  1. lol. To the guy that has 3 different IASW versions on his iPhone, and frequently listens to music from the park - that's not really a challenge... SFMM - Apocalypse and Colossus were both doing just fine in 2013. I've ridden Ghostrider, and whilst it was jarringly totally out of control, there was no 'ow make it stop make it stop' to speak of - just one big holy shit that was awesome at the end. I've never ridden Gwazi but by all accounts it was not enjoyable.
  2. Kids these days... A little out on your math there - it wouldn't have operated on several days (mostly Christmas) each year, plus annual maintenance downtime etc...
  3. ^lol. I see what he's saying - there is parking indicated on the concept art, and there is only about 25 spots marked out. I haven't looked at the ACTUAL plans, but the concept doesn't appear to show a ramp or any other suggestion that there is underground parking - although I would assume like most highrises, there would be.
  4. Thanks for the detail. I'm sure others appreciated it too. Surely a 100 year old anything needs more attention paid to it than a 1 year old anything. You're painting these machines as infallible and indestructible when they aren't. Metal fatigue and thermo-mechanical fatigue are surely more likely after 100 years of exposure to constant firing and cooling cycles than 6 months after rolling out of the factory. WorldFun agrees that there are differences, albeit small ones. The fact that they exist are sufficient to prove what i'm saying - it will take longer \ more care is needed to ensure close attention is paid to high risk elements.
  5. ...like what? You criticise all the coasters, including when a new one is announced (before you even know what it is) and yet the most pathetic and lacklustre coaster we have "has something more to it than just being a coaster" ??? Please tell us all what this magical ingredient is - it's neither dark, nor heavily themed, nor walkable, and it has one too many rails... SM will always be my favourite. I do however consider your views on Small World to be borderline blasphemy.
  6. You're living in Dreamworld? Perhaps you should invite AndrewH to come and share a room?
  7. That article is TWO years old @T-bone I really hope that they misquoted him though, when they said he planned on visiting the Disneyland in Malaysia...
  8. Looking closely, it looks like the two images are feathered together - the green belonging to the right image, and the red a continuation of the left image (as the distance between poles on the left matches for the glass panels to be the same length). It's an artists rendition, so no doubt the artist has just left it in when it should have been taken out.... (I see an arrow in the blue "water" suggesting these renditions have been taken from other products, and perhaps channel 7 has botched it instead...
  9. I blame @POP and @pushbutton - because reasons. I think the two areas - as @T-bone suggested would be the adult enclosure - the area we all have seen, and the cub area - which would be the small enclosure up near the lair where they used to have the (previous) cubs a while back (which is a pretty bare spot)... so it's two areas, both existing, both getting revamped. What poles are you talking about? it looks right to me?
  10. You're suggesting that parks that are open year round are somehow lacking in their ability to do maintenance on their rides, and they are therefore of a lower standard than parks that only open seasonally? That's dangerous ground you're walking on...
  11. I don't have access to my construction administrator today (she's trying to catch up on sleep) so i'll defer to @skeetafly for this one. In other news, the link you've posted is an address in PIMPAMA for a HOUSE.
  12. Have to say - Bush Beast, although it was "rough" it was nowhere near the "Please make it stop" phase after 19 years of operation - and it operated year round for many years... so I don't give weight to the argument that year-round operations and woodies don't mix. I think it's just the case of original design & build, climate, weather, and maintenance.
  13. That's not a silly little thing.... that's quite a large and highly intricate thing.
  14. It says so right on the application: Decision APPROVED (29/10/2015) - DELEGATED AUTH DECISION So that's a yes. (I realise the real question is whether VRTP is going ahead with the development, but really, the first indications we'll have for that will be survey pegs and bulldozers....)
  15. What you're forgetting is that we as Australians generally suffix 'O' onto most things - like Davo, Bottlo, etc... So "REBAR" is short for REINFORCING BAR but, in Australia, "REO" is short to "REBAR" Saying "REO BAR" is like saying "Dunny Toilet"... its redundant.
  16. I think somewhere it was posted that the Maze itself would remain, with plans for it to reopen afterwards. I'd suggest then they're unlikely to be cutting into that part - although the briefing room and exit room will probably get utilised. What a wicked storage room for the retail staff to work out of though!
  17. That's just it though - there is pretty much nothing between AA and AOS to block the sound, and it would carry across open ground fairly well. Most places 'in park' you can't even tell if it's running unless you can see it.
  18. Sounds like Wondrous book was the exact same show, sans Oscars Awards theming - Golden Mickeys was the same, except the story\songs performed were the ones 'nominated' for an award. Golden Mickeys didn't sound promising, and it was disheartening to realise all the words were in Chinese, but once we got past that initial shock, it was worth seeing, even with subtitles. As for Vinylmation - yeah I saw them in California in 2013, and it seems Americans love them. Personally I don't... Hong Kong is instead very big on Pin Trading - something for which i've become quite addicted.
  19. @Santa07 - it depends on what you're comparing it to. For me, considering 'noisy lift hills' - My first thought goes to pretty much any old school wooden coaster with the constant clack clack clack of the chain dogs and other mechanical safeguards kicking in. Compared to that, Arkham is quiet as a mouse.
  20. @POP is going to be so upset your post is right-aligned. as T-Bone posted in an earlier update - there is a wooden frame being erected over Kevil's facade - so they're clearly planning on covering it up.
  21. @The Sunlander - I explained in greater detail above - click the "reveal hidden contents" on my post. In short, whilst I understand that with the same fire, a head of steam will be reached at roughly the same time, it is all the OTHER daily maintenance tasks, ones that you have to play more attention to the older something gets. In short - you generally wouldn't need to check for grinds in your transmission fluid the day it rolled out of the dealership... but 50 years on, you most definitely would... Obviously, this is a car comparison, and I realise a loco is different, but in the scheme of things, a new loco off the factory floor that had been run in could generally be trusted to be in better condition, and therefore need a more casual morning inspection before actually lighting the fire than one that was 100 years old.
  22. Yep, sounds pretty much spot on with everything there. The park is still lacking substance "per area" but overall i think it does have enough 'overall' to satisfy a day-guest. I assume Wondrous Book was in storybook theatre, and therefore is a new replacement show to the 'Golden Mickeys'... Golden Mickeys was an 'oscars style' awards show with performances - how did the new one differ? In 2009\10, they offered full range of ear hats. Last year less, but still there. They didn't do millinery (name embroidery) like in California though... I guess they've just fazed it out as the chinese seem to prefer the headband style. They did sell the 'paint the night' ear hats and paint brushes back in April last year (paint the night ear hats are "glow with the show") but they must have ditched them. I must remember of course too that the retail emporium has had a massive renovation since I was there in April also.
