Gold Coast Bulletin article in today's paper. Movie World will officially announce the unveiling of the southern hemisphere first virtual reality coaster TODAY. They are installing it on Arkham Asylum and will open in September. Sorry about poor pic quality

Petrol station?! Clearly foundations for the fountain. :-D

Gilmore Space Technologies Tourist Attraction
UpperCoomera replied to UpperCoomera's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Ok, cool, thanks @skeetafly -
I'm not sure if this is how you do this, I'm new to the whole forum thing, but I saw this in today's (13/07/16) Gold Coast Bulletin. An application for a Tourist Attraction (Temporary) by Gilmore Space Technologies located at Pimpama Jacobs Well Road, Pimpama. Or is this old news? Apologies for quality of the pic

Where's the guy that broke into The Mine Ride when you need him? ;-)

I don't know if I've said it, but thanks to everyone for posting pics and updates on here. I look forward to checking for any updates after work. -
If only I had a drone! :-D I wonder if anyone at Movieworld would welcome a request for some pics? I might try and see how I go. Probably have a better chance asking them to include Kenny & Belinda in their parade

About 300 of us petitioned and lodged submissions to reject the building of a McDonalds that opened recently for many reasons and it was summarily ignored by council. Why? Well, when certain parties have a vested interest in the development and also serve in... public office, the people don't have a chance in hell. Money walks... We all know the rest. MW - I just wish they'd bring the backlot tour back. That was fun and a different experience. On a different topic sort of - has anyone ever seen WWF empty of water and any pics? Thanks
-
Anyway, I can't wait to see what the next year or 2 has in store for Movieworld. About the carpark, no structure above 9 metres or 3 stories will be approved without a lot of money changing hands, oh oops, I mean without alot of development/environmental/impact studies done. 4 residents won't get the project stopped, know that from personal experience, but traffic control and traffic movement just might be the undoing. A sealed carpark is more likely with entry/exit from the existing carpark to the new one (like an overflow) with a bridge (or access ramp as the legal people will call it). They will be required to put in place buffers between new development and existing lots, voiding any warranted concern from nearby interests

Ah jeez @AlexB, yep, confused you with someone, accept my unreserved apologies. I hope your not really insulted.

Okay, thanks @reanimated35. At least I now know it was a slight against me and then said contributor goes and suggests a monorail. Like it was said This isn't RTC you know.....
-
What is RCT?

What about a coaster or ride that joins MW to WnW? Then pass holders can go into WnW or rejoin the queue to ride back to MW.

This is what happens when Superman Escape and the Mine Ride have a baby ↑ Now that would get me to Movieworld more often -
Topgolf attraction coming to the Gold Coast
UpperCoomera replied to rac2703's topic in Theme Park Discussion
A golf driving range? Seriously? Very disappointed. Will it cost extra? Do you hire or bring clubs? My absolute love for MovieWorld just took a small dive into huh? Wha? It's time they put money into a huge Universal Studios type ride. Oops, is this the wrong forum for this? -
Thank you @Theme Park Girl !!! Great pics. I can't get out of my head that a walk through of a dry River Rapids would be tremendous. I don't know why, it's just there and won't go away! :-D Add the Mine Ride into that too. Thanks again. The theme parks should give you a job doing this.

Thank you @reanimated35

Thank you @Theme Park Girl!!! It's always fascinated me since I was a kid. Might sound weird but I'd rather walk through River Rapids empty than ride it fully operational (hears the gasps of terror and utter disbelief). Don't get me wrong, I love the rides, it's my ultimate escapism, but I must have been a cat in a previous life... curiosity and all that, lol. Thanks again! :-D
-
Hi @reanimated35. I'm new to this whole forum thing, so forgive me if I ask this in the wrong place or its been answered before, but do you or maybe @Theme Park Girl have photos of River Rapids when it's empty? I love behind the scenes stuff and what rides look like 'dry' or 'uncovered'. Especially that whole reservoir area where the water is turbulent like there is a massive pump there. That kind of stuff is even more exciting to me than the ride itself (waits for the screams and gasps of disbelief :-D). Actually any cool pics of any ride - uncovered. Thank you for any help.

Doomsday Destroyer - 2016 Movie World construction
UpperCoomera replied to Hypermarket Hero's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thanks for all the great pics and info Theme Park Girl! Absolutely tremendous. Can't wait to ride DD! -
Brad2912, thanks for the reply. that could possibly be it. we all know what 'the grapevine' is like. rumours take a life of their own. In regards to Robina Town Centre...thats wat i meant by replying to reanimated35 in his suggestion above, it could just be an 'attraction' like Robina has and not an actual water park.. thanks for your replies! LOVE this website ;o)
