  1. But the rides closed first, so wouldn't make sense to do what rides you can before they are shut off and then do the mazes, otherwise you will get the mazes done and have the rides closed and end up going home. Also I never complained about wait times, I was thankful about the times I got and you really should experience some of these rides after dark, it adds a different dimension. I did out of three of the mazes two of them, I could have done the third but we were tired and went home. I've seen the Moto cross shows every year at the EKKA and I didn't know what was going on in Shrek and then there was a Laser skirmish Zombie Kill Zone, which I was told you had to pay. I said I thought the themeing in the place was really cool, although I didn't take photo not having a camera, but lacked actors to scare you, especially in mainstreet and the mazes and was the main reason for not doing the third maze! Now I hope it was because it was just the first night and later on more actors will be added because it looked like there were plenty of times for someone to pop out! Another thing I forgot was there were a couple of photo op places were you could stick head through and have a skeleton body, you know those sort of things. So yeah everyone should really experience a night like this adds a whole new dimension to the park and yes do rides first and mazes second or your left with nothing else and going home early.
  2. Well I went last night, I was very impressed with the event, the decorations around the park looked awesomeespecially the roof with the lighting rigs everywhere and the entry archway was pretty cool. There was fog everywhere and coloured lights lit up everything, trees and buildings etc. with red and blue and green lights giving it that spooky feel. My one bummer for the night rides not bieng able to run till 11 (damn residents the park was there first) and the lack of actors. I started off being there at 6 and we went straight for superman, just before going inside we saw it run with no people, then it ran with people and literally stopped at the top for at least 30secs before continuing on. We walked over just after that run to find it was experiencing difficulties and could be shut for 30mins to the rest of the night. BTW good way to completely clear out a que, so we went to LW, we got on pretty quick 10mins maybe a little more. It was my first time on it, got to say I loved it and didn't have a problem about getting a headache, but it was no where near as smooth as SE. They only had one train running as well, so that made things a little slow and in the end when we left the que was massive! We walked back over to SE to see a huge line as they were reopening, we already had a locker and went to get stuff when we realised no one was walking in they were just standing there and staff were yelling out if you had removed all loose items and weren't waiting on someone just come through, no one was responding to this, so we walked straight up told them we were all good and they let us through so it was only 20min - 30min wait. they were also running the two trains, so the line moved really quickly. Next we did WWF while the que seemed to be a fair size it moved really quick and once again 15min - 30min wait, it was great to do this at night and was a great way to cool off, it was soo hot and we got completely drenched. Although all the lights were on full bright when going throught the scenes, some fog and different coloured lighting would have made it way cooler and all the house lights were on, on the backwards drop so it wasn't dark like normal. Batwing was next and the que was massive, spilling outside, and 2 people in our group had never done it before so we lined up anyway. As we did they closed off the line behind us, so we were the literally the last ride of the night on Batwing. I felt so sorry for the staff the amount of rubbish they had to put up with from guests was so annoying because they had closed the ride, I mean they were only doing their job it wasn't their fault. Then a group jumped the fence and went in front of us so they wouldn't get caught Then proceeded to light up cigarettes, staff hadn't noticed them jump but they got them to put out their smokes, thank god. But it was funny to watch others try and jump and one person just refused to move and the lady turned around with the biggest grin and said "You can line up here for an hour and a half, but when you get to the front I can assure you I will not let you on. So I think its best you go somewhere else." We didn't bother with Batman Adventure or Scooby, mainly because of the massive que and it was shut off when we went to go to it. Shrek was also turned into a haunt maze or scary movie or something like that, anyone know? Also we didn't bother with the moto show or the show in mainstreet. We then hit up maze down the LW alley, there was a lady out the front with snake which looked pretty cool, and the maze looked great to, but it really lacked in actors, it built it up to nothing. The sign in the front warned of real snakes in there, but we didn't see one. All we saw was one actor who flashed a light at us which did make me jump. But was it other than black walls and to many strobe lights! So then we did Bedlam Manor, it was incredibly funny for me there were way more actors in there but all they did was sit in there rooms and stare at you, which meant I had great chats to them and just got an evil stare back, there was a room done up like the Addams Family with Mortisha in it and I told her how much I loved the show and miss and wish it would come back, stupid stuff like that, till eventually she just smiled at me. Or there was another guy who I talked to but he thought he would scary by hissing at me, to which I just hissed back, I don't he expected it, but I had fun. I didn't do the Fun House or Zombie Kill Zone, but really the mazes were poor. I went to halloween night the first year and the maze/scare zone was so much better and really it had nothing on The Mummy or Nightmare, which from Movieworld really was what I was expecting. Same with mainstreet there were a few actors out there, but no enough, I was expecting lots of actors dressed up just wandering, The addams family, Scooby Doo and Batman and their enemies should have been there just more people to add more atmosphere. There were plenty of staff, like I saw so many staff just walking around mainstreet with their cast shirts and walkie talkies but not enough actors! Not like how I remember or imagine. Also I loved how all the staff had make up on and bullet wound and their uniforms torn and coveres in blood and what looked like flour, nice touch. For $10 I thought it was great value and I had heaps of fun, I want to get the $10 ticket again for next week and do everything I missed. For those who remember me saying how I had did SE and escape before and couldn't breath and just needed courage to just get up and do them, well I did and I loved it!
  3. Yea the smell was there as well last night, It became really strong everytime the smoke mahine in the drain near the cafe started, it really smelled.
  4. Westfield own the most amount of realestate in the world, so whats the difference between the 20mins between each other, They also own 40% of Pacific Fair. But when building Helensvale they had much bigger bolder plans for it, but were knocked back. That big lot of land sitting next to the Woolworths there is Westfields, now if they were shareholders, why would the council stop that? Woolworths and Coles together control 80% of the supermarket industry, what does the ACCC do about that? Now I really hope we see a classy well thought out centre which that part of the coast really needs DJ's and Myers and such. But I reall don't want to see something tacky and yea it would be great to connect to Dreamworld and have like a city walk and for Dreamworld Resort out there, but with no great views out there I'm guessing something bush where outside you have Australian Wildlife. Kinda like Disnet african hotel. And with DW recents fallings again, I hope it becomes a wake up call to start doing things right and please the customer and the money will follow instead of the other way around. They have got a perfect oppourtunity while WVTP continue there trend to gain market dominance.
  5. Heard this was in The Bulletin sometime during the week, so if its correct tell me cause I didn't read it. But Wet'n'Wild is appently demolishing ALL BBQ's at the park that so many people use to use for picnics or big sporting groups. Once again to try and make a quick buck, if this goes through I put money on it they we say goodbye to the big groups and the parks oncew great attendance records fall dramatically.
  6. I think the penguins down at the Melbourne aquariam are actually WVTP's or there just the penguins SW wanted.
  7. New executive, I'd been told JSM was no longer CEO, but I didn't know anyone announced it. I feel so sorry for him, everything he must be watching disappearing in front of him that he built up. But that's thing with new CEO's they think they know better and want to mark there mark on the company, obviously this one isn't making the greatest. I mean look at Woolworths, new CEO, new logo and new look store and marketing. CEO has to be different and while I'm not saying its bad, why do they have to be so full of themeselves to change everything, thinking they know better. If something's broken, its making a ton of money and has great customer satisfaction, why change it??? Last I heard the dugong building was being looked at for something like the King Penguin, which smart guy decided gutting the star attraction was the best option rather then the empty building???
  8. ^ Which two parks are we talking about? Also are we just going to start adding attractions on a budget so we can keep adding them every year, because its alot of money to do that and I don't want to see theming drop any further than they are now. Now yes people could go outside the park and eat their lunch, but the fact is they shouldn't have to. Their should be a picnic area in the park for such people who want to bring a picnic, and why not they can be really nice things and just add to that day in which people will want to come back to that park and not go somewhere else and will want to go back sooner. Now inter state travellers someone said will just put up with this for just the one day. Yes, you hit the nail on the head for just ONE day, if they feel they have been ripped off and have a bad taste in their mouth at the end of the day don't expect to see them at the park next time they return, they'll try a different park. People with passes will buy bare miniumum food, leave the park or eventually go "oh well, its just too hard and too expensive now. I got my moneys worth, I won't go back again!" If management thinks they can let everything fall behind in standards and let that magic disappear, as somewhere people come to the parks to escape realism is right. That's how parks should be run, because putting someone in this fantasy world will make a lot of money out of it (look at Disney, they have the perfect business model, why some companies don't follow it and some CEO's ideas of how to run a business is beyond me and makes me wonder how in the world did they get the top job?) But anyway if they standards can fall and putting new rides in every year with poor theming every year will work... Look at Six Flags... Its in bankruptcy, that's how good that business model is and its the one Aussie themepark owner's seem to be following and its bad move, but no one seems to see it and I just don't understand why! (excuse any bad typing I'm in a rush, and got a lot to say)
  9. Look as if the park will be re-branded as WnW and also an interesting on WVTP interests in the waterpark http://www.amusementtoday.com/waterparks.html bottom article
  10. ^ yea but isnt the helicopter leasd out to a company that has dozens of choppers? Thats why there is consistantly a different chopper there. I feel sorry for the people who load and unload the chopper the person would have been watching it come into land, fail, then crash.
  11. It did happen, happened a long time, but yes happened. If I remember crashed just before landing, I can't really remember the cause but I think it was something like malfunction would explain as to why Bell helicopter had the lawsuit against it link here http://www.wisner-law.com/attorneys.html only one i could find or something like a heart attack, all five people died and I think it may have been the pilots family with him, unsure though.
  12. There were a lot of helicopters after the crash: 7, 9 and 10 were all there as well as a helitours and what looked to be like a RACQ careflight and another one later as I was leaving the area near by. So the sky's were busy after it happened and funnily enough when it happended I was outside but never the helicopter. The good thing though is that no one was injured and we didn't see a crash like the Sea World one many years ago were everyone perished, very sad, but very lucky for these tourists.
  13. This was eventually going to come sometime, I loved the ski show especially before the jet ski accident, for me, I think that was when it was at part of its peak after that I just dont think it was really the same, although i did really like the 60's gold coast theme they took on it, however was not the best show they ever did. It kind of showed to because I watched people were not interested in it, they would get up and walk off or just start talking. I would love to still see skiing as part of the show, but you could add more to it, not just make it all about the skiing and by the sounds of things that is what they are doing. One thing I would like to see them do is something like Waterworld at Universal; if the show was a little something like that I think it would be awesome. Also that lake takes up a lot of land for one show and seaworld doesn't have a lot of land left. I wouldn't be surprised if one day that lake is filled in, although I hope it isn't.
  14. Please someone correct me if I am wrong isn't the train one of the original rides there from day one??? If they are completeing scraping the train line thats really depressing as Sea World loses a large part of its history; and its last remaining original ride?
  15. Well lets just hope they don't adopt the car park fee that the Arizona park will have of $5. Also 30 rides as a starting line up is pretty impressive, that's nearly as many as our park.
  16. The fountain at the front gate is working again??? if it is that's great, I've missed it for so long, I'm glad then the boats are gone they looked really tacky. That fountain used to give a great atmosphere, like the MW fountain. Does anyone have the photos of it. Now all the need is to give motocoaster some work, replace the mine ride and get rid of the tacky colours, then it can only go up. Looks like Macquarie made a good choice with the new CEO
  17. The space shot ride in Universal is done very well from what I have heard, its got a lot of theming and seems to have preshow. I think soemthing like this would just give it a better atmosphere.
  18. By the looks of the photo's and what everyone else has said of theming it looks as though this may become a focus for Dreamworld again and as someone said retheming on some of the rides such as TOT if the re-furbished to higher standard similar to this that everyone is talking about it would seem they are on the right path again. As long as they keep adding rides and attractions that fit the area and that if they are thrill rides they actually are thrilling and no bright goudy colours that fade quickly. On the side with the corkscrew now being bright orange who else thinks it will fade quickly???
  19. It is so hard to rank them in order from best to worst because they are all great rides. Same problem I had.
  20. There is a backwards car, it wasn't in the show from the beggining becuase they were still practising with it. I havn't seen it, but from the sounds of things it is now in the show. Is there anything else in the show that's new, I'm just interested like script improvements and not the same stunts because if that's done then it will becoming even better.
  21. 1. SuperMan Escape 2. Scooby-Doo Spooky Escape 3. The Claw 4. Jet Rescue 5. Wild West Falls 6. Tower of Terror 7. lethal Weapon 8. Batwing 9. Wipe out 10. Giant Drop (forgot about this one which really should be higher, just cant be bothered) I really like most of the rides, each one offers a different experience and I have different stories and great experiences from each one, which makes unique and special at each one. There's the others like, Bermuda Triangle, and Looney Tunes River Ride.
  22. SW is one of the best theme parks around and I feel much better it is than that of the US version's. SW prides itself on censervation and its animal's. It's animals are there to promote conservation every exhibit, every show tells you the sad side of these animals and what humans are doing to them. Not only that their enclosures are so much better than the US, they are designed to be of natural habitat for the animal's, just look at Dolphin Cove, Polar Bear Shores, Shark Bay. They could have just built a tank, like the US, NO! I know for a fact their CEO John Menzies cares deeply about animals and just loves them, so I don't see him putting them in poor conditions and you only have to look at Trevor Long to know he wouldn't be working their if he wasn't!!! It really annoys when people go around saying things like that. Just like when the green's always protest about SW, but who do they first call when a marine animal is in danger? Look whatthey did to Pig the dugong, months later he was found nearly dead. Polar Bear shores has been rated one the best exhibits in the world, and its the reason we got Hudson and Nelson. Shark Bay - largest shark tank in the world and Dolphin Cove comes in close. Planet SOS enough said. And if you get bored with a full day at SW because there's not enough to do, then you must have a short attention span. Their animals you will probably never see in the wild, they are beautiful, they are just majestic and some have excellent characters. Go back to a exhibit three times a day, such as Polar Bear shores and there will be a different bear out and they are always doing something different. By the time you do all the rides, shows, exhibits re rides and re exhibits your days done. And as for the fact of SW being shut in ten years, its been there for what? Around 37 years now and its still going strong and survived through everything. I highly doubt it. SW is also not over-priced, the up keep of exhibits and shows and rides and look of the park is very expensive so its about what it should, in line with the rest of GC parks. So for what SW does, it does very, very well. It looks much better than what DW does. And as a word of advice, its never the best idea to call someone very high on the board a retard!!!
  23. That article also made it onto a American theme park based site, Roller Coaster Pro http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/index.php?...&ucat=&
  24. The thing is, we think that they are taking a nose-dive in lack of theming and cut backs. But general public won't, fair enough about long lines. But theming, character's, and all that stuff the general public don't see or care. Dreamworld customer's didn't see how bad or ugly it was becoming they just saw rides and that's all they cared about. Unfortunatly I think that's what there doing. Hoping the general public won't see and the truth is they probably won't and will therefore continue what they are doing. Depressing I know, but they can get away with it. Look at the chain stores, they gained market control, stopped doing refurbs, quality in fresh foods went down and slowly prices went up. But the general public didn't notice and therefore they could continue to do it and get away with what they were doing.
  25. Not only that WWF was built back in 1999 for 21 million. So a B&M is something we can afford. And why do we need a huge one anyway?
