  1. It was a whole lot more in keeping with the theme of the park, and much better suited to a theme park generally. The junior driving school is absolutely out of place.
  2. That is the root cause of the problem, right there Brad!
  3. T-bone, I couldn't have put it better. I will take it a little further though, with a reminder of the gross stupidity of appointing a CEO (or anyone senior in a theme park business) who has no previous theme park experience. How dumb can you get!
  4. Up to now I've had the opinion that the later than expected opening of SkyVoyager was ok, on the basis that the important thing is that it's a safe and polished experience when it does. But given we were told multiple times by several Dreamworld sources (on and offline) that it would open either on Boxing Day or not long after, and yet it's now mid February and there's still no confirmed opening date or any explanation of what's going on, I now have to say my patience has run out! I realise technical things can happen which can sometimes be hard to predict, but it's now beyond a joke. That coupled with the very misleading marketing implying it was open when it wasn't, and the complete lack of any honest communication as to what's going on, has in my opinion done a lot of damage to Dreamworlds already very badly damaged reputation. So sad.
  5. Let's not forget Movie World is a theme park, not a fairground. Also it's a Movie theme park, and I can't see how any of the above fairground rides are connected to a movie. Let alone a Warner Bros Movie. Surfers Paradise is a much better location for rides like those above.
  6. I always thought Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was a Warner Bros Movie. The loosely themed shop at Movie World seemed to verify this. Seems not!
  7. In "a world of pure imagination" (to quote the previous Dreamworld slogan. Sorry, to quote a line from a very well known Warner Bros Movie! 😆
  8. So can anyone guess when they might actually make the announcement then. Will it be this financial year, or maybe next? To be on the safe (ish) side, I reckon it'll be about 2022. Maybe in August. On a more serious note, maybe it will actually include some sort of information on what's going on with SkyVoyager!
  9. They’ve already done that. There's massive signs all around the M1 announcing that it's open. That's as wellas the ones in the park itself, of course! 😀
  10. If you don't think Dreamworld is thriving, I'd suggest you can't have been lately. It's pumping. Much better atmosphere than any other theme park in Australia, that's for sure!
  11. Less than 11 months to wait now till Boxing Day!
  12. Thanks. Unfortunately, there's been several fake news posts on SkyVoyager so I can't avoid being a bit sceptical. However if true SkyVoyager sounds great apart from the bit about only half of it being fully immersive, and there being only one experience available. I'm far more concerned though about the idea of drastically reduced hours, and especially Whitewater World closing for Winter and the Adventure River being effectively cancelled. If that's all true, I could only call it gross mismanagement. You don't increase guest attendance by reducing opening hours and closing half the park!
  13. Whilst the above two posts are presumably meant sarcastically, they're likely to be close to the truth based on what Village did with their other "stunt" show (Hollywood Stunt Driver). Not good. But then again nothing new. The current jet ski display is nothing much compared to earlier shows on that lake.
  14. The Typhoon is presumably the main new ride I saw under contruction. I don't remember whether the loop was complete on it though. Just saw some track and a crane.
  15. I didn't take pictures yesterday sorry!
  16. It's beginning to look like they meant boxing day 2019, not 2018 as I had thought!
  17. Visited the park yesterday for the first time in about 2 years. First and most obvious change was the new signage and staff uniforms, matching the new logo. Very impressive! The significant attraction I hadn't used before was the scare maze. Much like others I've seen at Fright Nights, and Zombie Evilution at Dreamworld. The major difference being that the actors are laughing almost constantly, so it's a funny twist. Evil, but in a funny way! I like it! Professor Magoriums Wonder Emporium (if that's the name) was still my favourite attraction, the only difference being the staff member who greeted us at the entry was a bit of a Vicki Pollard (Little Britain), and whilst delivering the safety message, and ensuring we waited until previous guests had progressed far enough, did so in a very funny way! It's staff like this who really make the difference at theme parks between guests having an "ok" time, and a fabulous one! Overall park was fairly quiet considering it's Australia Day long weekend, possibly not helped by the 2 hour drive from the Gold Coast due to major roadworks. I suppose short term pain for long term gain. Saw one, or possibly 2 new rides under construction. No sign of a spinning mouse, and couldn't see any evidence of where the old Wild Mouse was. Tried to work it out, without success!
  18. A lazy river is designed to be a slow, relaxing ride. An adventure river is fast and exciting, with things like waves and fountains to go through.
  19. As does the partly closed roller shutter. I'm sure automatic glass doors, with a suitable level of tinting would have been a lot more welcoming and still kept the sun out!
  20. Dreamworld isn't building a lazy river, that's what Wet & Wild has. Dreamworld is getting an adventure river. Similar to a lazy river, but quite a different experience!
  21. Arkham Asylum is my favourite ride at Movie World, especially now that Scooby-Doo has been downgraded.
  22. Is that for the staff who missed their turn on Christmas Eve?
