  1. A doctor who dark ride. They could easily come up with an adventure which had something to do with monsters under the Sea!
  2. Meanwhile, I'm living in the best place in the world, and loving it!
  3. Here's my attempt at a more reasonable re-write of that article: " ADRENALIN junkies are finding it hard to get their fix at Movie World, with half the park’s thrillseeker rides out of action. A few of the rides at Movie World have unfortunately been out of operation lately. The closures have sparked criticism, with some patrons saying they should have been warned before paying big entrance fees to the theme park. Thankfully though, other rides are still open and there are a wide range of shows and character appearances throughout each day ensuring patrons are still able to enjoy a fun-filled day out! Parkgoers were already waiting to hear what would happen with the popular Green Lantern ride which stopped operating in March after a breakdown and now Arkham Asylum is offline for maintenance until late June. The popular Green Lantern ride is currently closed whilst technicians ensure its safety, following an incident in March where a few people were stuck on the ride when it stopped unexpectedly. Arkham Asylum is also closed due to normal annual maintenance. Superman Escape and Justice League 3D were also down for repairs during the recent long weekend and later this month Yosemite Sam’s Train will be out of action. During the recent long weekend, Superman Escape and Justice League 3D were also closed for a short time for unexpected repairs. However they have since reopened. Brisbane truck driver Danny Windahl, 24, said the line-ups and ride quality could see him picking a Dreamworld pass next year instead. Brisbane truck driver Danny Windahl, 24, said he was considering a Dreamworld pass next year instead of a Village Roadshow VIP pass. HAVE YOU BEEN TO A THEME PARK LATELY? HOW WAS IT? LET US KNOW IN THE COMMENTS Mikaela Ryan, 22, and Matt Gear, 21, were not pleased they only managed to get on three rides after paying almost $80 each to get in the gates. They were unaware that locals can purchase an annual pass which offers unlimited access to not only Movie World, but also Sea World and Wet ‘n’ Wild for an entire year. Often the cost of these passes is less than the cost of a single day entry to one of these parks. Another customer, Ms Ryan, said “Two rides were closed and we haven’t been able to go on them before. Even the Superman ride was shut down for a bit today, so there weren’t many options.” A mother of two, who declined to be named, said she faced long lines and few options after paying $250 to take her family to Movie World. One patron expressed dissatisfaction with her perceived lack of warning that rides were closed. However, there are clear signs at the entrance which show which rides are not operating, allowing people to make informed decisions on whether or not to enter. In a statement to the Bulletin, Movie World highlighted the importance of safety. “The safety and wellbeing of our guests at Warner Bros. Movie World is our highest priority and maintenance is an essential part of ensuring the ongoing safety of our attractions,” Movie World said. “ ... unscheduled attraction closures may occur intermittently but every effort is made to have these attractions reopened as soon as possible.” The shutdown issues came as Movie World customers expressed their disappointment about the end of the VIP gold pass as well which allowed park entry plus access into White Christmas, Fright Night and Carnival events. Fred Bloggs, 31, of Loganholme, said he was thrilled with the range of entertainment and fun at Movie World, despite a few of the rides being closed. “Where else can you pay such a small price, and get unlimited access to so much fun and entertainment at 5 major theme parks for a whole year?” Mr Bloggs remarked. Mr & Mrs Wilson took their 2 young daughters, aged 7 and 10, to Movie World, and said “We have travelled to theme parks in several countries, but overall nowhere really comes close to the Gold Coast, and Movie World is our favourite of all the theme parks here!” For a small additional charge, it is expected that annual pass holders will once again be able to also gain free entry to the parks White Christmas, Fright Night, and Carnivale events, as they have in previous years. At nearby Dreamworld, the Escape from Madagascar ride is out of action for annual maintenance. Beach Break Bay has also been closed at Sea World to allow for a new multi-million dollar kids precinct to be built in its place. Each year, the Gold Coasts theme parks continue to invest millions of dollars to create new attractions. Sea World has recently opened their “Creatures of the Deep” family attraction, and is currently building a brand new childrens rides area within the park. Likewise, Dreamworld is also about to open a brand new kids area."
  4. Dreamworlds slogan is simply "Happiness", and to me that's very appropriate and much more appealing than promotion of thrills. Not all theme park visitors care about thrills. I certainly don't. But everyone wants to be happy!
  5. Oh dear. I may have misjudged you by the looks. I take back my last comment.
  6. Unfortunately that's what the British media does best. The Australian media is about a decade behind and still does a certain amount of actual journalism sometimes. They're catching up fast though!
  7. It's themed perfectly. As I said earlier if anything could make it even better, it would be to darken the wild mouse section, and add a couple of spooky surprises and a spooky soundtrack in that area.
  8. I've never waited more than about 3 minutes for the motocoaster. It depends when you go, but I wouldn't say the queues are always too long.
  9. That takes humility and maturity. Hope it meets with an equal level of respect. Well done.
  10. That's the exact reason they have such safety mechanisms. I never allow thoughts about bad things that could happen, or could have happened to upset me. Life's too short. Just enjoy it!
  11. When I go to Dreamworld there's only two rides I usually go on. Thunder River Rapids and Motocoaster. It's fairly basic, but at least it has a sort of theme to it (that you're in a motorcycle race) and it's a bit of fun!
  12. Well put (despite the wines)! That's sort of what I was trying to say. A good business ensures it provides its shareholders with a good financial return and makes a profit. A GREAT business though (and there's only a few) sees a bigger picture than that, and ultimately ends up making a lot MORE money in the long run, and sometimes even makes the world a better place!
  13. Two Malaysia Airlines jets crashed in the last couple of years. Is flying getting more dangerous? Of course not! It's just two unfortunate incidents.
  14. Sadly that's the way many businesses have to be run these days.
  15. I believe it does give return on investment, by both attracting new visitors to the park (provided it's marketed well) and helping to persuade locals to renew annual passes.
  16. The only part I'd like to see a bit more theming in is the wild mouse section. There's not very much about it that's spooky. It should definitely be darker so you can't see the next bend coming. Maybe a spookier soundtrack in that area would help too, and just a few big scary things that drop down in front of you here and there (illuminated by quick flashes). Regardless, it's one of my two favourite rides in the Gold Coast. The other being Wild West Falls.
  17. Why is it that behind the apparent anonymity of the Internet some feel it's OK to insult people they have never even met?
  18. I disagree. I think the film is still as good as it ever was, and quite entertaining. Given that the film was made by Warner Brothers in the Gold Coast, and given that the movie actually features the ride in it, it's a real authentic experience of virtually being in a movie set. That's really what Movie World was always meant to be about.
  19. Yippee! Really looking forward to it. It will be a weekday when I go too as I have a next week off work. So with any luck it won't be too busy.
  20. I have to say it does look seriously good. However it's gonna need to do more than just LOOK good. There is going to need to be sound and movement, and hopefully interactivity and unpredictability. I'm going next Monday. Looking forward to seeing all of the above (fingers are crossed)!
  21. Some of the effects shown in this video would be perfect
  22. Sounds like tech services probably left one of their lights on. A careless thing to do as it did spoil the effect a bit.
  23. I have just been on Thunder River Rapids, and as others have said the thunder and lightening effects in the cave now work (I wondered why it had that name). The animatronic dinosaur now moves and roars too. It's a vastly improved ride experience!
  24. I've just been on Scooby Doo, and for the first time ever (at least that I've seen) the last Scooby animatronic is fully operational, and so are all the other effects. Could just be a coincidence.
  25. VRTP have been associated with Nickelodeon for a while haven't they? There's a Nickelodeon shop at Sea World. I'm sure Spongebob is a Nickelodeon character, and that's also been at Sea World for a few years. Not sure whether Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are also Nickelodeon, but they'renow at Sea World too.
