  1. I assume he's talking about height. Even the 10meter one looks short to me. It's all a bit whatever to me, the extra 150-200 rides an hour will be welcome though.
  2. So when you said 2 attractions a day, were you being sarcastic? If so doesn't that undermine your point? That's the only thing you've said that I've responded to. The way you've worded it, it seems like you believe it to be somewhat true, because if you said it as a sarcastic statement it would go against the general thrust of this post
  3. I'm sorry I called you out for making stuff up 😂
  4. You fell into the trap of talking nonsense. Do better.
  5. Yeah, you're doing it again man, I didn't say you were having a go at me. I also wasn't in this conversation until after you posted full wait times, and last time I checked, I'm not a theme park. So between these two points I'm not sure how you posting them would make me look bad. I didn't see your median time explanation. The post I was responding to, was Dean specifically, who after smashing his toy fire engines together, suggested that your data proves that you need to do planning to get on more than 3 rides in a day. Using your data, I demonstrated that to be totally untrue. Like not only did I not make an optimised plan, I came up with the worst strategy I could, on a day which turns out was the worst day data was available for, and it's still nonsense. Incidentally, it's interesting that rather than a typical day, you posted the worst day you had data for. I was responding as if those numbers were typical of this holiday period. Good to know a typical day is actually better than that! Had I read median queue theory, I might have said that guests don't experience median wait times, they go from one ride to another, so I think drawing conclusions from that sort of statistic is shaky. For what it's worth my method results in a lower number of total rides (which correct me if I'm wrong, is more in line with the points you were trying to make?). It's like trying to make a conclusion based off of the fact that 7,000 people went to the park, and only 2,500 got to ride Rivals. On the face of it that's bad, but it makes no accounting of how many people went through the gates who REALLY wanted to go on Rivals as like their number one thing. You've also got 8.6 hours of queueing, including JDS. How many people want to go on Rivals AND JDS? In the history of the park, I'm pretty sure the answer is 1, and she wasn't there on Monday. The old saying of lies, damned lies, and statistics is relevant. To be clear, I absolutely don't think you're lying, I just respectfully don't think there are any meaningful conclusions to be reached from the way those stats are presented. You can disagree, and that's fine too. The only thing I can really suggest is perhaps re-read my posts with the following knowledge; the time I quoted you, was the first time in this topic I was engaging with you. When I was making the worst day possible, I wasn't responding to you, nor had I read the median wait time theory nor was I calling it shit. I don't know if thinking I was doing that is why you tried to strawman me, but it would make sense. I'm not claiming to be a saint either, I'm sure I've done it to without even meaning to.
  6. Can you point to where I said this? The conversation was that people go to the park and got 3 rides. Someone said that's crap and that for that to be a thing they'd have had to get there late, and do all the worst things. There was a follow up, no, look at the queue times! It's impossible to get all the rides done. Then using the queue times, I demonstrated that this opinion is horse shit. Then you come along and say 'Ha see nearly the worst day out possible is typial and proves it's shit'. I point out that the whole point was that the claims of how bad it is are at a minimum, exaggerated, and you come back with 'Why do you think there isn't a capacity problem?'. By all means though, feel free to make another strawman.
  7. Normally the parks in Australia will rotate staff between positions. Don't know how they do it these days but it used to be start in one position, have a break, go back somewhere different, have another break, go back to a third position. The only ones where it's the same ride all are rides that only have one or two positions. These days even those rides have a couple of staff on so it's not as bad as the very old days of being on one ride by yourself from 10 till 5.
  8. Get there early, and if the queue is more than an hour, do something else instead seems like a really good option too. Like you get the point of the post right? It wasn't to say 'This is a good game plan' it's literally 'This is the worst possible game plan and you'll still get most of the rides done'
  9. Alright well let's play a game shall we. Say those times are accurate, not exaggerated which they often are. Let's also say I got to the park at opening, but I also at every point in the day I made terrible decisions and always went on the ride with the longest queue that I hadn't been on. What does the day look like? I'd be starting the day at 9:45 on Rivals. Cool good to get a big ride done. Then the longest queue when I get off is Scooby. It's a 100min wait, and let's allow 15mins to walk over there. So I join the queue at 11, and done about 12:40. Grab a quick bite from a mobile cart, and at 1, I go to the ride with the next biggest queue, Wild West, 150mins. 2 and a half hours is decidedly unpleasant! But whatever, those are the rules. 3:30 I'm done with that. I check the app and go for the next longest line, Green Lantern with an hour. Let's say that takes till 4:45. Hope on Superman which is right next door with a half hour queue, and then onto Justice Leauge to finish off the day. Does that sound like a nice day? Fuck no! Every decision I made was 100% wrong, and I made it that I queued as long as I possibly could. But making every wrong decision and having the worst day, I still rode everything except Batwing and Doomsday. So take your 'only got on 3 rides' reviews and fuck off. Quick edit to say I'm on mobile switching windows. I expect there will be mistakes I've made. I don't care, it doesn't materially change my point.
  10. I'll appeal to your intelligence on this one and see yourself if that is what I said.
  11. I'm a bit busy to reply in depth. I just want to say that there are some good points in this thread. Security theatre is not one of them.
  12. Don't know how to break this to you but there was never such a time. I remember on very early visits as a kid getting lost around the castle/flume/plaza. I would say that's almost part of the charm, but I think that's more down to my own weirdness. I quite like going to cities I've never been to and being lost and exploring.
  13. ... With roaring just about your head, destroying anything actually nice about having Vintage Cars there
  14. The 'best' DW is the one you grew up with. For me, around Tiger Island opening and pre tot was the best by some margin. As good a ride as it was, it totally ruined the feel of the place and what I liked about it as a kid. If you built ToT right over the top of frontier land at Disneyland, people would say it ruined the place. In 30 years there would be a generation of people who grew up with it who consider it peak Disney. Again, it's all subjective and personal to you. Having said that, there's a moderator who incorrectly thinks that Claw opening was peak DW. Gross.
  15. It's all subjective because it's all nostalgia berries. I've often thought that if Lasseter's was at Wonderland people would be singing it's praises as the best themed ride Australia ever had. Seeing it was at SW, and only for a fairly short time, I think it gets forgotten about far more than it deserves. I mean don't get me wrong, Bermuda was much better and definitely an upgrade, but Lasseter's really was a great ride. My memory of it is very hazy though, so if there was one ride I could go on again, that would be my pick, just so I can join the dots on it. Bermuda was better, but I well and truly got my fill there. Also vrry honourable mention to Lil Puff at DW. Fucking loved that shit as a kid, would be nice to be able to remember it properly. I think for me the stuff I miss is the stuff I have the best memories on, not what was the best. I think DW should have replaced Wipeout with something equivalent, and it was the most beautifully executed flat ride in the country by a fair margin, but I don't miss it as such. What I miss about it was my first ride on it when I was 9. I miss the playground. I miss that feeling of going on an epic adventure on pretty much all of DW's old rides (Log ride, rapids, Captain Sturt, Eureka, The Train and even the vintage cars to an extent back in the day. It's not that they were great rides, but in all cases you didn't know what you were going to see when you went on them. It was like you were going on a journey. I know that's weird to explain to kids today; these days if you started getting excited about not knowing where the ride went, you'd pull out your phone and get a satellite image of the layout. Back then you could have been going anywhere. Also objectively the best ride to have closed at MW is Gremlins. Maybe its because Scooby is amazing but I feel pretty much nothing about its demise. The park would be better if they had it AS WELL, but one or the other it's Scooby all the way.
  16. @New display name Ooooh I reckon I might’ve misread that one
  17. I mean I was going to make a similar reply to your initial comment but thought it was needlessly argumentative 😃 But yeah, to meautomatically verifying that an op has visited each seat has some utility, particularly if you ever change the staffing pattern on the platform. That doesn't strike me as being a controversial thought.
  18. True, but if no one arrives to wave the bit of plastic, very good chance no one checked the restraint either.
  19. I can see a use for RFIDs but it's quite specific. Say you run 2 ops checking restraints most of the year, but you want to change it to 4 or 6 for peak season. Changing operations like that increases the chance of missing a restraint since you've dicked with the routine and staff wouldnt be used to starting halfway along the train and finishing somewhere else halfway along the train. RFIDs would mitigate the risk of making such a change temporarily since you know that all restraints got checked every time.
