Movie World new ride: JUSTICE LEAGUE: Alien Invasion 3D.
alex_1 replied to mba2012's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Visiting Movieworld next month with a friend from the UK. Can't wait to give JL a go. Also looking forward to riding Arkham Asylum as I actually haven't been to the park since the renovation. And of course I'm looking forward to riding Superman Escape, for no reason other than it's Superman Escape.- 778 replies

Unrelated to this topic but something I noticed in the video, when did Constrictor suddenly get built? That was quick. I guess watersides don't take long to construct though.- 778 replies

TMNT is a Sky Flyer. Star Flyers are large chairswing-type rides.
-
I guess. Anyway, I'm going to stop now. I hate arguing over the internet, though I end up doing it a fair bit.
-
When did I tell the OP what their favorite ride should be? I just said that if an SLC is their favorite coaster they need to ride more coasters. Oh and don't get me wrong. Arkham Asylum is definitely a massive improvement over Lethal Weapon. But I just don't think it's a fantastic coaster, even with the revamp.
-
Okay, okay. I'll admit I'm biased and being an asshole enthusiast. To the average member of the general public any coaster that's fairly big and goes upside down is exciting, and they usually wouldn't know or care wether the layout is original or not. SLCs just leave a bitter taste in my mouth and hearing them being praised bugs me lol. And on a side note, since you asked, I've been on 5 SLCs in total. Lethal Weapon/Arkham Asylum at Movieworld, Infusion at Pleasure Beach Blackpool, Blue Tornado at Gardaland, Kong at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Cape Cobra at Ratanga Junction. I don't even fully understand this argument. I simply stated an opinion, one that many enthusiasts happen to share. I just don't like SLCs. That doesn't make me a bad person.
-
Okay, I'll admit what I said is a bit unfair. The SLC layout is pretty cool, but it's been cloned so many times.
-
Lethal Weapon was absolutely terrible. Stock standard SLC layout (well with an extra helix) and terrible head banging. Better as Arkham Asylum, but the layout is still that of a boring old SLC. If you think it's the best ride ever you need to get out a lot more.
-
As much as I'd love a woodie, I think Movieworld desperately needs a flat ride or more dark rides before another roller coaster.

It's a bit odd and it's making my OCD senses tingle quite a lot, but at least it's 3D.- 778 replies

I sure hope we don't get the world's tallest star flyer. The tallest one in the world is currently being built at Six Flags Over Texas and it will be 120m tall. If Movieworld to get a ride that tall it'd frankly look ridiculous. As much as I love Eurofighters - the two I rode in the UK were lightyears better than GL - I don't think one is the best option for Movieworld.
-
Where does Superman get a place in this? I guess it depends on what you like. Superman is by far the best if you like thrill rides, WWF is best if you want a family friendly experience.
-
^ I think you're confusing Gazza with Robb Alvey.
-
I'd be uncomfortable with that, however I've never been made to share a boat with anyone else on that ride. But I guess you're right about the comparison to Mammoth, I don't mind riding with strangers on Mammoth Falls. But even though the number of riders will be smaller there would still be less personal space and I'd feel a bit awkward.
-
On something like a slide I believe sharing a raft is a tiny bit awkward due to there being no real restraints or boundaries. Just my opinion.
-
Holy crap, the rumors are all true. Looks like Six Flags are going all out for 2013.
-
^ Especially with another new coaster opening next year.
-
Yeah I got the joke lol But if you really want to re-live the pain of Lethal Weapon I know about 20 SLC's you can head to.
-
This is a bit of an odd subject. What exactly do you mean by wacky? I'm sorry but are you actually serious? Lethal Weapon is by far the roughest coaster I've ever been on. When I last rode it it dropped to the bottom of my list and I gave it a rating of 2/10. There was zero enjoyment on it whatsoever. The transformation of Lethal Weapon to AA:ST is one of the best things Village Roadshow have ever done IMO.
-
I don't think Abismo's design would've fit there, while a Premier launched coaster like Superman Ultimate Flight probably would.
-
My food intake when I go to Movieworld consists 100% of churros, and only churros. I must say, Movieworld's food is a bit better than the garbage at Seaworld and Dreamworld. Last time I was at Dreamworld I almost died when I saw the cost of a crappy little burger.
-
I actually prefer visiting Movieworld when it's slightly busy. When I go on an empty day I'm pretty much done by 1 or 2. I guess if that happens to you you could always just drive over to Seaworld for the rest of the day. And no they won't let you take a camera on board.
-
On a weekday the parks will be empty. They rarely even get busy on weekends tbh compared to parks in the UK and USA. I doubt any queues at any of the parks will exceed 15 minutes.
-
Let's pray it's not a topple tower lol. A smallish Star Flyer would be cool, maybe the 100ft model?
-
As much as I love coasters and would love to see Movieworld get another decent one in the coming years, I think they need to increase their dark ride collection by replacing LTRR. One thing they also desperately need is a good flat ride, because at the moment all they have is Batwing.
