  1. Back in 2004 I had a seasonal job at Dreamworld and they said it is the most popular ride in the park. It's not as great as it used to be but still good. 1min into this video show the Thunder River Rapid Ride back in 1987! The animatronics are no longer there and the rapids look a bit rougher than they are today. NOTE that the vintage cars moved to a new location and no longer have any theming, the Toboggan is gone but you can still see the old pool, the Thunderbolt is also gone.
  2. Log Ride has no sound except for the creaking of the log as it climbs the lift hill but not sure about rapid ride, there used to be thunder and lighting but they may not be there anymore. Thunder River Rapids does have a very dark tunnel - all you can see is black and some miners with really bad faces... but it's still one of the best rides. If visiting on an off peak weekday the ride does close at 4pm same with log ride.
  3. Go on the weekend or during school holidays so you can ride the vintage cars and train. The Rapid Ride has a very dark tunnel and there are a few dark areas on the log ride. For the kids there is Wiggles World and DreamWorks kids, be careful with the Pandamodum as it may be too rough and not many people join the mild line.
  4. The best part of my Dreamworld World Pass was Skypoint. I haven't yet been to WWW will do so before my pass expires since I also won't renew. Dreamworld really disappointed me on my fist visit in years last November when I saw the poorly placed motorcoaster, poorly themed and placed vintage cars, decaying paddle steamer, abandoned Blue Lagoon, plant life growing on the Mine Ride, old chair lift poles and awful tasting food.
  5. Maybe they need to build a zoo on the Gold Coast. They also have Paradise Country but that is more of a farm place no one really knows about, they could always convert that into a zoo and include it with VIP passes.
  6. Once Big Brother finally get cancelled forever Dreamworld can finally reinvent themselves. They will then have lots more land to develop bigger and better attractions. A wooden coaster would look best where the studios currently are so you can view it from the carpark. I'm sure Dreamworld realise that WVTP's are beating them but one day Dreamworld will once again be the best Gold Coast park.
  7. A Storm is coming and it's going to be a big one! Image from Thrill Zone International
  8. According to Sea World's maintenance page... "Viking's Revenge Flume Ride will be closed for maintenance from 27th May until 24th June 2013 inclusive" I hope Viking's Revenge gets expanded to go under the new Storm Coaster. It is way to short now!
  9. Why did they get rid of the Thunderbolt? John Paul Young even did a song about it. Come on Dreamworld give us Thunderbolt II - Australia's longest rollercoaster!
  10. Funny comments made by Dreamworld on their Facebook page "the mine cart ride was one of our favourites but unfortunately it couldn't last forever. We miss the mine ride too" Really? Dreamworld miss the Mine Ride? It's been rotting away since 2006 with no replacement. "The Rapid Ride does not use less water than it used to, infact there are more water features than before on the ride" The start of this video shows that there were elephants that sprayed water. That's a water feature that is no longer there. .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNN0cMPym9w "We have retired the chairlift as attraction, but you can still see parts of the old ride through the park." It seems Dreamworld are proud of there old rides decaying around the park.
  11. Dreamworld's not out of the coaster business. I think Dreamworld may build a really good coaster soon. Check out this post from Belinda... "Belinda Brown: I Challenge you to come up with an idea for the SCARIEST ROLLERCOASTER IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE!! I'd like the idea explained and sketched out and then messaged to me by... 1/6/13. How do you feel about that challenge? Prepared to take it?"
  12. Heres a quote from Dreamworld I found on there facebook page... "Belinda Brown: Hi Andrew, We appreciate your passion and interest in Dreamworld and both your support and suggestions however each time you visit our page it is to say the same thing. We would love a fresh approach and some new thoughts. We get it, you think we are cost cutting to the expense of you getting the Rollercoaster that you would like to see. You love the steam train, and you wish the rides were always run with two operators. We are doing what we can to give a great experience efficiently while tourism is down and maximising the rides over peak periods when it is needed, all so that we will be here for a long time to come with new attractions we select to suit our guests and our precincts being developed. There has been so much done this year, but you know that. More is coming but you know that too. You should be excited that other parks have rollercoasters you love and we have different attractions, it wouldn't be right to all live in the same space. The themeparks see themselves as Gold Coast ambassadors and not just competition to each other. Each has something that makes us special, and don't you think in the bigger picture that is a good thing? WE love you guys guessing what is happening in the park but remember that your speculations or information from rumours are just that until confirmed by us. We share information about what is coming when that information is developed and ready... so feel free to ask, guess and hope for your favouites in the meantime, we invite you to consider the idea that we care, we plan and we strive to create memories, happiness and loyalist like yourselves. Stick with us because it will be worth it, I can promise you that. You can always ask Kenny or I questions directly if you would really like to know something and wish to share ideas"
  13. John Longherst should buy back Dreamworld and restore it to its former glory.
  14. On Sea World's website, on the ride pages when you click "view on map" you get a map of Movie World! http://seaworld.com.au/rides-and-attractions/rides/jet-rescue.aspx
  15. I saw this message from Belinda Brown on Facebook "The Train and Vintage Cars are both currently closed on Weekdays" Speaking of the vintage cars silly Dreamworld has an old photo on the website. They didn't rebuild the barn did they? http://www.dreamworld.com.au/Rides/Family-Rides/?tileid=633940722911814680
  16. Saw this on the news tonight. The cub is so tiny!
  17. The main reason Dreamworld is failing right now is that lost the vision. The reason DW was built was to be a Disneyland style park in Australia.(Watch the start of "Young Talent Time | Dreamworld Special | Part 3" on Youtube for a interview of John Longhurst) Some of the original buildings and attractions reflect this (entry building, Main Street train station, paddle boat, Gum Tree Gully, Avalanche). For Dreamworld to be on top again they need to stop with the flat rides and build something to the quality of Disney parks.
  18. This year I'm renewing my VIP pass but not my DW pass which goes till November. I haven't been to WWW yet so I will go around November before my pass expires since I won't get another one untill Dreamworld improve which may take a long time!
  19. Guess what? Dreamworld now won't operate the train on a weekday! So if going to Dreamworld on a weekday you need to walk since there will be no transportation rides open.
  20. I have Refillable cups, Park maps, Video Camera, Wallet, Glasses cases, suncream, hats and jumper / umbrella (depending on weather) for both me and my sister. I put all of my loose items into the bag so it can fit in a locker.
