening and they decided focussing their marketing on an upcharge feature only available to less than 10% of riders is probably not well spent at this time.
  5. Doesn't even remotely resemble the old one, and a B&M would probably bankrupt them. Like - go ahead and install an intamin twin hammer and call it Eureka Mountain Mine Ride too, yeah?
  6. Flyers has always had the cyclone fencing, but I do believe the camo netting is new.
  7. @Gazza's Nearmap updates of Victoria prompted me to check out the GC and there have been a few updates - so here's a bit of an image dump: Marvin ride construction zone (Oct 26): Fright Nights Maze and queue races (October 26) Not exactly theme park but the below is up behind the studios \ outback on the road to Paradise Country. This paddock was used a few years ago for the Asgard set for one of the Thor movies. The 'parking area' wasn't there a year ago and was a greenfields site, but the several rows of items around the edge of the boundary fence are new since august. I've no idea what they are (I assume they're production set pieces for filming), they aren't all the same shape or size, but I can't get any better read on what it is without visiting on site... anyone have any ideas? Leviathan and Trident sites - this image is directly overhead and shows some of the pathways \ thoroughfares in and around Atlantis. Former Arkham \ Future Wizard of Oz land Didn't have a lot of time to explore so that's it for this update, but if I find anymore major changes i'll be sure to update...
  8. Interesting point. I'd make the uneducated assumption that the winch drives would have operating ranges that would allow for the heat generated from operations that would far exceed ambient. In that regard though... being that far up delivers some pretty awesome airflow!
  9. It could, or could it be just the first ring of the overall big funnel? The bottom of Green Room measures "around" 10 metres across. This red ring measures similarly. Could they be building the funnel from smallest to largest, and this is just the first?
  10. Technically yes, but practically, no. Heat transfers through radiation and convection. Black or dark coloured objects are going to absorb more heat and therefore radiate more heat than polished or lighter colours, but most heat transfer is through convection so the practical differences aren't too far apart. You could definitely measure the differences in a lab, but if you walk into an unventilated steel box painted white or black on a 40 degree day, the assessment is 'its f**king hot' regardless of what colour it is. I tell you, it sure is a good thing they have air conditioners.
  11. As far as visibility goes, i think this is the better option. We also don't know what they're planning with the theme - perhaps black and yellow feature prominently? some sort of construction tower theme?
  12. New extension of Looney Tunes Village to Sea World confirmed. Introducing.... THE TWIDENT!
  13. Don't you DARE! 🤣 Whenever I hear Jungle Rush I think of the temple run knockoff game Jungle Run
  14. SOMEone is gonna have to - otherwise who is going to post it everywhere? If you can't visit at the drop of a hat and you don't want to waste a visit, then the same advice given regularly applies - wait until the park's posted open date for your best chance (and even then, new rides can hiccup. if you can't visit regularly, wait until it gets through it's first season and let things quieten down)
  15. 'new attractions each year' - provided we're not word playing "attractions" to include things like Trolls village, i think this is on the money. A new ride every year - even if its new flats, sure beats the one every 7 years or so down the road. having something new is key to bring people back, and its a great pathway to attendance recovery
  16. So basically your plan is to clone half of the gold coast? I wouldn't think they'd want to pick up an Alibaba carousel anymore than i'd want to ride one, but a nice carousel from a reputable manufacturer is kind of a staple you need to have to grow really. I'm gonna skip 2 & 3 (i'm sure more original ideas are out there) but as for "forest flythrough" - i'd love to see someone do a Setpoint SwingThing coaster down under, but with a longer layout. those things are super fun, with a low rider height requirement.
  17. I tried searching several of these symbols and the Cityrail logo showed up more than once!
  18. This doesn't match any "atlantean" alphabet, but the repeated symbols beginning and end lead me to believe this says "TRIDENT" I wonder if they have a full alphabet for some easter eggs around the land like the Indiana Jones ride or if this is just a standalone detail for the ride's archwork.
  19. Like all developments outside those expected based on surroundings (ie - a house being built in a residential neighbourhood), opportunity should be given for impacted parties to comment on the proposal. This doesn't mean you have to agree with their objections (I don't), but to permit a developer unrestrained opportunity to simply do as they please without regard to local planning and sentiment is a slippery slope. I feel as though this latest proposal has taken into account several of the previous proposal's flaws - including being so tall so close to the highway. By placing it closer to the park the setback permits the height so its unlikely the council is going to have an issue with it (or at least, as much of an issue).
  20. I heard the refurbishment was being done by Mack once they finish with Scenic Railway.
  21. Disney and Universal respond to each other within a space of hours or days. Not a year. Just in case it wasn't clear:
