  1. My little girl inadvertently saw this on the news, I try my hardest to keep her from watching the news, and now she is on the verandah blowing kisses toward Dreamworld. "Is God sad Daddy?" I don't cry very much at all. I just held her and let the tears fall.
  2. Dreamworld only just recently performed a change to the ride didn't they? Installing new parts to the bottom of the channelling or something? So goddamn sad.
  3. My deepest sympathy to all involved - the victims and their families, the operators, all who witnessed it, the emergency workers. I'm shocked beyond all belief. Regardless of the cause it will not keep me away from the great place Dreamworld is. Everytime I walk up the driveway to the street and can see the Tower of Terror reaching for the skies, it brings a smile to my face everytime. Now I'm looking at it and can't help but feel terribly sad. I'm at a loss to how it happened, but for now let's just think about all involved and send them our best.
  4. I reckon Movieworld should make Superman Escape backwards like they did to ToT, just to mix things up, for limited time or something. Launched while sitting backwards, hells yes. And the actual coaster part of Scooby Doo should be done in complete darkness for a change. Before a hit is put out on me, I'm just saying for a bit of fun guys....
  5. ↑ let me put it another way. I certainly felt out of place on the ride with all the 10yo kids around me. The only other non 10 year olds were a couple at least 60 years old. They had an absolute ball btw :-) Kiddies. Family. Thrill. Whichever word you want to use, it was hells fun, but very underwhelming in relation to the build up to construction/opening. It's just my opinion. Still fun, still escapism, wonderful new addition, it's just like.... a new generation Ferris Wheel?
  6. Ok, back to topic. I thought DD was fun and looks great, looked alot bigger in pics, but I found it a little underwhelming. Still lots of fun, but I've classed it as a 'kiddies ride'. The themed area is top class, absolutely great work throughout the whole area which should win awards. Let the ride go twice as long, twice as fast and I'd move in! ;-) It's also great the area has been revamped and to see the old graveyard up beside WWF is also a good thing. Well down MovieWorld! It was great for the excitement to build up prior to the opening thanks to all the wonderful contributors to this site. Your blood is worth bottling!
  7. Will they will be demolishing Big Brother house for this new development?
  8. Yeah you are probably right. I'm fairly new to this and new to posting stuff on anything, so any help and guidance is appreciated. Do I change it somehow or will the moderators, etc do it, if they deem it necessary of course. Is it really that much of an issue though? Going down this morning for the 8:30am early entry to check it all out. Thanks to everyone for keeping us all up to date
  9. Gold Coast Bulletin published an article in today's paper (page 5) regarding a teaser about the new roller coaster. In the article a VRTP spokesperson says "plans for a steel-structured sit-down extreme roller coaster for the park with an opening date of 2017". Sweeeeeet! :-D Let the speculation begin.....continue! (Apologies for photo quality)
  10. Yep you are all correct. What's a bushfire in the great scheme of things eh? My statement was just in response to the 1st instance of the bushfires being brought up. Not about the dangers of building a wooden coaster. The bushfire that ravaged our area started in a small valley almost 9km away from us. The fire front moved at more than 70km/hour and jumped roads and fire clearways. So, yes, a bushfire CAN be a threat no matter where you live, though so can lightning, flooding, meteors and UFOs falling out of the sky. The point was a bushfire can completely wipe out km² in minutes, no matter the terrain/structures. 'Firebreaks' like the M1 are moot as only one small ember flying through the air can start a fire on the other side quite easily, hence discarded cigarette butts (an ember with its own handy filter) have historically started devastating fires. Like a contributor stated, this issue would not likely affect the installation of a wooden coaster though, due to preventative measures, etc. My statement wasn't meant to cause a meltdown (excuse the pun) just to state facts concerning bushfires, not specifically in relation to any structure at MW or elsewhere. Whooo. Now back to 2017 for MW. I love all the speculation from everyone, it keeps us all guessing, hoping, groaning and feeling excited for what's to come in the next few months/years. VRTP is really picking up their already awesome game and investing heavily in our fun and escapism. Can't wait to see what the new coaster is! Thanks for letting me say my piece everyone. Here's to a new coaster in 2017!!!
  11. In 2008 bushfires nearly completely destroyed the entire area I live in approx 15km from MovieWorld/Oxenford, not far from the M1 either, so yes, considering half of the area is still bush, then fires are a very real threat. The argument is moot though, no one wants a wooden coaster (waits for condemnation and the tsk tsks). Exciting times for MW
  12. Does anyone know the production company or is it in-house? Or could it be students from New York Film Academy that lives in the back lot?
  13. I would LOVE that job! They'll probably just have BOC or similar company set up permanent co² tanks out of sight for easy refill from a tanker. It's not difficult to run 10mm copper pipes, which is what is used mostly (or flexible tubing though not sure) to an external site/s or a filling port out the back to the tank/s that are in/under/near the ride itself. I can't see them installing tanks on the ride itself. Though I'm well informed/experienced with the systems, I am not an expert on co². However it's done, they'll use it for the 1st few years then turn it off like every other special effect on their rides
  14. I love the look on the face of the test dummy right next to him. Priceless..
  15. Oh darn, I was going to suggest the foundations for a fountain.... Oh well. Seriously - that is going to be tremendous! Thanks for the update
  16. ↑ I was being an idiot. Thought I'd throw the spears they had on the DD carriages during testing into the fountain to round the whole #spearsgate #fountaingate saga into one ;-) Thanks to everyone who keeps providing updates and pics on DD. You all deserve free Parkz memberships! ;-)
  17. Great! Fountain sent to the wrong park. Seaworld is gonna be soooo mad! And where are the spears?! It's not a fountain without spears #speargate
  18. Someone forgot to place the ad I think...I mean send out the 'press release'.
  19. Hope no one tripped over the new fountain! (seriously, I hope all is ok)
  20. The police cars were sold off. Neighbour bought one and had it in his driveway for couple of months, was weird and cool to see it parked at someone's house and not at Movieworld
  21. If you go for a climb on AA should see if WWF is visible from that height/angle and get some pics of the maintenance going on behind the walls. Slim chance but worth mentioning it
  22. When u do, can I have my powerball ticket back? Sooooooo jealous of youse behind-the-scenes people. Worth the money...if you have it. Have fun guys n girls! Many many photos!
