  1. Not only should a park know years in advance when each ride will have to close, but with proper planning they should also know years in advance what new ride will be replacing it. When the time comes for a ride to be removed, the park should not only know what will replace it, but have the funding ready and the contracts signed to get work underway immediately. Of course, the exception to this would be when a ride has to close prematurely and unexpectedly. But that's a rare event. What you definitely DON'T want to do is just blindly keep on running a ride until it can't be cost effectively maintained anymore. That would be extremely poor management!
  2. If I had to live in Melbourne or Sydney, I'd definitely choose Melbourne!
  3. I've lived in Melbourne for a year (which was about 12 months too long). From my experience, I don't think most Melbourne people would be into themeing.
  4. I hope it'll be something more than just another fairground ride.
  5. Merlin owns the best theme park I've been to anywhere in the world, Alton Towers in England. It's not just about Lego!
  6. It would be good to see the stars cleaned up and shiny. As it is, they don't look cared for at all. As there's a limited number of them, perhaps when a new Hollywood actor visits, replace one of the oldest stars with a nice stylish new one, until they're all new (then keep going). Stars that are removed from around the fountain could be relocated elsewhere in the park, if practical.
  7. But SkyVoyager is still the feature of the main billboard ad outside the front of the park, even though it's STILL not open!
  8. You do pay. You either pay to enter the park for the day or for a pass of some type. It's not free.
  9. When was the Warner Bros "Dodgems" movie released? I can't seem to find it online or on DVD. Could be quite good though.
  10. I've already said my guess (although I'm cheating really because I have been told the opening date by a Dreamworld employee. Nevertheless, I still believe it will open on Boxing Day (please bear in mind I don't know what year though)!
  11. Less than 10 months till Boxing Day. Who's getting excited for SkyVoyager opening?
  12. December 26th, to be precise. A (genuine, offline) Dreamworld employee told me that.
  13. The thought had crossed my mind too. I'm sure there's plenty of other names they could have used and whoever approved this name must have realised the connotations.
  14. It's a matter of opinion. I think it looks great!
  15. I simply meant the train looks fun. Aussie World doesn't really have an Aussie theme. Nothing about it is particularly Aussie. But their current slogan is "Fun's our thing", and in a way I think at least Fun is a sort of theme, to some extent. Ok it's very generic so not really a theme. Anyway, I just meant the train looks FUN!!!
  16. I wonder if the defects are just those I pointed out in the SkyVoyager construction thread before Christmas? (That's not defects with the ride itself, but the external walls. Not a safety issue as far as I can tell, but just an aesthetic one). Thinking about it though, if it was the external walls, they definitely knew about that before the hoardings were taken down, so surely they should have been left up, I would have thought.
  17. Or just keep it free like it's been most of the last year.
  18. I'm fairly sure that's not a serious comment. I've seen very few themed tracks anywhere!
  19. So first introduce a bunch of new features you have to pay for, then make them free, then reintroduce the charges. What a great strategy. Maybe we'll see charges on the Superman and Jet Rescue lockers next.
  20. The Motorcoaster is one of my favourite rides at Dreamworld. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's a bit uncomfortable.
  21. Look how well they've painted the train. That's a great example of imaginative, fun themeing. I'd love to see such creativity at all parks!
  22. You're absolutely right. It's not! That's the problem though, isn't it? Sea World is supposed to be for EVERYONE.
  23. For Paw Patrol they removed the bar completely as it had become extremely rusty. So that show is just an environmental lesson they found in primary school science textbooks. I think the bar has had the worst of the rust scraped off now and it will be reused for this new stunt show. As the centre of it is still 99% rust, it can't be set high as it is likely to snap in half soon and could hurt someone when it falls.
  24. Was there stunts? I must have been looking at the wrong part of the lake every time as I missed them.
