  1. In terms of marketing at this period in time, I would say they wouldn't have much to work with. VRTP, as with Disney, can pull of some of the "dreams" marketing because they have opportunities based around common wishes amongst the younger demographics. I remember being in 3rd Grade and begging my parents to take me to Movie World just so I could meet Scooby-Doo and the gang, while my sister begged for Sea World so she could swim with a dolphin, and that's just the first two that comes to mind. I really, really, wanted to meet Scooby just because that was my absolute favourite thing back then; it was my dream and VRTP offered a way for me to fulfil it. Now let's look at Dreamworld and see what can be achieved in the way of dreams. Honestly, there's not much. Meeting a koala or a kangaroo is pretty much all I can think of, unless kids are now dreaming of free falling from 300+ ft. That's not to say that your idea can't go ahead, but it would require Dreamworld to actually implement more than what they have now. Haven't the WindSeeker been plagued with issues? Or have they ironed those out now?
  2. You've pretty much described the general tone of Parkz. I found to be a really interesting retrospective on the one ride in Australia that has the most convuluted history. I would love to see some more articles of this style in the future, although you would need a subject with an actual history to write about.
  3. Just Miss Kay's. If they had the quality of the food there, then I wouldn't mind paying a little bit extra in the parks. From what Push has said though, it doesn't sound to be worth it.
  4. That price absolutely stuns me. I know it's theme park foods, but even then that seems overly priced for the alleged quality. For around $20, I can get a Mac and Cheese Burger with a giant Peanut Butter shake in the Brisbane CBD, and that is to die for. It would be a real shame if Dreamworlds efforts in the Food & Beverage department started to take a turn for the worse. Maybe they just had a bad day?
  5. That page isn't a hot lap; it's a hot mess. In regards to the photographs, that's just dispicable. If you used them, you should've at bare minimum asked first. A simple sentence could stop a lot of people being annoyed Edgar Allen Poe, William Shakespeare, and Charles Dickens don't hold a candle to the literary genius that is Totta
  6. Seeing how much they've spent on previous "World Class" attractions, I would say anything over 15 million. How far over that number, I have no clue. VRTP going over 20 seems unlikely, but then again, my estimates are rarely on the money...
  7. I can tell you now, buying a plethora of shipping containers, let alone yachts and cars, aren't cheap. They you have all the interior sets as well, costs of waterproofing certain parts of the building, proper pumps and drainage systems, special effects, lighting and electrical. Pretty much everyone above has all given valid reasons as to why, when totalled together, the ride cost as much as it did. But are we really having a heated discussion over the budget for the storm? I thought we already had this discussion a little while back...
  8. That hallway looks insanely bright. I know that the blue and orange are synonymous with Hot Wheels, but I really wish that maybe went with a more toned down colour that didn't assault your eyes. Also, sorry to add more questions @The_Ninja_59 but do you happen to know what is in the circular room near the gates at the station? I can see something in that image, and it's clear they've replaced the tarp-looking thing that was there.
  9. I'm trying to reserve judgment until I actually ride, but what I'm a little bit disappointed in is how the ride still reeks of the Cyclone. I understand about budgets and time, as they're major restrictions in any project, but that queue line still looks identical to its previous incarnation (except with a different turbine and a new colour scheme). Maybe my very early view will change once I actually experience the ride. What I'm interested to see next is whether operations have improved. If DW is hyping this up to be their big holiday addition, then they better be prepared for crowds.
  10. I thought the advertising campaign has been pretty good so far. It's great to have something that isn't the flashy, "in your face" style of the older VIP pass advertisements.
  11. Unfortunately, it's not. I'm at the park now and it's just a billboard advertising the passes.
  12. I don't have the current day-to-day park map on me at the moment, but the FN Map from this year has the end of Main Street basically swapped out with the same graphic design from a few years ago, trees and all. Pretty sure the current maps actually show some form of transparent roof. Also, Chinatown Alley is actually pretty much gone from the map. It just shows an empty, desolate alley. So, I kinda screwed up there...
  13. I have to FN map from this year, and it even shows that Chinatown Alley is open. I also neglects to show the roof across Main Street, so I think it's a little outdated
  14. You can write better than me, so you aren't the worst; you're actually pretty good. Can't say I agree with everything, but I was a nice ride and a different to the typical TR fare. As for Disney in a Day, are you outta your mind?! Maybe it's because I'm a Disney fan, but that just feels like a very, very strange choice. I couldn't even think of doing a smaller park, like Fiesta Texas in a day. Oh well, I guess we all take things at our own pace. This makes me feel really chuffed. As much as we all bitch and argue about the parks, for not painting during a refurb, for returning mazes in a seasonal event, or even debating what on Earth VRTP is going to do next, it still shows they're doing a great job.
  15. Totta, next time can you please clarify whether something you post is official or made by you? It's becoming a bit of an unwanted trend... And with the paint job, I feel it's something that would be liked but not necessary. A nice new coat could like nice, but it's not out of place. I feel it would be necessary if they changed the Cyclone to something a bit darker in theme. Bright colours on Hot Wheels feels natural, but on Arkham Asylum?
  16. Is this just a branding change? Or do you know if they're getting rid of the Lo-Q/Accesso Bots?
  17. I'm a while behind, but I'm only just sitting down to watch it now. It's actually pretty interesting to see the process, although a part of me wishes to see what the process would be like on a coaster that isn't an "Off the shelf" design.
  18. Last time I went to a Wendy's was when they had liqourice ice cream, which was a pretty decent while ago. I thought they had dropped of the face of the earth, to be honest.
  19. That itinerary is absolutely insane. Can't wait to hear how it went
  20. Reminds me of that Monster Hunter overlay for Goliath at SFMM. What was it? A replica monster, a tent, a caravan and a train wrap... I really hope that's not what "Sidewinder" is going to end up as. That would be a huge disappointment in what has so far been a stellar improvement to the park.
  21. I would not class Guzman Y Gomez as a "higher quality food option". It's mediocre at best. In all seriousness, though, there's nothing absolutely awful with our park's food and beverage options. Sure, the pricing is a little bit extravagant but it's not horrible food. The only time I've ever been disappointed with our parks in terms of food and beverage was with the Prime Burgers range, just because it's obscenely expensive for what ends up being quite little and of low quality
  22. I'm not a fan of the use of outside operators. If I am at a shopping centre I'm content with eating at Guzman or Salsa's, mainly because it's a brand that I am used to. Yet, when I'm at the parks, I want something different. I don't go to the parks to get the same $11 Barramundi Burrito I do at the Myer Centre; I want something special. Take the Oreo Churros for example. I don't know about you guys, but I for one don't normally eat Oreo Churros in my day to day life, so when I'm at the parks I'm sure to pounce on the opportunity. Why? Because it's not the norm for me. It's a special occasion for me to be at the parks so why not treat myself?
  23. The fish tacos sound delicious but $19? They better be amazing for me to pay that much repeatedly
  24. I was originally in a panic about being frugal this Christmas so I can renew my Dreamworld pass. But by the looks of things, I may not end up renewing. Those trains look really dissapointing. It just looks like a quick wrap over the old trains, which already weren't all that nice. I think it's going to take a miracle for this refurbishment to be considered a "success".
  25. Is it just me, or do these trains seem to look a little odd? I think I can make out a headrest, but then you would have an absurdly high side wall. Can anyone confirm what they would actually look like?
