  1. I understand what he is saying in terms of only using one "theme" to save on licensing, but even back in the day when the park was owned and operated by Warner Bros. they still would have had to pay licensing fees for the use of characters, logos etc.
  2. This doesn't make sense. Movie World is still "Warner Bros. Movie World" and the studios next door have been "Village Roadshow studios" since a late 1980's before the theme-park was built. The fact that the films are made in the studios next door doesn't give Movie World automatic rights to build theme park attractions. The studios also do make a lot of film and TV series, many of them major movies i.e Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Thor 3 (filming there this year), San Andreas, Narnia 3 etc.
  3. The article was about a Jurassic themed park, not a "Jurassic Park" themepark- two very different things. article here >> http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/entertainment/billionaire-plans-to-open-jurassic-theme-park-on-the-gold-coast/news-story/53a76ee67503957d7d5a6e2f7671e447
  4. After a quick Google search I would say they are "local". Probably also comes down to the equipment required, and as said, availability. They seem to do quite a bit of work for all the GC themeparks.
  5. Brown is the natural colour of many river systems, looks great to me.
  6. It clearly says one of the tallest, high speed gravity coasters. Doesn't state anywhere that it is the fastest.
  7. The fact that Universal Studios owns the theme-park rights to Nintendo would make this impossible at the moment.
  8. This is the latest (1 September) Nearmap image of the area.
  9. Megafactories on channel one is an episode on building roller coasters right now (AEST), for anyone interested.
  10. I think the most logical place for a major expansion would be (as previously mentioned) behind the showstage, the outline below includes some back of house buildings which could be the reason for "admin buildings" being included in the applications.
  11. The only issue with this plot is that most of the red area is swampland, that fills during periods of heavy rain (as shown in the pic below)
  12. Plus the MDMC is sponsored by Honda, so they mustn't care very much either.
  13. Hot wheels is famous for its trademark orange tracks, especially the looping track. It's almost a guarantee that the Cyclone's track will be repainted orange.
  14. yes the globe moves, the link bellow is from the dream world FB page, showing the globe spinning (with some of the cast from Strictly Ballroom the Musical). The support beams are not visible when people are standing in front for a photo, so it isn't a big deal really. https://www.facebook.com/dreamworld/videos/vb.30639128612/10153250887618613/?type=2& Fountains wouln't require a fence around them unless they are a certain depth. As DW fountain is shallow and built up from the ground not into it, so no fence is needed. The globe however has the stage leading to it which would create a drop into the fountain, which is why there is need for a fence.
  15. I have no issue with corporate sponsorship when it is done well and fits the theme of the ride. Honda is a very obvious choice for the Moto-Coaster. Disneyland has been doing this for years, since day one if I'm not mistaken.
  16. To be fair it doesn't appear to be finished, so it could look a lot better by opening.
  17. As a business VRTP wouldn't be charging such a low price if it wasn't beneficial to them. I know that I have personally spent a lot more money in the parks since the introduction of the cheap passes. Before the passes I would only visit one of the parks probably every 3 years or so, so they would only be getting ~$75(day pass entry) + ~$50(spending in the park) = ~$125 out of me every 3 years. Now every year for the past 3 years I have bought a year pass. Even if the passes had been $75 every year that's $225 just on passes in 3 years (Already VRTP has gotten an extra $100 out of me they wouldn't have normally), this isn't taking into account the extra food and merchandise I have purchased over the years, and due to the low entry cost I have been more inclined to purchase up-charges like animal encounters which I would not have done with a standard day pass in years gone. I know this story is same for the 6 people living in my house and I would say is the same for hundreds of other locals.
  18. Sea world has stated that the attraction will feature animals from the past and present as well as mythical sea creatures (such as the Kraken).
  19. Here is the latest (April 9th) Nearmap image of the Creatures from the deep construction zone.
  20. Micechat barely mentioned it in there latest trip report, got a whole one sentence regarding it lol. http://micechat.com/96050-sleeping-beauty-castle-disneyland/
  21. They are doing a refurb of the facade of It's a Small Ride in prep for the 60th anniversary celebrations in May.
  22. It would all come down to public broadcast issues, and Movie World would therefore have to pay broadcast fees each time the movie is played or for each episode shown throughout the day.
  23. They could get rid of the moat and extend the enclosure all the way to the footpath and use a glass fenced enclosure (like Australia zoo). This would greatly increase the size of the exhibit and improve the viewing.
  24. Just new dialogue for the presenter and new music, the "tricks" will be reworked into a new order.
  25. While this may be slightly off topic I was browsing Nearmap today for any updates (no new images), and was looking at the property boundaries of the parks and was surprised to see the Dreamworld property boundries (see orange boundary on image below). According to Nearmap the land was subdivided back in 2012 with a large part of the land now a separate lot. Most of Dreamworld's spare land is up behind overflow car-park and the eucalyptus tree farm for the koala's out the back near the vintage cars.
