Ricks Cafe - getting an update?
MaxxTheMonster replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You used to (way back) be able to book a breakfast withe the stars and it was in that building. They then moved to a kids morning breakfast stage performance, and also used it for a small christmas stage performance. Hopefully after they move Rick's back this building can be used as an outlet again instead of sitting unused for a lot of the year. -
Ricks Cafe - getting an update?
MaxxTheMonster replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I can tell you from information I received that it is only closed for refurbishment with the buffet having moved to the All Star Cafe until completed. I have eaten there before and personally found it well worth the price. However the price does put it outside the amount I would pay everytime I attended the park. -
Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
MaxxTheMonster replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The seats and restraints are very comfortable at the start... by the inline twists I have the same issue with pain in my legs and have trouble walking off the ride at the end. I also would personally would rather the head banging which could be dealt with by pressing your head to one side. -

The company I work for was rebranded a year ago with all website and promotional stuff taking our new logo... They are rebranding again this year and we still have the original signage and logos on our building as does our other property in Brisbane. -

We still call it Lethal Weapon. We also refer to the others as Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster and Wild Wild West... Each to their own I guess. -
Dreamworld closing early today
MaxxTheMonster replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I was at Dreamworld one day just prior to Tower of Terror opening when a severe lightning storm hit, and struck the tower. The weather continued to worsen and they ended up closing the park around 3pm only using the train to move all guests to the entrance area. -
Movie World new ride: JUSTICE LEAGUE: Alien Invasion 3D.
MaxxTheMonster replied to mba2012's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I posted this in another thread a few days back... "Received confirmation from one of the managers who look after MW, SW, WnW, who I have known for the last 11 years, that yes the image on their fb is from the Batman building and that they are hoping to have it reopened for the September school holidays." So the current plan is for September school holidays but time will tell.- 778 replies

There is nothing to see inside the building atm. Looks like they are putting down the framework before pouring cement.

Something new about to Hatch at SW?
MaxxTheMonster replied to Gazza's topic in Theme Park Discussion
What if they aim for Boxing Day... 8 months to redo inside the old BT building and if prehistoric then the volcanos could stay... Just a stab in the dark. -

If they are rethemeing BT to prehistoric creatures of the deep... Yeah I'll go... -
Missus has her baby shower on Saturday so we will be there Sunday. Might see if we can stay past lunch this time.

On Ride Footage - Post your most awesome ride experiences!
MaxxTheMonster replied to a topic in Theme Park Discussion
Not really on ride footage, but... For almost 7 years we have made MW ANZAC Day an Annual event with friends and were filming quite a few of our trips there for fun. With the parkz now closing ANZAC Day it is one tradition that has now died. Below are videos from our first two years attending the park. As I locate the others I will post them here. I will apologise for the spelling errors in them as a friend of mine "edidted" them. -

"Matt - they finally doing something with bermuda huh Thrill Zone Australia - Construction has started... Maybe Matt." Being a little vague there... so they have no clue either... Maybe = yes or no... and if construction has started then it isn't at the Dockside Tavern location shown in their picture... "My guess.... Saltwater crocodile exhibit" I would agree that this is the most likely given the egg is in a forest / rainforest looking area. Apart from the Thrill Zone Australia fb page, is there anywhere else that has said whether it is an exhibit or ride / experience? -
That is what I thought too but it has left me rethinking going down there solo now. Might have to go back to my only taking in my pass and car key so I can leave them with the attendant.

Not sure where else to put this... Went to MW today. Green Lantern was a one cycle wait time. All cars being used had audio turned off but the two not in use had it turned on. When I queried the attendant he seemed surprised it hadn't been turned on. Arkham Asylum was walk on. All seats were being used. Still no audio. Superman did not open until a little after 11:00am from what I heard from other guests. No test runs occured prior to 10:45am, and guests were informed for this hour or so that they would be opening soon. I am curious as to why the park has started not opening the lockers for rides (Superman and Green Lantern) until they open the queue. This is a bit of a punishment for people who go on their own as they then spend time they could be in queue at the lockers first thing in the morning. Scooby Doo was the longest wait time, all of 20 minutes. Probably as it is the only indoor ride and it was on and off raining. Wild West was walk on. Nothing out of the ordinary. HWSD... what to say... We walked in 5 minutes before show start and they still had not opened the first 2 sections of seating and were instead feeding people into the already full other end. Keep in mind my wife is 7 and a half months pregnant. I queried about waiting to sit in that area and the attendant informed us we had to proceed to the other end. Once we got there, we turned around to see that they had opened the first two sections... Anyway, we sat in the front "reserved" row of the last section as stairs are currently an issue for my wife with her history of knee issues and her current condition. We were the only people sitting in this row when the show started. The attendant that crosses to the far end walked past us, looked at us and then proceeded to tell us that this area was for people with a disability or in a wheelchair... Reverse chassis car is still MIA. Bowser flame did not occur. On Saturday morning the final "jump" malfunctioned, with the car going about 2 metres out of the wall, backwards, stalling, going halfway across, stalling and then completing the arc to the other side. This morning instead of racing onto the roof the hero car instead doubled back out and drove under the screen to the right side so Marty could drive the car out and explosions and so on could occur. After the show we headed to the Roxy for JTTCOTE3D, waited 5 minutes to ride Superman, walked on Batwing. Whole park was done in a little over 1 hour 45 minutes. Received confirmation from one of the managers who look after MW, SW, WnW, who I have known for the last 11 years, that yes the image on their fb is from the Batman building and that they are hoping to have it reopened for the September school holidays.

No you are not confusing me with someone else... Just not been here for quite some time. I did say they need to increase their ride count to absorb crowds. I did not specify what type of ride so why is the assumption that I suddenly think they should, as you put it "throw in more coasters"? I still think the lack of shows doesn't help this situation either. I enjoyed Arkham Asylum and Green Lantern. Yes they are coasters, yes I have said I don't like coasters. But... I enjoyed Arkham for the wonderful job of rethemeing they have done that makes you feel a bit more immersed in the movie (or in this case, video game). I enjoyed Green Lantern because as you walk through the queue line you felt, if you stopped to read everything, that you were entering the comic book world. The audio also helped give the feeling you were flying around as Green Lantern would. As you can see it is still the themeing and "movie magic" that I find appealing and should these be present on a coaster I will enjoy them just as much as I would should it be a walkthrough experience.

Wait times for all rides were over an hour from what I saw today. Green Lantern went down around 12:00pm and techs went to work on the second set of block brakes. Arkham Asylum was running reduced capacity. HWSD only did 2 shows. And the place was packed. We left after watching one HWSD and having lunch. This is another reason they need to up their ride count. Still a lot of people but less things to absorb the crowds.

Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
MaxxTheMonster replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I went on it straight after the first HWSD show this morning (30 minute wait) and there were only 3 seats out of action (both second row and right hand seat second or third row from the back) and no audio playing. There hasn't been a greeter either time I lined up so my pregnant wife was able to walk through the queue to see the new themeing. -
As far as audio, all 4 carriages had audio going nice and loud for the first runs of the day (Saturday am) Went back after lunch and saw that all 4 had the audio switched off on the box at the back. Queried this with the attendant who said is was due to the on and off rain...

Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
MaxxTheMonster replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
4 seats were not working Saturday morning and no audio at all. I liked the quiet instead of the old rattling and creaking. -
Finally got on this ride on Saturday and after multiple rides I can say that while I see no difference between the front and back rows, that there is a definite difference between the left and right sides with the right hand seat being the most comfortable and less jerking as you are on the outside of most corners giving you the larger arc around.

Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
MaxxTheMonster replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I have to agree that the new trains certainly make this ride much more enjoyable. The missing load rattle was also wonderful. As far as the new harness giving your upper body freedom, not when they are as tight as they are it doesn't but still definitely better than the old seats. Themeing was done well and the tower doesn't look so bad in real life but the fact they only did 2 of the 4 sides looks weird side on or behind it as you cannot make out what it is supposed to be. Great job though.
