  1. There is one plus side to the show.... Yesterday afternoon they were training for the show. Jumping off the ship, swinging off the ship etc etc... It was extremely entertaining watching some of the failed attempts to do multiple flips off the high structure! More than once we saw huge belly-flops. Looked pretty painful too! But very entertaining!
  2. I recall at Disney World they were handing people these cards that they scanned as they enter the queue, then you give it to the operator at the ride station and they scan it back in. This gives a completely up-to-date queue time. But again, this just costs more money (of course, Disney can do it!).
  3. I felt that if I raised my arm, it would be taken off! I know it probably won't.... But it's closer than it was on Corkscrew..
  4. I was there yesterday and rode Sea Viper for the first time. Here's my two cents worth: The queue building was boring, to say the least, I mean a coat of grey paint and we're supposed to feel like we are in queue for a "new" ride?? There was, however, a TV showing photos from the previous ride/s and the safety signs were themed to the new ride. Seriously, all the station needs to freshen up the queue is some lighting effects (I know it's been discussed here already). Then the train rolled in... At first I'm thinking "woah, that's awesome!", it looks so much better that the old corkscrew trains and the whole presence of the ride seems modern and new... But then I take a closer look. The black panels surrounding the whole car look horrible, to say the least. The backs of the seats looks like scaffolding and there are wires visible everywhere. Neat? No... Then I climb aboard. The orange and black seats may look cool from afar, but man are they uncomfortable! Once the harness comes down you notice that on the outside of each seat the harness has a bit jutting out to prevent you from raising that arm. So we still can't raise up our arms like we can on Superman... The whole load/unload process took between 5 - 8 minutes. If this is supposed to be better or quicker than the Corkscrew then it's most definitely failed. Once we are on our way in our uncomfortable seats, I try to enjoy the ride. The back seat makes the first drop enjoyable, as it always did! The ride seems a little smoother than the Corkscrew, but due to the higher centre of gravity on this ride, you still feel all the bumps and you still rattle from side to side (I noticed this mostly between the loop and the turn). The Head-chopper at the monorail track is VERY INTENSE now. Seriously, I can't believe how damn close they let you go! Once we round the last corner we are treated to some whiplash from the coaster's abrupt stop. Ouch. Exiting the ride, I take a long hard look at the new trains and think to myself "WHAT THE F*** WAS WRONG WITH THE CORKSCREW??!"
  5. Wind speed, temperature... stuff like that. I'm pretty sure the computer uses that sensor to determine how much force is needed to launch the train (especially on a windy day).
  6. I noticed MW have recently placed queue times on boards around the park. This is a good idea, but currently has some flaws.. Unlike the electronic systems used in other parks around the world, MW uses a board with a magnet showing the appropriate wait times. The main problem I noticed is that the boards don't get updated NEARLY as often as they need to. If you look at the board and it says the queue for WWF is 20 minutes, by the time you walk over there and line up you end up waiting for an hour... There is a message on the boards saying the usual "this is only a guide" and all that, but from my experience the times are way off. The other issue is kids (or childish adults) who walk by the boards and change the times around... Today the Superman Escape queue said "20 minutes" for most of the day but I can tell you it was more like 45 minutes. Obviously the times kept getting... altered... by someone. The queue times are a good idea and all, but at the moment it just doesn't work. Thoughts?
  7. That's right, the enclosed slides are often the best and most popular. I think Terror Canyon was WAY better than Black Hole... The turns and pace of the ride felt more random and drop at the end was way better than Black Hole's splash pool.
  8. I agree completely, it's such a shame that they are removing these wonderful slides. I remember going on the Speedcoaster and Terror Canyons as a kid, they were so much fun and provided great memories.... I'm sure they will be missed by many.
  9. Isn't Batwing a major attraction? It's only been 3 years since it was installed. But I know what you mean, a new coaster might nearly be due... Or maybe they could fix Lethal Weapon so it doesn't give you a mild concussion? I've got my fingers crossed...
  10. Just as an example, Expedition Everest and Rock'n'rollercoaster both had pouches for loose items that didn't have velcro on the top. Now I know that both of these rides don't have very much airtime, therefore your items (should) remain in the pouches. But still, people must loose things occasionally...
  11. That's exactly what I thought! Our Aussie parks are ripping us off with these lockers, whereas Disney don't seem to care about making the extra money... Also, it really doesn't seem safe to have loose articles on rides with inversions. I know they are in a 'pouch' but they could just as easily fly out... :S
  12. When I was at Disney World I noticed a LOT of people filmed the rides there. None of the ride operators seemed too bothered by it. People film all the rides there, including the coasters...
  13. I was there on Wednesday too, but I never saw the Superman line that short!! Also I never even knew that WWF had an outdoor overflow queue! I don't think I've ever seen a wait that long on it before... Nevertheless, on a hot day it's always nice to get soaked on WWF
  14. Hey everyone! A little while ago I made this music video of the Superman Escape. I uploaded it to Youtube, but due to copyright restrictions the audio was muted. Since a music video isn't much good with no audio, I uploaded it to MediaFire for anyone who's interested... http://www.mediafire.com/?drehfayyjt2 Just thought I'd make a topic here to share it with some fellow enthusiasts! Tell me what you think....
  15. Fifi is riding the Spaceshot over and over, that's nasty! :S
  16. Wow, Sea Viper looks terrible. No extra themeing in the station or around the track, and it looks way more rough than the Corkscrew was...
  17. From what I remember I coudn't see anything for all the spray, and it spins you so fast that you get disorientated... Also you usually fall through the hole upside down... and dizzy. :/
  18. A group of coaster enthusiasts doing coaster after coaster all day long... That sounds like a great idea!
  19. Sheikra, front row, outside seat, is a Coaster lovers paradise...
  20. Sounds great! I'm up for it once a date is finalised...
  21. Every time I ride my hands are all the way up!
  22. Wow, I though they had that done way earlier... In that case some tunnels or themeing should definitely happen before Christmas.
  23. I know what you mean, but I'm pretty sure the clearance is sufficient even with your arms fully raised. It seems low but that monorail track is a fair distance away...
  24. It looks similar to the Jet Rescue, which is great! I really hope they do something similar to this with the Sea Viper...
